    Cons -

    • Our room was an internal one. There was very limited natural light coming in and also smells from the kitchen reaching our window. They conveniently avoid mentioning that on the description. I wouldn’t choose such room again and I was very disappointed. It was a very depressing room. They also forgot to give us towels at first and also the one that they gave us had holes. A little more attention to detail seems to be required.
    • Parking when you have a motor bike is a bit stressful as not at hotel location
    • Difficult to control room temperature- hot water a little hit or miss at night.Policed breakfast buffet!

The property is in a great location very central and definitely has a character. We visited before Christmas and was very cozy at the reception to stay and enjoy a hot chocolate. The restaurant was also nice and has very decent menu options.

There is no private parking and is difficult to stop outside because is located on the main street with limited space to stop. There is a public parking nearby so not a big deal but when we visited it was snowing quite heavily and our car was deep under snow the morning after. One of the days we returned around 21:00 and decided to chill in the reception area due to the cold. We asked for any finger food to have for light dinner (e.g. a sandwich or some chips) and they ironically replied that the kitchen had closed (at 21:00) and that we could order from the pizza place next doors while laughing at us. We eventually asked for some hot chocolate and apparently that was funny as well… probably because was a non alcoholic beverage. Anyway, nothing major but the attitude was not the best. Finally, the room we got was small (very small) so if you pay for the most basic tariff be prepared.

The decoration was very cozy and the staff friendly. The location was amazing as it was in the middle of the city center.

The rooms are a bit old.

The Hotel Aran la Abuela was quirky and fun. We loved the location - right in town where we could walk to everything but quiet at night. We had a balcony right over the main street. Receptionist was very informative and gave us insights about the Aran Valley.

    Not much.

Dirty, uncomfortable. Horrible beds. Stingy breakfast.

Curious hotel with peculiar decoration located in the main street. But nevertheless quiet.Breakfast OK

No fridge nor boiler in the room.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was nice and worth the money if you are not in the mood to find your own spot. Nothing spectacular but decent.

The hotel provides a quirky but wonderfully comfortable environment that cannot be matched by modern hotels. Its unique style may not suit everyone but we selected the hotel because of this and were not disappointed. The personal, friendly reception matched our mental image of the architecture. It all just worked. We would definitely come here again. It is a destination.

The staff is very friendly and the location is great, right in the centre of The Valley.

Hotel doesn’t really have natural daylight when you don’t book a view. There is no daylight in the dining and the rooms without view, which I personally don’t like. Felt like a dark and dusty place. Our first room was an unrenovated room in the first floor and it had broken tiles, wholes in floor and walls and was very loud, you could hear the streets, and the guests next to and above to the room, so we got a new room on the 5th floor which was definitely better. But overall the hotel has thin walls, you hear everything and people will wake you up a lot.Even if you hang on the door, that you are sleeping the cleaners wake you up by opening the door a couple of times, without asking for permission. The breakfast is for a vegan nothing but bad. I ate choco flakes withy soya milk everyday because they don’t have more vegan options. For me definitely not what I expected.

The location was great, in the centre of Vielha, near to bars and restaurants. Lovely cosy hotel. We enjoyed a great meal in the restaurant. The staff couldn't do enough. We would return to this hotel

There could have been a reduced rate for the children's breakfast.

Very cozy place and very helpful and friendly staff. Centrally located.

The bed was a bit small and the room was too warm at night so I had to turn off the radiator.

Lovely town centre hotel. Clean rooms, great staff and a fantastic restaurant.

    7JacquelinePosted on: 12-12-2023

    Lovely staff and lovely location

Breakfast was not very good value. Nothing cooked, just cereals, croissants and cold processed meat slices or cold tortilla. Not even one English TV channel. Room too hot and no controls.

The hotel manager offered us a choice of rooms that were available and let us see them before deciding.
