About

Villa Campestri is a splendid Renaissance house in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, set on a hillside 1476 feet above sea level and overlooking the Mugello Valley. This fine hotel was carefully restored using authentic materials and maintaining the building’s original appearance. Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort is just 22 mi from Florence and its fascinating atmosphere echoes the history of the surrounding area, which was the home of Giotto, Beato Angelico and the Medici family.

    • The sisters who own it are wonderful. The location and villa was absolutely beautiful and the food from their restaurant was fresh and delicious. We will be back!
    • Beautiful setting, wonderful food and staff.
    • Ok, i grew up in Italy and have traveled all around Europe. This is probably now my new favorite Agriturismo in Italy! And this is not an overstatement. Fantastic staff, gorgeous view and scenery, beautiful pool. We ate dinner on the patio - perfect! and the breakfast ... well, I was speachless. I would pay the price of the stay just for the breakfast. When I checked out I told the lady at the front desk, "ok, I'm ready to move it ... like forever!" :)

    Cons -

    • Nothing!
    • The grounds
    • Premises: we arrived at this place after 5 hours driving. We were pretty tired and were very much looking forward to enjoying what looked like a cozy and quiet place. The claimed "AC" is actually an indoor unit and engine, which made sleeping impossible and did not its AC job properly. In the middle of the night we had to turn it off 'cause if was impossible to sleep and it was too hot anyway. Also, it forced us to keep the window open 'cause it didn't have a proper exhaust. Too bad because the room would have been ok, despite being a bit tiny, if it weren't for a sleepless night.Dinner: outrageous prices for what we ate (dinner cost us more than the stay, which could have been ok, but we thought it was absolutely not worth it). In addition, the service was very late (something must have happened with our order 'cause other couples who arrived after us, and ordered the same things, got served before us), but the point is that we were not informed, had to ask a couple of times (one went unaddressed), and nothing was done to make up for it. Pool: maybe we happened to be there on a bad day but again, we were looking forward to a couple of hours of quiet and relaxing time... but the pool also had some noisy guests (I understand this is a matter of common sense and not necessarily the property responsibility, but up to a certain point). But again, maybe we were just unlucky.

The place is beautiful. Their olive oil and bread are superb.

The breakfast was phenomenal! The pool is fabulous. The Olive Oil tasting was so great - so informative and interesting, definitely worth doing.

Note - it is an old building. No A/C in the summer, but that's manageable with a fan and open window. But it is hot in the summer so be prepared. You are in the countryside, so open windows mean when the sun is coming up you will hear ALL the birds as they stir. Some may find it charming (me), others may be irritable at the early wakeup (DS).

The location and serenity was truly exceptional

The ac units used on the property are not efficient we had sleepless nights because it was sooo hot and yet we turned on the ac but the room was super hot still making it very uncomfortable for us to sleep from the heat and noise from the ac

Loved the owners, Viola and Gemma! Beautiful setting in the countryside, food was excellent, the Villa old and picturesque. GREAT breakfast and wine tasting experience. Nice small town of Vicchio nearby.

We got an upgrade, but ended up with three small darkish rooms, rather than one larger one with the requested two beds. Did not realize there was no elevator, steps were hard on my knees.

The property was beautiful. Very clean and the hosts were very welcoming and friendly. When we asked the reception for any places we could visit, they gave us a few places which are popular in the area. Amazing property with breathtaking views. Definitely worth the money!

    Beautiful and breakfast was amazing!

One staff member was not quite as friendly/welcoming when we arrived, and cooking class with chef was only available in the morning.

The property sits at the top of a hill with sweeping views in every direction of Olive and Fruit trees. The house is more than 800 years old and is breathtaking. The sisters who own the property are so welcoming and friendly, we truly enjoyed talking with them. The rooms are HUGE, the breakfast is out of this world good with every selection of food, coffee and tea you could imagine. Sitting on the patio in the morning was truly special. We were lucky enough to be there for the olive harvest, just fascinating. If you love nature and peace, this is the place to be. We only stayed one night and wished we could have stayed longer, it will recharge your soul.

Breakfast far exceeded other Italian hotels we experienced during our trip. Farm fresh eggs, flaky croissants, great choice of juices, yogurt and more.

    10GaryPosted on: 10-9-2024

Exception and beautiful property, staff friendly and helpful, high-quality restaurant and breakfast - will be back!

Wish I had booked another night to add on to my three days two nights

Everything was more than perfect. The breakfast is outstanding and the views are just like a dream. The staff is super kind and sweet and the rooms were very clean.

The only small issue was that there wasn't any heating in the room and it was too cold.

excellent breakfast on the terrasse, lovely swimming pool surrounded by olive trees. original bedroom decoration. areas to sit outside room to have a drink and relax

Disappointed that the price of the olive oil made on site was so expensive, even if bought in metal containers of 5L The price per litre was way too high. did not by any

A scenic hillside retreat lined with cypress trees. It’s storybook Tuscany! The hotel dates back the 13th century! The staff are genuinely kind and helpful. We had an incredible dinner of Florentine steak, veggies and chocolate soufflé. The wine was perfect. They offer an excellent breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice,Cappuccino's, homemade pastries etc, but also catered to all European and American palettes. They even had eggs and bacon! And the views!

The rooms are large with antique floors and furnishings. It’s lovely, but the bedding is dated and could use a refresh. White sheets and white duvets would brighten the rooms considerably. I’m not complaining-I loved the hotel-just suggesting.

We have visited Villa Campestri on previous occasions and it is nice to see that some things never change. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, even though the style is very classical and somewhat dark.

Information on the restaurant facilities could have been clearer. We were not made aware of the fact that the restaurant only served a fish menu on Sunday, that lunch is no longer served in the restaurant, but a picnic hamper is provided on request, or the need to confirm the hotel restaurant booking by 10AM.

The view is EPICCCC and the staff is super nice! We had an amazing dinner and breakfast at the villa. The view from the swimming pool is absolutely stunning. The vibe of this hotel is great.

    The house, staff was excellent.

Too hot in the room, no air condition, the fan was too loud to use during the night.
