RH Don Carlos & Spa

Nice hotel in a great location in Peniscola. We stayed in a Junior Suite which was large in size and basic but functional in design. The onsite underground parking garage was a big plus for us, and the breakfast buffet was absolutely wonderful, with a large, high quality selection of breakfast items, and wonderful staff.

When we arrived at the hotel it was a very hot day, and when we entered the room it was VERY hot inside as well, as housekeeping had completely turned off the AC in the room (judging by the heat in the room, it had been shut off for hours). Also, the room was completely dark when we entered as the heavy curtains had been completely drawn (we assume to keep out the sun / heat, since the AC was off). When we complained at reception we were told to turn on the AC and to wait a while for it to cool down (supposedly, there was no other - cool? - room available that we could be moved into). Not a great start to our stay but the AC eventually kicked-in and cooled down the room after a few hours. As much as we appreciated the onsite parking, the spaces are VERY narrow and small. Also, getting out of the garage turned into quite an ordeal as the door does not open automatically (long story, but one advice to the hotel: post a sign near the garage door to explain to your guests what they are supposed to do, or place a phone near the garage door, so people can at least give you a call).

The rooftop pool was lovely if a bit chill. The location near the beach was great

Would have preferred one large bed instead of two beds pushed together but I understand the flexibility it offers the facility

Glass bottom pool was unique and kids enjoyed it. View to the beach was good from the pool. Breakfast was good and staff was nice.

Window looked out to a wall. Air conditioning had problems. Shower leaked out of the door. Roof closed after 7 so we could not look at the beautiful view.

Good location, excellent staff (!), cozy rooms. I would be happy to come back.

I liked everything

This hotel was excellent. It was a larger hotel than we were expecting and had very good guest facilities, including a bar/coffee bar and a restaurant. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The location was very close to the beach front and offered on-site paid parking. There was also public 24 hour paid parking directly in front of the hotel. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel. It was our second stay in this hotel where we came back for the comforts, the beautiful view, the friendship and welcome feeling from employees and good food.Private parking inside but convenient parking outside in the street just in front of the hotel too.2 min walking from the beach.Highly recommended

Friendly staff, great service, room was excellent. Spend some extra time exploring old town worth a visit.

The location is perfect and the staff are the best, so kind and helpful! They also have bikes available which we really loved.

Breakfast could be better and rooms are dated. They could do with a refurbishment.

Good location for enjoying the town.

Requested a room away from lift and we were round the corner from the lift, we could hear it clunking up and down. Had to use earplugs.

All the staff were pleasant and courteous and spoke very good English, the room was spacious, comfortable and clean and the buffet dining was excellent, all in all a fantastic experience.

The rooms are accessed with cards, I had malfunction in my card twice which was a bit annoying, the staff fixed it in the lobby. The pool is nice and quite but it’s not heated and also very low about only 1 meter height

Location. Very close to the beach. The staff is very nice and helpful.

All staff (incl. housekeeping staff / special mention to the beauty therapist for professionalism and excellent advice) were really kind and helpful. The location is great.Hotel amenities are really fine. The staff responded well when a parking space for electric cars was occupied by a non-electric vehicle.Breakfast: as expected (with selection of hot and cold dishes)Diner (buffet): not repetitive at all with an effort to vary the dishes.

Car park available (can not be guaranteed), but parking spaces are narrow.A coffee machine in the room could be a nice addition.

Lovely staff: great location; view of sea and castle from room 321. Very clean. Plenty of underground parking (paid) and very easy to access. Access by road to hotel very easy too. Castle very interesting

Great city center location. Nice equipped rooms. Clean and pleasant staff. Price for such hotel is too high.

For myself, too many tourists which caused that not enough choice at the breakfast.
