    • fantastic location! Very remote but located at a winery and near many other attractions. The building is surreal. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable.
    • Our stay was absolutely amazing and the views were breathtaking! We loved all of the staff members. They provided personal service from morning to night! The breakfast was fantastic and dinner was my absolute favorite! It was the best meal we had on our whole trip to France including our stay in Antibes! Our stay was so relaxing and memorable! Can’t wait to come back!

    Cons -

    • My friend got locked up in the shower room after shower. But staff are responding fast for helping
    • Bathrooms are dated but they work. Not a big enough issue to ruin our stay.

Property is picturesque from certain angels, there is a pool, staff if friendly and helpful mostly. From what I experienced, the breakfast was fairly standard hotel continental breakfast, good quality meats, breads, local honeys and juices.

The room didn’t feel well thought out, or really designed for comfort- Firstly the double bed was shoved in a corner, one person has to climb over the other to get off the bed.- Old and outdated furniture, active termite/wood beetle bugs in the wooden furniture,- AC continually blew cold air despite room temp being below set temp,- windows have no bug screen so mosquitos and other bugs come in easily.- there was no WiFi in the room, only way to connect to WiFi was to be in the lobby (we were in room 9)- really poor choice of art and decor (some 19century portrait of a lord or a gentleman looming over the bed). Also there is this really out of place series of art all around that is silhouette of a naked woman in different poses, placed everywhere which makes taking photos odd with a weird modern naked womans in a lot of photos behind a traditional castle. Odd choice in my honest opinion.- we had to climb a handful of stairs outside of room before we get to the first light switch- you really are disconnected from the rest of the city (could be a positive if you want a disconnected hotel, or a negative if you want to do literally anything other than eating at the restaurant)- we did not try the restaurant, so i can’t comment on food quality which appeared to be a big focus and priority of the chateau in the layout and design choices (i.e. the breakfast area where it is only for hotel guests, is tucked away in a corner with no views of the vineyards, whereas the restaurant which brings clients from outside the hotel gets the front row seat to the views of the hills and vineyards.- (at the time of this review) Ebike rental: 50Euros, hot tub/sauna is an additional charge, breakfast is 8 or 21euros (depending on if you’re having a coffee/pastry or having the full continental). Overall way overpriced.

Staff were amazing, property so beautiful. Room was really large. Wine tasting on site was so informative, Phillipe was outstanding. Couldn't have enjoyed our stay more!!!

Bed was comfortable and the property was quiet and tranquil. The setting is beautiful! Parking was good. Winery on site is very nice with great staff. Front desk staff were great. We ate one night at the Restaurant with the wine pairing and it was excellent. The sommelier was fantastic! The breakfast was good, but not great.

The patio needs to be power washed. We couldn't sit on the patio or have any fresh air in the room because of the mosquitos. I would suggest for this level of hotel and cost some screen and/ or mosquito abatement be done. When the facility had an event where they used the front of the hotel for seating / eating, staff blocked the entrance to the hotel with receiving tables and were clueless, so it was difficult to get our bags in and out of the hotel and was annoying and unwelcoming when we came and went. I finally found the other door, but not until the end of my stay.

The food at the restaurant was excellent

No elevator, no ATM, no shower in the room, could not change a 50 euro note, room was on the 1st floor, then proceeded up 2 flights of stairs with bags, room was small, center of Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a 10 minute car ride away, but they do not provide transportation to and from the village. When I asked if they could call a taxi, they acted as if it were a weird request. They did get us a taxi.

the location was very good/the staff were nice and helped with any demand.the only thing was that they didn't change the bad sheet even if it was dirty.

I think that the room should be covered with mor carpets on the floorto have like more warmth

    8gideonPosted on: 4-18-2025

    Scenery and the wine

The weather was stormy so we didn’t have time to enjoy the place and the facilities . Room had no coffee machine and no carpets so the feeling of chilliness was more predominant.

