- My husband and I had a lovely stay at Quinta Nova in September. We enjoyed everything that they had to offer. The property is fabulous and offers amazing views. Our room was comfy with a beautiful bathroom and loved the access to the outdoor terrace. The pool was also great! And we loved the patio. A great place to relax on their very comfortable lounge beds and enjoy the spectacular view. Our dinner at Terracu’s was INCREDIBLE and we enjoyed delicious wines with our meal. Our breakfast was also amazing. They have an excellent buffet and offer additional menu items that are prepared in the kitchen. By surprise, We were invited by the winemaker to stomp grapes. It was such a great experience and we had a blast dancing around to traditional Portuguese music. What really makes Quinta Nova a great property to visit is mainly because of their superior Staff! They were all very caring, attentive and wonderful people who took such great care of us. Looking forward to seeing them again next year!
- An exceptionally beautiful Quinta and location. The staff were all welcoming and highly professional. The wine tasting, tour, breakfast and dinner were wonderful. Fabulous experience! Definitely want to return again soon!
- Stunning location and views along the Duoro River. The property is lovely, extremely well kept, with wonderful outdoor sitting areas. The rooms were not extravagant but very nice, and the onsite restaurant for breakfast and dinner was good and fairly reasonable. The front desk arranged a wonderful day long wine tour and tasting trip for us.
Cons -
- Nothing to improve upon.
- The pricing is a bit high, otherwise we would have stayed longer. Would still recommend it, though. The hospitality could have been more timely and attentive in the restaurant and poolside service.
- What a disappointment. Spending so much money for such an underwhelming experience. Except the dining room, which is nice, each room, beginning from the reception, the bedrooms, the lounge rooms, everything was old and the aesthetics just so frustratingly unpleasing, not up to the standards of a Relais & Chateaux, no wow factor whatsoever. No fireplace was working and dirty dishes in one of the lounge rooms stayed there for hours.

The beds were super comfy. And the ac was great. We loved the welcome gift of port, cherries, and local bread. The views were inspiring and the food and wine were delicious

Wonderful location, incredible service, great welcome, exceptional food & wine. Slight time warp...emphasis on wine, food, nature, tradition. Very relaxed - more like being a private guest than a customer.
Great place, beautiful scenery, good and helpful staff. Great restaurant too.
Staff was friendly, dining room is nice, good breakfast, great views.

Excellent restaurant, fantastic views of the Douro Valley with walking trails through the vineyards and very welcoming and knowledgable staff
Breathtaking views. Excellent wine. An amazing and friendly staff.
Staff greeted us in a friendly and helpful manner. The views from the room and terrace were stunning. We had a great couple of days and enjoyed the wines and particularly the wine tasting enormously.
In the morning there was only one coffee jug for all the tables and seemed always empty for all. One per table would seem easier .
Fantastic location on top of a hill, surrounded by vineyards
The historic building is nice, but the rooms are small and overpriced. Same for the restaurant: good but overpriced.
Location exceptional , decoration and ambiance very good
breakfast very good. Lunch and dinner could be much better with more simple meals
The various hours for dining services (pool, bar, restaurant, room service) should be posted at each location.
Absolutely beautiful house in a stunning setting. Very comfortable rooms, lovely dining and relaxing areas. Great infinity pool with views of the vineyards. Nice wine museum and tour. We loved the boat ride the hotel organised up the river to Pinhâo. Friendly, helpful staff.
The hotel is somewhat let down by the very limited food and beverage options. We enjoyed the breakfasts but the formal restaurant is the only option for dining in the evening and the menu is limited and the quality variable. My husband enjoyed his meat based main courses both nights but I tried a fish dish which was bland and very insubstantial and the second night a couscous dish which was quite watery and again very small ( especially given the 34 € price charged). The hotel advertises numerous places to dine during the day( pool, bar, lounge), but all offer the same very limited menu. Given the remoteness of the hotel there recalls needs to be a wider range of meals provided, included more casual options for the evenings. Numerous previous reviewers appear to have highlighted this issue over the last couple of years but perhaps the management are not open to responding to the feedback?
A stunning location with beautiful views all around! The property is immaculately maintained, lovely tall cypress trees line the outdoor areas with views of the vineyards & river beyond.Very comfortable rooms, wonderful interiors. Many options for sitting outdoors, including a pool. The restaurant offers delicious breakfast and dinner, excellent service! We tried many of the wines both from Quinta Nova as well as the Dao winery - superb ?
Absolutely nothing!
Our stay here was idyllic. The staff and property were warm, professional, and delivered consistent five star hospitality, cuisine and accommodations. The UNESCO World Heritage Douro Valley views here are the absolute best in the area. Highly recommend!
There was nothing we didn’t enjoy. It was exquisite in every aspect.
We enjoyed the winery tour and wine tasting. The staff were friendly and helpful. The outdoor area is lovely, surrounded by beautiful views.
For a Relais & Chateaux property, I expected certain amenities like a safe and TV in the room, which were surprisingly absent. The breakfast options were quite limited, very basic . It was served indoors, which was disappointing, especially considering it was June and could have been enjoyed on their terrace. Dinner was served outdoors, and although the food was tasty, the portion sizes were disappointingly small. We expected better.
A wonderful location with a swimming pool and beautiful views over the vineyard and the Douro river. Lovely, helpful staff and a very comfortable room with great facilities. The restaurant was also excellent with high quality food and drink from breakfast through to dinner. Great walk through the vineyard to the Douro and an interesting winery tour and tasting. We also had a private boat trip up the Douro to Pinhão which was magical.
Beautiful locationLovely people
Small roomsUnderwhelming degustatiom at the restaurantOverpriced for what it is.
Luxurious stay with phenomenal views of the Douro River and Valley. Breakfast with fresh fruit, cheeses, meats, yogurt, grains, juices, pastries, bread, coffee, tea was wonderful. The terraces permitted and encouraged relaxing and tranquil lounging. Rooms were clean, generally well-furnished, with spa-like bathrooms. The staff were particularly helpful with our day touring arrangements, making dinner reservations for us in Pinhao.
There was minimal storage space (drawers) for clothing. Even a nightstand with drawers would have been helpful. A small TV screen in the bedrooms would have been welcome, The wine museum tour was too simplistic. A tour showing the current wine making process would have been better. Lastly, my family would have really enjoyed having breakfast and dinner outside, but we understand that it was likely logistically easier for service to be in the dining room.
