About
In the middle of the State of Hessen, near the cities of Giessen, Marburg, and Wetzlar, the Castle of Staufenberg has towered on its hill over the little town of Staufenberg since the 13th century. With its imposing appearance, visible far and wide across the lovely Lahn valley, it is still the preferred accommodations for all those who appreciate an elegant atmosphere in a historic setting.

Pros +
- The Staufenberg is a very good hotel with an excellent staff. It's obvious that the bathrooms were extensively remodeled but the beds could be improved. The breakfast was one of the best on our trip and the wait staff, for both dinner and breakfast, probably have doctorates in their trade. They were in the background but waiting to assist at any opportunity. The front desk staff, I believe his name was Michael, helped to put my bike in a locked shed overnight and then informed us on the history of the castle later at dinner.

- The hotel and restaurant staff were all kind and very attentive, comfortable beds , and quality bedding. The restaurant location is amazing, and the food was delicious. Breakfast was best I have I had in a wonderful setting.Location is quiet but close to the motorway and easy to get around, less than 1 hour to Frankfurt airport.

Nothing!
We ate at the restaurant in the hotel and had a wonderful meal. The food was excellent and the waiter and staff were friendly and went out of their way to make our dining experience a memorable one.
We loved everything about our stay!
A very nice and quiet hotel, with a good breakfast with a focus on quality over quantity. The decor is nice and the little playground is fun for the kids.
The room could be a little cleaner. There was a bit of dust on top of lamps, under the bed and those types of places.
The beds were supremely comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant very lovely.
I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks for your exceptional hospitality during our recent stay. Although we arrived quite late, you were incredibly accommodating, ensuring we had food and drinks available. Your friendly demeanour made all the difference.Additionally, I must commend the beautiful location of the hotel and the comfort of the room we stayed in. It truly enhanced our overall experience. Thank you once again for making our stay so enjoyable.
The hotel is amazing, the breakfast had a good variety of food and teas. The views are fantastic.
Only a coffee pod machine in the room, no good for tea drinkers or if you don't like expresso
Excellent food and very good restaurant staff.
With one exception the staff at reception spoke only German.
We wanted to stay in a real castle while visiting Germany. This property was an excellent choice. The staff was friendly, There was onsite parking. The town of Staufenberg was unremarkable, but the nearby town of Marburg was a great place to visit. We really enjoyed the restaurant in the basement with its old vaulted ceiling. The food and wine were good.
We really enjoyed everything about this place. There is no lift, so you need to be prepared to carry your luggage up an old winding castle staircase.

Comfortable small hotel in old castle. Very nice breakfast with outstanding service.
We did not get a dinner reservation due to not booking in advance. No place for towels.
Flot charmerende værelse, god service og betjening og fantastisk morgenmad.

Nestled within the walls of a historic castle, Burghotel Staufenberg offers a unique and enchanting stay, The stay was nothing short of delightful. The hotel maintains a peaceful and quiet setting, perfect for relaxation. One of the highlights of the experience was the nearby restaurant, which was truly excellent, it provided the perfect dining complement to our stay. Overall, Burghotel Staufenberg is an ideal destination for anyone seeking a mix of history, tranquility, and exceptional hospitality.
Our room and bathroom were small but clean. The Hotel isn't far from Marburg and close to the motorway. Breakfast was ok, nothing special.
A better tea/hot water machine that one can use! Never seen such an awkward machine in my life before.
Breakfast was good
We arrived well before the sceduled time they stopped serving dinner. Due to an activity, the kitchen could not take any orders. After a long drive, we went hungry to bed! Honestly, you expect better from a 4 star hotel.

This hotel is located in a medieval castle, so it’s hard to compare it to regular hotels. If you’re looking for an authentic experience of living in a Grimm's German fortress, this is the place for you. The breakfast is fantastic and well-organised.
The staff could be more friendly, but their no-smile attitude adds to the authentic vibe. Also double check when its restaurant closes. You are unlikely to find food in the village after it.