Very nice location and fríendly staff

One room had no heating, also we found hair in the bath and a cockroach in the room, restaurant is quite overpriced imo. Not worth the money.

Everything was fantastic. Our room was beautiful with a spectacular view over vineyards. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was exceptional, in both value for money and the quality of the food. Staff in the hotel and restaurant were very helpful and attentive and could not do enough for you. Highly recommended.

Nice room, great service, beautiful location, great restaurant (albeit small size main meal).

Party noise from 1am to 2am, with guests slamming on the reception bell and partying for an hour at least.

The château is stunning! Beautiful patio/restaurant area overlooking the vines. Lovely pool. Big rooms

Inside the room the furniture was bulky and impractical. (Eg. The coffee tray was hidden behind the Tv. To make a coffee you had to leave over the Tv screen?)

The hotel looks stunning. The restaurant is very good, the food and wines are awesome (but they also have their price). But they lack vegeterian menu options.

In my opinion its too expensive for what it offers. And they let you pay for everything that you want "more". Here some examples:- there is no included time in the spa, you have to pay 30 Euros!! for every 30 minutes you want to spend there, PER Person, this is crazy- the breakfast also costs 21 Euros extra per Person and is not at all worth it. It is a tiny buffet in some dark room. You have relatively good choices between some bread oder brioche, butter, some jam, fruits, tea and coffee. There are also freshly made eggs but the waiter makes it on some improvised cooking station. You can have fresh pressed juices (also nice) but they stand on a dirty tablecloth. For this price I do at least expect clean and professional facilities and maybe some more options. Furthermore the hotel is not really well thought through (of course it's an old building, but there are options like side entrances which could be used) . When you check in/out you have to cross directly through the restaurant and bother eating guests and the waiters with your luggage , also you have to cross through the restaurant to get to the pool or back in from the pool to the toiletThere are no escalators (just as a side note, this did not bother me) The pool area (not the pool though) was not well maintained, the sun beds did not have a comfortable topping, you are lying on the hard surface. There is bird feces on the beds, nobody cleans them. There are no sunshades in the pool area. No pool service - all in all for this price unacceptable. The room was ok, but regarding everything else I would say it is just overpriced.

Fantastic restaurant Fantastic location Fantastic staff

    A bit pricey

    - Location in the middle of the vineyards is incredible!!!!- The entire grounds area is just absolutely stunning and so peaceful- Location in regards to the other wineries in the area was great too — we were only 4 minutes from one of our wine tastings, and 8 minutes from our dinner.- The bathroom and shower were gorgeous with a great view of the vineyards from the shower- Views from the room were incredible- I left a scrunchie in the room and they emailed me about it, which I thought was super nice of them

    - The outside looked amazing but interior decorating did not match the vibe at all and looked cheap. The couch in our room was like super cheap college-room type of couch.- The hallway to our room literally smelled like a porta-potty the entire time we were there. Thankfully our room didn't smell, but our friends' room did. They complained about it and were given a bottle of wine when we left to make up for it.- We're obviously in the area to taste wine at a bunch of different wineries (as I would guess, all other guests are as well), so it was super annoying that the staff wouldn't let us open our own bottle of wine that we had purchased at one of those wineries unless we were willing to pay $35 — the price of the rosé they sold on the premises (which was double the price we had already paid for our own bottle). I understand wanting us to buy their wine and charging a corkage fee, but most places charge a reasonable corkage fee around $15, while $35 seemed ridiculous. We paid it because in the grand scheme of things it was only $35 and we knew that we already liked our bottle of wine (while we didn't know what theirs would taste like), but it felt a little rude at such a "nice" hotel. - Also, when we showed up to check in, hot and sweaty with all our bags, we stood at reception for at least 5 minutes while the guy behind the desk ignored us while chatting with another staff member and redesigning some sort of promotional material on the computer — without even acknowledging our presence or saying they'll be with us in a minute. It was strange.Overall, would stay again for the outside area which was truly a highlight of the trip (make sure you're going when the weather will be nice!), but I think they could improve some things.
