Pros +
- Although the hotel is old, but staff are freindly and the room is clean and comfortable. Good location.
- Location could not be better, at the center of the town and a short walk away from the Cathedral, with a number of restaurants nearby. Also although they don't have a garage you could park the car at the door for free on Sundays (and that was when we lodged there) but on weekdays you have to pay a small fee (60 cents) per hour with a maximum stay of three hours and then it is again free over lunch. Our room had a bathtub, albeit a small one. I like to take a bath and so this is definitely a plus with me. Also old me liked to see that the door to the room had a physical key.Breakfast OK but not at 4-star level as we often find in some 3-star hotels. All personnel very kind and agreeable.
- The staff were fantastic, even showing me where I could park my motorcycle more safely. When language proved a barrier the owners mother in law went out of her way to phone someone so I could chat in English. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was basic but plentiful. I couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you.
Cons -
- Hotel is somewhat like one of those Austrian (or German, or Norwegian...) family hotels with a friendly reception until 9 p.m. and afterwards you must enter with a key which you have to carry with you. Maybe they have a 24-hour reception on high season, but not now. The room must have been originally large but when they parted it to make a bathroom, it ended up as a small room (and a very small bathroom as well). They gave us a nice room with three windows to two sides of the building, however that exposure meant it was rather cold. The central heating was seemingly turned off (they had very few rooms occupied at this season) and we had to rely on a movable room heater which we were not supposed to set at top temperature, and that made me lower their rating by one point. Fortunately the bed had lots of insulation and was comfortable. No room safe/ locker but the hotel and the place are one of the sort where burglary is surely unknown.
- The only thing is that the hotel doesn't have a card machine for payment. But honestly, I didn't see a problem in this. You have a few bank machines in the town, where there you can withdraw some money.
- No complaints.

The staff are very friendly. They clean the rooms every day, if you want. Breakfast is worthy of a 5 star hotelAmazing place for those who want to be in contact with the nature and traditional culture of the country Dona Carlota, she is a lovely lady, and the guy was very helpful.

Friendly staff, clean, comfortable and modern room, location in the historical area of town near caathedral, museum and many bars and restaurants.
No complaints.
Very clean, nice People, location perfect, basic but very good
Good for a one night stay. Friendly staff
Cash only payment but not advised earlier
The hotel was excellent, breakfast was excellent, the guy at reception was a little scary at first, because he has a problem with speech, but very helpful person
Good location
We paid more for large bed but we got two small beds. At the room isnt drinking water.Breakfest are from 8-10am. At 8:40 there was only bread, ham and cellogs for eating. Also blanket was without duvet cover.
Great breakfast and staff! The hotel is right in the center of town, nearby the main attractions, shops and restaurants. There is street parking and the staff also allowed to store bicycles indoors in a separate room.
They didn't take credit/debit cards, only cash. Room and bathroom styling is a bit old without many amenities.
Location was superb! Room, including bathroom, was very nice for the budget-minded.
Having staff on site who spoke English would have been helpful
Basic but good option of a scrambled eggs good quality fresh fruit
More respect from loud guests late at night and watered down orange juice
Excellent location in beautiful old part of town - only a few minutes walk from bus station and we could walk up to main attraction- their church. It is a very old/historic building but completely refurbished & redecorated to modern standards - very Clean, comfortable bed & room- excellent black out curtains mean we slept in! Friendly staff and lovely man insisted carrying our bags up, and they let us store luggage in morning and then check in early- much appreciated. Great shower. Adequate breakfast - we prefer a muesli/healthy-style cereal, but they had cornflakes & yoghurt/OJ, fruit, cheese, ham, breads and coffee, so it was good for the price and breakfast runs a long time. Lovely lady serving at breakfast.
Very poor wifi, we couldn't really use it. I used my data roaming instead. There must be a nightclub nearby or within a few blocks, and we could hear the base thumping between midnight-3.30am and it was only a Monday, so it might be worse on weekend? but once it went quiet, room was very quiet though til 9am with very dark shutters, black out curtains - so we could sleep in.
Good location near the cathedral and the tourist office. Large free car park in easy walking distance. Breakfast limited but we augmented it by visiting a supermarket for fresh fruit. Room had a small private balcony (without view) and was clean. Plumbing was a little noisy but effective.
Breakfast rather limited, and English not spoken.
A family run hotel which is very clean and in an excellent location
Helpful staff, clean spacious room, good breakfast. Storage for our bikes.
The hosts were amazing. We were offered cheese, quince and vino Verde on our arrival! The room itself was out of a novel ! The breakfast was the best we had in Portugal. With all of those, I forgot to mention the view!
The only downside is that it's on the hill, so you have to drive to the center.
Great location. but the staff didn’t understand English whereas the son couldn’t speak (odd sounds) but was really caring and helpful.. loved being involved .. parking and carrying bags!
actually they offered everything you needed including Fridge, nice pillows, all the amenities in a bathroom, clean. fresh sheets over doonas! so nothing to complain about
The location is amazing and excellent breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helped me with my bags and getting on the WIFI on check in. I thought it was good value and I really enjoyed my time in Lamego!
The hotel was clean and comfortable. I would have liked a few more plug sockets in the room and maybe a lift.
had to pay cash had no change and no one could
