Pros +
- Right on Camino. Our room had access to a large rooftop area, staff was friendly and let us in early. Clean.
- Great location, friendly and helpful staff, good facilities, spotlessly clean. Great value. Could not ask for more. And Tapia de Casariego is a great place to explore on foot. High marks!
- The staff at Hotel La Ruta was exceptional. I initially booked the least expensive room which would’ve had me overlooking the main street in front of the hotel as well as being above the seating for the restaurant with its attendant noise, smoking fumes, etc. Esau bent over backwards to help me find an upgraded room for a small fee that would ensure me a good nights rest. He also provided me with an excellent map as well as great suggestions on where to explore. The room was clean and very comfortable The hotel was very conveniently located right along the Camino Norte.
Cons -
- Smell of disinfectant, looks a little tired, hard time finding reasonable lunch in town
- It would be helpful if when you made reservations, you could select whether you want a room facing away from the main street, even if it would require an additional fee.
- Just to add something here: the hotel does need a renovation inside. The shower was quite old-fashioned and the curtain was not covering enough so the water would spill on the floor.

The location is exceptional! Walking distance to the beach, shops, everything! The staff is friendly. The place has a cafeteria downstairs and a paid laundry mat in the back of the building.

Central. Very helpful staff. Early breakfast available.
Only “cheaper” option in Tapia de Casariego
Outdated facilities, lacking communication before check in, not very comfortable bed or bathroom.
Great location, 5 minutes from both the beaches and the harbour. Breakfast had lots of choice and brought to the table rather than buffet.
Although it had all the facilites as advertised it was a little shabby and in need of updating.
The host was amazing: he even got a friend to drive us to Ribadeo to get an early bus. We got some good vegetarian food too.
Good location for those walking the Norte. Nothing fancy. Clean and well maintained but very dated. Good WiFi. Good shower Bed linens were great
Towels were worn.
Nice hotel in central Tapia de Casariego. Great breakfast and lovely cafe in the hotel. Warm place to arrive after a day on the Camino
No hairdryer in the room.
Location on main Street and on Camino, good restaurant on-site and nearby, close to a supermarket and beaches.
Staff were nice and the Cafe was handy. Basic room but a good value. Hair dryer would have made it better.
The room was clean. It is aged but is fine for a night on the Camino
The room was hot. You could only cool the room through the window but it was too loud at night to keep it open. The bathroom is tiny and the shower/tub are odd to get in and out of.
The hotel was fine, breakfast was good and the bar was ideally located. I didnt like the town, cant put my finger on it, just didnt get it. Lovely walk out of the place though
It was located close to the beach, restaurants and supermarket.
Hotel La Ruta is in town and we had a simple double room with bathroom. We found a parking spot about 30 yards away from the hotel. The latter's wifi was not very reliable (but the Tourist office is not far away, with a friendly lady and better wifi). However the hotel has its own pleasant bar (with good prices!) Next door to the hotel was a pleasant cake shop/cafe, Palermo Pastelleria, a place to warm up in (it was a bitterly cold day when we were there) after the enjoyable self-guided tour sketched on the Tourist Office's town plan (free).
It was clean and the staff very nice.
Oldish furniture and bathroom.
Good, central location. Helpful staff. A good, safe place to store our bikes.
All was good!
Beautiful comfortable room with large windows and a great view of the ocean. Close to a beautiful beach and local restaurants. Staff and service were great. Great value and a nice stop along the Camino del Norte.
It is located right on the Camino and is a simple reasonable cost choice for a comfortable night. A nice basic breakfast came with it. I really appreciated the staff. They were very helpful to me on directional walking advice. The town itself is stunningly situated as a harbor up against dramatic craggy rocks. Very nice all the way around.
It was excellent for what I needed
