Pros +
- Super comfortable private and public spaces. Amazing food. Great location and grounds.
- I liked the historical building. The decoration. The location is perfect. The lounges are beautiful. Air conditioning was very good. The personnel was great and helpful. I'm convinced it's the best hotel in Vila Viçosa since I actually visited the other two. Marmoris is quite ugly. Parking was easy and free. We always had a bottle of water, which is very important because we had temperatures outside of 40 c.
- The hotel is beautiful and nicely kept. Staff is super friendly and helpful. We really liked the ping pong table. The location is perfect to walk about town for restaurants and groceries.
Cons -
- The Hotel needs some refurbishment. It's a bit old. The water tap was very weak. Warm water took ages. Lack of luxury details in the toilet like lotions or the shower cap. The swimming pool is too small for the amount of people who wanted to use it. So I was disappointed that I could not use it most of the time on my summer holidays. There were a lot of screaming children and adults all at the same time. There's space for an expansion. It's important to preserve the frescos which are everywhere in the building. The reception should be improved. It's too small. The breakfast was average. Too little number of tables. The personnel sometimes aaked for the room number and sometimes they didn't. It was random :)
- The air conditioning in the room was not very cold. The wifi was very slow.

This place was so fun. We enjoyed everything. The breakfast was so nivpce, the pool was beautiful, and it’s a wonderful old convent. So fun to stay here. Room 111 was great!
I liked everything
Everything. Comfortable room, attentive staff, generous breakfast and beautiful grounds and pool.
- During an unprecedented nationwide blackout, the hotel staff demonstrated remarkable professionalism, effectively managing a challenging situation on the first night.- I would like to extend a special thank you to Sandra and Karina, whose outstanding service ensured that all guests received food, highlighting their dedication and care during difficult times.- The quality of amenities provided, such as soap, shower gel, and body lotion, was exceptional, contributing positively to our overall experience.
- The absence of the hotel manager during the service of snack dinners during the blackout raised concerns about leadership and support for the staff.- Management could have taken proactive measures in response to the electricity crisis by offering a cold buffet dinner, which would have alleviated stress on both the staff and guests.- The hotel manager appeared inexperienced in handling customer complaints, often coming across as uncaring and quick to make excuses rather than addressing issues directly.- The gardens were poorly maintained, with dry fountains and waterways, indicating a lack of management attention to detail and upkeep.- The common areas featured outdated and uncomfortable sofas in the lounges, along with worn-out chairs in the breakfast and dining room, detracting from the ambiance.- Additionally, our room had a non-working bath plug, which hindered our ability to take a bath, and there were no coffee or tea-making facilities available.Overall, while the staff, particularly Sandra and Karina, provided excellent service, significant improvements are needed in management practices and hotel maintenance to enhance the guest experience.
Location, decoration, historical, beautiful setting, great staff- in particular Ivan- kind and helpful
Staff was nice and the breakfast offerings varied and delicious. Easy parking, great location and the marble throughout was beautiful.
Some of the salons/rooms didn't have lights on, so exploration and appreciating them was a little difficult. Also, the balcony of our room.had zero view (juts roof tops) and nothing to spruce it up (a potted plant or flowers would have gone a long way).
Great breakfast. Helpful staff. Large, airy room with a private balcony, canopy twin beds side by side, wood floors. A short walk to town center.
Everything was amazingThe room was really spacious and the bathroom with eveything we might need. The bed was confortable and the extra bed for our son had a good size.Breakfast was in an amazing room with lots of natural light and very friendly staff. We loved it
There are a lot of switches that don´t work or are inactive and it gets a little confusing
Amazing atmospheric location in an old convent next to the impressive Palace. Wonderful breakfast, nice rooms and beautiful garden. Very friendly staff.
Pousada should mention on Booking.com that only small dogs are allowed. Pousada could use an outside paint job.
A nice hotel full of character and charm. Pleasant, if limited, bar snacks. Excellent breakfast. The hotel was nice and warm.
30€ charge for our small well behaved dog was an absolute rip off and we will remember this when next booking in that area!
The room was nice, comfortable and modern (it was the new wing) and had lift access. Guests have access to the amazing historic murals and tile works in the centuries-old convent. The town was small but interesting to walk around
The balcony door was shut tight during the stay and the restaurant was closed during the low season.
A wonderful, historic building in an interesting town. An excellent choice at breakfast. The public rooms were very comfortable. The bedroom was spacious and had plenty of storage. Friendly and efficient staff.
Location, good breakfast, rooms were comfortable.
One staff member (young lady) was very friendly allowing late check out at 2 pm (we finishedlate after bike race) the next one on Sunday afternoon did not allow my wife to take a shower slightly after 2 pm though.Price for one night was pretty high (275 Euro) which I think a short shower a bit out of time might be included.
breakfast ans public areas
old rooms with noisy floors. bad maintenance. old furniture. not all lamps working. shower leaking. ac was not working and room was too warm
It was comfortable , very clean and staff was very friendly
The location and feeling alone in a huge place
We only stayed one night but everything was exceptional. From the room, to the pool, bar and staff service. With the addition of the charm of the space itself. Coming back for sure.
Nothing to say
room, breakfast, history of the place
everything was great
Lovely location, friendly staff, clean, spacious room, good facilities.
More varied dinner menu. Service a little slow in the bar.
