    Pros +

    • This charming family-owned hotel offers thoughtfully and tastefully decorated rooms. Conveniently located right across from Au train station, it makes travel easy. The train ride to Zurich HB takes only about 35 minutes. I stayed in the Laguna room, which faces a busy road, yet I didn’t hear any traffic at all thanks to the excellent soundproofing. The room itself is spacious, with ample storage and a large work desk. The daily breakfast spread was excellent, with plenty of variety. The hosts are warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about hospitality. I would be delighted to stay here again when I am in the area.
    • We got the best sleep here! The king beds were outstanding and so comfy. The whole place is very interesting but totally worth it! The room was lovely and spacious for our family of 4 and the breakfast was dynamite! Thank you Gunter and all! You made our final days in Switzerland the absolute best!
    • Mr Gunnar Hopf ,the owner of the hotel was exceptionally friendly and kind. Even we did not buy breakfast , since he realized we had our eggs :)) , he permitted us to use the kitchen , and also he gave us wonderful recommendations for the best hikes and the swimming possibilities in the lake , so bec of him we tremendously enjoyed the area , we realized that the location of the hotel is perfect, and also he gave us some very valuable advise where to park our car , the best price for the city parking , and not finished yet , just before check in he prepared wonderful coffees for us . I am in the travel business for more than 30 years , Gunnar is one of the most professional manager I have ever met. I should also mention that this hotel is really like an living Art Museum.

    Cons -

    • The AU stop was a bit lacking for things to do. You have to travel to the stop before or after to get a good amount of restaurants. Just keep that in mind coming and going. Overall, a great stay for the price and we did enjoy being outside the hustle and bustle of Zurich.
    • We enjoyed everything .
    • A bit of flies issue - also super polite staff but it is more like a family business than a typical hotel

    Hidden gem - spacious rooms!

A beautiful place inside and out! The rooms are comfortable and beautifully curated. Gunter and the staff are the kindest, most helpful and friendly people! A gorgeous stroll to the lake is right across the street as well as the train station

It was a dream! Nothing to complain about

Staying at this hotel was a one-of-a-kind experience! Gunther, the host, made me us completely at home. His warmth, friendliness, and genuine willingness to help were truly exceptional. He went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, making my stay incredibly memorable. The hotel itself is like a living museum—every corner holds a special piece of art with beautiful, unique furniture and decor that tell their own stories. Walking through the hotel felt like exploring a carefully curated gallery, yet it remained cozy and welcoming. If you're looking for a place that's not just a stay but an experience, this is it. I can't recommend it enough for anyone who appreciates charm, character, and outstanding hospitality!

Excellent staff. The room was large, unique, clean, and comfortable. Lake and walking trails are a few minutes walk away. Train station and grocery store are close as well. A/C provided and needed for the hot summer days. Easy free parking out front. Highly recommend this hotel bed and breakfast.

One of the beds was a bit firm for what we prefer.

    10MariaPosted on: 8-5-2024

The staff is incredibly kind and helpful. Sven and Arne are such amazing people.

    10SimonPosted on: 7-25-2024

Big rooms with great interiors. Hidden gems close by like the castle, a vineyard and several great spots for swimming in the lake. Close to the station and only 25 mins to the city centre.

    10GabrielaPosted on: 7-18-2024

The hotel with its themed rooms is a fun experience and yet makes for a very comfortable stay. And Arne is the sweetest, most attentive manager who jumped through hoops to make all our special requests a reality! Thank you!

It is ca. 30 minutes outside of the city, but if you have the time to commute, it’s not an issue.

    10AricaPosted on: 7-13-2024

Arne was such an incredible host!!! Like whenever we think of your boutique hotel moving forward, we will first think of him. He gave us a tour of the property and he was so friendly and he gave us a lot of advice and answered our questions.

It was nice having a quiet neighborhood away from the city, but could have been more exciting to be a little closer to Zürich.

    10LinditaPosted on: 7-12-2024

The staff was so helpful and so kind. The hotel wasn’t your usual type of hotel, it was better. The art work, decor, cleanliness, and friendliness made you feel like you were at a home away from home. Breakfast was my favorite part of the day. Gorin (I believe that’s how you spell his name) did everything he could to make you happy while enjoying breakfast and he makes the best cappuccino.

I wish I had a few more pillows while sleeping, but no big deal.

    10ElizabethPosted on: 7-2-2024

Arne who checked us in was extremely helpful and friendly. He saw us approaching and came outside to help us carry in our bags, told us everything we might want to know about the property and how to travel around, and then came with us to our room to make sure we knew how to use the remotes, coffee pot, TV, etc. Location is great - about a 1-2 minute walk to the AU ZH train station. It's a quiet little town. I didn't realize it was "outside" of Zurich when I booked, but the locals said they never get Zurich tourists there. It was about a 20 minute train ride to Zurich, but for the price and convenience, I think it's a great place to stay. I would definitely recommend it!

Nothing - just be aware of the location when you book.

    8WhiteheadPosted on: 6-30-2024

Spacious comfortable room and very hospitable hosts with the best breakfast!

slightly further out of town..but right on the train line!

    10SoonPosted on: 6-24-2024

Arne was exceptionally helpful. He not only continued replying to my queries well after hours, he even made his way back to the premises to provide a kettle which I asked for.

There are some cows that do abit of “mooing”. Doesn’t bother me but it may be an issue if you are a light sleeper.

    9MohamedPosted on: 6-11-2024

Spacious, theme based decoration, comfy bed, close proximity to basic needs like food, train, supermarket.

Proximity to road and train track. Hence, some noise to be expected but traffic is light and acceptable.
