    Pros +

    • We were on our way to Burgundy and needed 2 rooms with 2 separate beds. Rates were ok and rooms clean. Just what we were looking for.
    • It was easy to locate for our purpose which was to visit the Cabaret Vert festival. And it was not too expensive. It is quiet and you can sit outside for breakfast or a drink. Nice friendly staff as well.
    • Decent hotel situated in a suburb of Charleville-Mézières. The room was pretty basic and reminded me of a youth hostel, but it was clean and cozy, had the basic amenities and I had booked very short-term for the Cabaret Vert Festival anyway, so I was grateful for the accomodation and didn't spend a lot of time in the room apart from sleeping. The personnel is very friendly and helpful, the premises are nice and quiet and there's parking space aplenty. A bus stop is only a short 5 minute walk away.

    Cons -

    • All ok for that category of hotel.
    • The breakfast was pretty basic.
    • BD and unwelcoming service - no reply to questions - despite promise of 24 hours nothing to eat or drink at midnight- nothing!!! This is not a hotel with hospitality but a box with beds - AI reception would be much better. Nothing in the room, poor pillows

Great fun staff singing heavy rock songs with a French accent ! Good value dinner

Bit too far out to explore town. The lady at breakfast was a bit manic

An on site restaurant which is open, always makes the stay more pleasant. It had an outdoor seating area and the food was good.

Convenient location for a stopover. Close to supermarket and fuel. Polite and efficient staff.

The restaurant was shut and we bought a ready meal from the supermarket to save a drive into the town centre. It was New Year's Eve so not entirely unexpected.

A last minute choice as in Charleville it was extremely busy and nowhere to park acceptably for our original choice. This was better as it was 2.5 miles from the centre near to an older small town. Which was actually walkable, 30 mins to Les Ayvelles where we found a fantastic, unexpected restaurant for an evening meal, Le Pichet, fabulous food and very friendly. This made the stopover all the better. The ibis is small which is fine and in a nice residential area, it is clean and beds comfortable but it is basic, but ok just for a night stop off and is very quiet . The breakfast is very good, plenty of choice, nice fresh bread, pastries, fruit and cheese etc. This was fine. There is lots of free parking on site in the grounds too so is safe for leaving your car.

The evening reception young chap could have been more friendly and more welcoming. He just did the basic job and checked us in. However, the morning staff, lady on reception and chap in the breakfast room were friendly and nice... There is an issue in the bathrooms, as there is a small ventilation fan, system that we noticed straight away constantly running, noise, still heard if door was closed. I asked the young reception chap why it was on constantly, he just said that it goes off about 9pm and on again at 7 am?? Even so it is irritating and noisy. It did go off at 9.30 pm but on again around 7.30 am!! There is no litter basket in the main bedroom, just one in bathroom. The rooms opposite on the ground floor must have been smoking rooms as the smell in the corridor was horrendous, I can't believe that smoking inside is still allowed in France?!

A very big positive for the team: 3 young people managed the hotel, the kitchen and the restaurant, with a lot of demanding passing customers. Not only did they work hard, they also supported each other. Pretty good dinner in friendly atmosphere. I recommend that Ibis shows its appreciation. Unfortunately I forgot the names, I think one was Natalija

The hotels far from downtown (but I did not want to go there after a very long day of biking)

Was a good location for an overnight stop and we had a good breakfast . Staff friendly and helpful

    10RobertPosted on: 9-11-2023

Lovely quiet setting. Spacious and comfortable room , plentiful hot water . Good food and excellent value .

Nothing though only one member of staff serving in restaurant and bar which was challenging for him !

    7BerenicePosted on: 8-29-2023

Breakfast was very good, personnel really kind and serviceable

Only one towel per person, no extra towel for the hands. Bedding must be fitted with plastic under the sheets,, was very hot.

    6RobinPosted on: 8-14-2023

Room is fine, the basics are all there, however the bed is small (140 cm wide) and the height of the toilet is very low. The personel is kind and helpfull. The bar is open but not very nice to sit and prices of the drinks are high (7E fo 0,5 liter beer).

The width of the beds and loudness of the closing doors from other rooms during evening and night.

    Very good

Receptionist booked us in under wrong name and I had to prove that I had paid at point of booking.

excellent value for money: clean and quiet hotel with lots of parking space and good breakfast

    6ErlantzPosted on: 7-30-2023

Bearing in mind it's an Ibis hotel, the room was spacious

The room has dirty, beds were really uncomfortable, breakfast quite expensive for the overall quality and all the food which was suposed to be hot was completely cold.

    8AndrewPosted on: 6-5-2023

    comfortable & quiet Good parking

limited drinks options in bar. Restaurant food not the best. had to send two meals back as were cold
