Hotel am Gothensee

We guess this is a very good option if you are German and/or speak German and travel by car. Otherwise abstain from it.

If you're travelling without a car, this is NOT your choice. The closest supermarkets/shops are at least 20 minutes away (walking), and if you rely on the hotel's restaurant/bar, expect 5,10 EUR for a single bottle of water. Honestly, the pictures show and idyllic place, but the interiors are quite cheap and the rooms so simplistic it's very much annoying being conscious you have paid more than 100 EUR per night for that.Also, the staff does not speak any English —which would not be a problem, but they do not make any efforts whatsoever to try and help you out.We pride ourselves in being very good at selecting hotels for our holidays, but this one has proved one of our biggest —if not the biggest, mistake.

The owner and the staff were exceptionally helpful. The breakfast buffett was nice. Eggs were prepared by cook on the spot - always adding personal touch.

Breakfast was very basic, but I wasn't expecting much at 6,50 €. However, dinner in the restaurant was a big surprise, very tasty, home-like cooked meals, normal prices.The location and the very friendly staff are the best aspects of this accommodation.

The hotel is tranquil not far from the sea and close to a lake. Staff were helpful,available and nothing was too much trouble. We hired bikes for 2 days and had great rides in the countryside and along the coast breakfast is good and evening meals are excellent. We had a lovely time and would not hesitate to recommend this lovely hotel.
