• We booked on booking.com for one night, but due to changes to our itinerary, we visited the hotel, in-person, to change the date we would be staying. The man at the front desk happily made the change for us, and told us we didn't have to make any changes in booking.com. When we arrived for our stay, we paid in cash at the front desk, and the hotel seemed ok at first. The shared washroom was damp and smelled mildewy, but not the worst we've seen. The outside area was very nice and there was often a staff member wiping down the furniture, which was nice to see. My only complaint was the number of ants in the grass and on patio, but this was not a huge issue overall. Unfortunately, right before we got into bed, I checked under the sheets and found a bed bug, and signs that there were more. I ended up just booking a different hotel down the street to stay for the night because I was not interested in staying there overnight, even if they had other rooms available. Unfortunately, a bad stay was made worse when, two days later, my credit card was charged for the amount of the original booking (with the name Hotel Vista al Cerro, which made me worried because it did not match the name of the hotel. My bank suggested that I lock my credit card in case they try to charge again). I assumed this was a mistake, and messaged Casa del Cerro on WhatsApp (where we had communicated prior to my stay, and they had been responsive), hoping to get a refund. I did not receive a response within 48 hours, so messaged again. Since then, I have sent 3 different messages that I can see are being opened, but with no response. With so many other hotels nearby, and a poor experiences here with cleanliness, bed bugs, and over charging, I would highly recommend staying elsewhere.
