Pestana Bahia Praia Nature & Beach Resort

We had a family of 8 at this hotel. The pool area was great and a short walk to the beach was perfect. The breakfast had a huge variety of food. The rooms were larger then I was expecting. Highly recommend this hotel.

A rental car is a must for this location. There is 1 restaurant within walking distance. There is a restaurant in the hotel. Those are your only options. We did 1 tour that would not pickup at this location.

Big outdoor space, large room and balcony, Breakfast is ok.

Location

It was a beautiful location, right on the ocean, and the grounds were very well taken care of. The lobby was gorgeous and had lots of festive decorations, and everything was very nice and clean.

The beds were not very comfortable, and the food at the restaurant wasn’t great.

Couldn’t get a drink whenever you wanted one. After breakfast closed at 11am you were lucky if the pool bar was open. When it was it took forever to get a drink as they were poorly stocked and the staff had to keep running inside the hotel for provisions.Also, I had a charge on my credit card for over £700. When I asked the first lady at reception about it she said she saw the charge on the computer and would refund it to my credit card. The next day when I saw it hadn’t been refunded I asked a different lady at reception. She said she couldn’t see the charge, apologized for the other member of staff and asked which card I was referring to and gave me 2 different numbers to choose from. Neither of those were my card. Then questioned if my card was new. I said I only had one credit card that I’ve had for years and it’s the one I gave them 5 days previously when I checked in. I had to call my bank in the UK to stop the charge. Not the stress I want on my holiday!

Best location on the island — it was so nice to not have to get in the car to get to the beach. Just a very short walk. The pool was wonderful. Excellent location if you have kids (we have a 2 year old and she comfortably stayed in the crib provided). We stayed elsewhere on the island but this was our favorite in terms of scenery and convenience. The dinner buffet was exceptional. I’m a vegetarian so it is sometimes hard to find a variety of options while traveling and I had my best meals here for dinner.

Bed were terrible. The air conditioning seemed inadequate. No coffee in the room. Breakfast was meh.

Absolutely great location! Middle / halfway through the island, so easy access to all parts of the island. Right on the ocean, beautiful garden and views, and direct access to a nice beach as well! Generally spacious with nice pool for kids.

Buffet food is mediocre

The property was in a great location with easy access to the beach. Breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant offered a good variety of options.They had activities throughout the week for the kids.

Room could benefit from a refurbishment and the gym needs to be improved with a larger, better-designed space. I was frustrated to find out that the rate I booked was higher than the last-minute prices being offered.

Facilities are a bit outdated and dinner has very limited food choices. No restaurant available for lunch.

Direct access to an exceptional beach. Remote but only a 20 minute drive to Ponta Delgada, and just 30 mins to the airport. QUIET. You spend all day and night listening to the sounds of the atlantic ocean crashing into the shore. It feels like a nature preserve, removed from the rest of the world. Tiny slice of paradise. Also we booked a 2x double bed room and they upgraded us to a king size at no extra charge. The ocean views are spectacular. Every room has a balcony as far as we could tell.

It’s QUITE dated. It’s almost too quiet inside; at times I had flashback of visiting grandma in the home. The food is not great (though the breakfast is surprisingly good.) Terrible coffee. Drinks are overpriced. Theres an extra €8 service charge for room service.

The location of this hotel is great. It is off on its own but also, not so close to some of the main attractions on the island

The hotel is very very old. It had a smell when we walked in, the rooms smelled like old/damp carpet. The rooms were very old, no USB ports, there was an old radio item in the room on one of the nightstands with no purpose. The rooms had no blackout blinds, so it was very hard to sleep in when you're jetlagged. There was no bell boy to take our bags, no music in the lobby, it seemed like ghost town. The staff were very very cold, I thought it was the culture at first that they don't smile, but other people on the island smiled so, it must be the staff. We stayed one night and although our booking was non-refundable, we left after one night

Site was beautiful and super scenic but in the middle of nowhere. Must have car. Pool was awesome, nice to have a pool bar too. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Captive audience ..Charged, a lot, and for everything water,towels, automatic service charge added. Glass of Coke was 4 euro plus tax and service fee. The dinner was a 30euro buffet only (no menu)and entrees really odd ….spaghetti, lasagna and 2 types of fish. Neither bar had my favorite beer in stock, although it was on menu. Room location poor, overlooking rooftop of lobby, then the parking lot.

Location (if having a rented car), breakfast & buffet dinner (we had half board), big room w/balcony, in a non-urban quite area, close to a nice beach (nice for strolling after dinner).

There was no a/c as we were told that it was still the "winter season" (we stayed there late May). It was a bit hot in the room on our arrival day (it was a sunny warm day), but the situation was not that bad as the weather was overall pleasant during our stay, we could use the balcony, and the staff provided us with a fan.

Great location. Staff was extremely helpful. A nice place to relax.

The bottom floor had a musty smell

Staff was excellent. Shout out to Filipe at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. And Claudia who patiently cooked my eggs every morning.Next to the beach/ocean. Awesome views. Grocery store and gas station nearby.

Sauna and gym close early at 8 PM.SAME BREAKFAST BUFFET MENU EVERY SINGLE DAY ! AND WE WERE THERE FOR 8 DAYS ! Although the wait staff was excellent ! And the Dinner Buffet for €30 was not worth it. AC DIDN’T WORK THE WHOLE TIME.
