About

Built above a 14th-century arch from a Medieval church, this charming hotel offers an Arabic-style tearoom and free WiFi. Each unique room has Mudejar or modern décor and includes flat-screen TV and a small balcony. El Mudayyan houses an ancient tunnel to San Salvador Church and Tower. The hotel is located next to Santa María Cathedral and Plaza Torico, in Teruel Old Town. El Mudayyan’s rooms are inspired by designs from Teruel Cathedral. Each air-conditioned room includes a mini-bar and a modern bathroom with a hairdryer. All rooms have 2 single beds pushed together. The city’s beautiful buildings make it a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Staff at the hotel can provide tourist information and help organizing trips. They can also recommend local restaurants.

    • The best location in all my stay. It is only 5 minutes from the train station and 10 to the bus station. It is right next to the tower and nearby there is a good coffee shop call Milano Coffee. Also nearby there are 1 restaurant that serves wonderful Menu of the Day.The room is wonderful with a small sofa. The WiFi works well. I requested hot water kettle . There is none but the staff offers 24 hours a day hot water from the reception on request. There is a free tour to the underground tunnel in Spanish mainly. I love Teruel and this hotel is in a great location for the right price.

    Cons -

    • The toilet tank leaks water into the toilet bowl quite frequently. It happens like 4 out of every 5 flushes. I told the owner /manager and I got the surprise response. She asked me to push and push the button to flush the water until it stop leaking water into the bowl. Now , what kind of response is that ? One night I pee in the middle of the night. I flushed the toilet and I kept hearing water running and I have to drag myself out of bed to push the button repeatedly. I don’tneed to do that, nor should I. It is a simple fix. The owner /manager should have fixed it instead of asking me to keep to tap and tap the button until the water stop leaking ( or the stopper stop the flow of water into the toilet bowl ). This kind of response is totally unacceptable in any hotel. There are 2 windows on the roof that opens with a button. One of them didn’t work . I didn’t mention it to the owner. Given her previous response, I am not sure what kind of positive would I get. The toilet paper doesn’t have dotted lines to make it easier to tear. You need to yank on it . The hotel doesn’t have any scissors to cut the toilet paper. The shower gel , is one the worse because it has no sud . No bubbles. It felt like thickened water. I have to use a lot and I felt like I didn’t shower. They could have given me a bar of soap and I would be very happy with it. These things are not a deal breaker though. Just buy your own toilet paper and bring your own shower gel and you will be fine. I don’t mind staying here again in the future if I decide to come back to Teruel , If I come back.
    • Hard bed, flat pillows
    • No more croissants nor fresh orange juice for breakfast at 10 AM, though the buffet is open till 11 AM.

Large, well lit room and bathroom. Excellent bed. Great location near points of interest and restaurants. Very clean.Easy free parking at the railway station, 5 minutes away from the hotel. Good breakfast. Wonderful tour of archeological discoveries under the hotel, led by the very knowledgeable owner.

No more croissants nor fresh orange juice for breakfast at 10 AM, though the buffet is open till 11 AM.

    Helpfulness if staff

Window opened onto others windows - no view and had to close mine during the night as someone smoking out of their window…

A cosy room on the fourth floor with good air con / heating. Coffee and croissant option for breakfast. The location is excellent and the hotel even has its own medieval caves. Also there's free parking five minutes walk away.

The room was much better than my last visit.

Excellent location, lovely staff in an interesting city. Would stay again!

    8ColinPosted on: 2-15-2025

Excellent central location and just five minutes walk from free parking at the railway station. There are two restaurants just around the corner from the hotel serving local specialities. The hotel has its own tour of medieval caves beneath the building.

My room faced on to the light well, so no views and not much natural light.

Luxurious room, welcoming staff, fabulous breakfast, great value.

    10ElizabethPosted on: 2-2-2025

Excellent location with easy access to free parking at Renfe railway station by means of a lift nearby.

Limited options for breakfast but plenty of choice nearby.

Everything, the attic was awesome, the views, the location, the buffet and the guided visit!!! We were delighted!

Great location, nicely designed cozy hotel in Old Town. For Spanish speakers they organize for free a short excursion to their Medieval cellar and tunnel, do it!

The only thing which did not match the description was parking. Hotel does not have free parking, you have to park outside the Old Town, there is a free parking next to train station. Not a big deal, some 5 min walk, but still, this is not hotel parking.

Location, room is right size, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Nearby parking. Clean . Staff friendly.

    8RobertoPosted on: 11-25-2024

Very well situated. The owner and staff are very friendly. We stayed in the old section of the hotel so our room didn’t look like the picture above. This hotel has history with catacombs underneath which we were lucky enough to see.

Although there is no parking in the hotel, the owner told us where to park.

It was our second stay at this hotel. The location is great and the staff very attentive. We were upgraded to the 15 sq m room on the 5th floor and it was wonderful, very roomy and with high ceilings. The buffet breakfast was tasty and plentiful. There was also a choice of coffee with croissat or toast for 3.50 and it was really good.

    Everything was good

    8CollettePosted on: 11-11-2024

Comprehensive breakfast, excellent value, and lovely staff.

The public lift outside was broken so getting up and down the hill from the railway station was an ordeal.

Lovely place to stay. Very central. Jorge at reception was very nice and helpful with giving us information about where to go and things to see. Room was good, comfy bed , nice bathroom. And you get a little free tour of the caves under the building.

    ? nothing

Large, clean and comfortable room. Excellent staff and hotel in good position. Free tour of Moorish tunnels an added bonus. Acces is via a 'prohibited' street but they have permission to allow guests a 10min drop off. Used the free parking at RENFE which was a short walk back to hotel.
