Pros +
- Historic character
- We had a great stay in the cabin for our family of four. It was the best dinner of our trip to Norway so far. Highly recommend making a reservation on the restaurant.
- We stayed in the family room which was very spacious and very comfortable for 3 or 4 adults (we had no children with).Breakfast was excellent- wished we had eaten dinner there.
Cons -
- They can not change these things but…..There is no AC. They did give us a fan which definitely helped.
- Liked it all!
- As you might expect from an historic hotel you can hear the creaks of the floor (my ceiling) from upstairs. However, no one was walking around after 10 PM so no issue during the night.

very good quality breakfast and dinner.room was very comfortable and with plenty of space. very quiet as well.Acommodating staff. walking distance to downtown Stryn.strategic location for the area
Pleasant historical hotel located just outside main town of Stryn. Well designed rooms, comfortable bed, and larger bathroom with hot powerful shower. Enjoyed the balcony. WiFi decent. Breakfast excellent. No other meals offered but suggestion for place in town was well received. Staff quite helpful. Parking spaces were adequate
Liked it all!
175 year old property with all charm of an historic building. The owners Arvin & Maryt were super cordial and helpful. A really charming hotel looking over the lake.

Cozy ambience. Rustic feel. Nice rooms.
Can hear steps and creaks from all guess above. Dinner service was a bit pretentious and lacking friendliness.
Beautiful Historic Hotel with period furnishings. Spacious rooms with balcony to view the fjord. Wonderful restaurant with local ingredients foraged/grown by the chef. Staff was all lovely!
The ONLY downside is a trucking terminal that has been built across the street, which is unfortunate as it’s quite visible from the hotel.
Charming hotel conveniently located. The staff were very friendly and helpful! We booked a family room and the set-up was perfect for our needs to have two connected but separate rooms. We appreciated the fact that the actual shower had a door - huge for us Americans! The breakfast was fabulous! So many homemade or local farmer options and great variety of hot and cold dishes/items. So many rooms including a great porch to just relax on!
Location was very good parking fo rthe car
I didn't like the strange smell that was coming while i was sleeping , which till this momnet im not sure from where !Bed was very comfort Breakfast was nice
Staff friendly and helpful. Dining room so pleasant to be in, and offerings so well crafted and flavorful. New rooms comfortable.
A shelf would be very helpful in the shower to hold toiletries.
Hotel is easy to find and parking was no problem. Hotel is well-maintained and has historic charm, with a large veranda on the front for relaxing and having a drink. Owners are nice.
Despite its visual appeal, this is an older hotel, with small rooms, tight stairs, low doors, and a small bed. The view of the fjord from the veranda is mostly obstructed by trees that block the view of a large industrial area next to the fjord where many trucks and busses are parked. It is quite a walk to downtown. This was our least comfortable stay in Norway and the most expensive, including stays in Bergen and Alesund at top hotels. Dinner with wine cost over $200, also our most expensive, in an already expensive country.
The room was charming, the dining room was airy and overlooked the water, and the dinner was delicious.
The location, right next to a fairly major road and some buses and other industrial stuff.
This stay exceeded our expectations. Such a beautiful hotel with the most amazing décor. We had a set menu style dinner at the hotel and it was the best food we had in Norway! Special mention to Miko - we loved chatting with you and thank you so much for your recommendations.
Location, breakfast
Lots of noice from the main road next to the hotel
The front desk staff were great. The restaurant was top notch for dinner and had a wonderful breakfast with everything you could want. Bed was comfortable and bedding was nice. Nice location on the lake.
Understand that It’s an historic property with period furniture which has both good and bad points.
Visnes Hotel Stryn was absolutely beautiful! We had a gorgeous room with a private balcony. The beds were very comfortable and the shower very nice. The owners and all of the staff are so friendly and welcoming! The breakfast is amazing with local and homemade items. It is an easy walk to the town. I would highly recommend!
Charming hotel with a great family room and proprietor
It became very hot in our room and we couldn’t figure out how to fix it until we unplugged the heater. We had to sleep with the windows open to try to cool off and the road noise was not great for sleep.
Gorgeous 19th century decor in the main building. We were in a cottage next door, beautiful!
The weather, but the hotel and staff couldn't do much about that!
