The rooms were gorgeous and the ground were beautiful. We were able to explore the Pousada as well as the gardens. The views were amazing and the way they share information about the history of the area who is really unique and fun. breakfast was very plentiful and delicious.

It was the holidays so some of the little shops were closed.

Everything. It was a castle! Breakfasts were wonderful. We spent 3 nights here in their suite.

    No complaints

It is well situated, and has beautiful views. It has modern amenities within a historical settings. The staff was friendly and welcoming.

    I really don’t have anything that I didn’t like.

The hotel in the castle is amazing idea, we really enjoyed our stay and would like to come back another time. Ladies in the reception are very helpful. As a big plus and what is the supercool, we traveled with dog and were really happy to receive a welcome present for her from the hotel! Looks like a good value for stay per night P.s. even though I still do not understand why hotels charge extra for just a small well behaved hypoallergenic dog

The waiter in the restaurant should be properly trained: bring the right ordered dishes, not mix cutlery & wine glasses, listen carefully to guests and move more efficiently. Also, the food in the evening was not the tastiest we tried (however prawns with noodles they was great, chicken pot was good too), unfortunately, there is nothing special tastiest in the breakfast and quite annoying to ask the same waiter for the hot water all the time.

The ambiance and everyone was very friendly. A lot of character

The bathroom was a little outdated and small

So so perfect for our last night in Portugal. Wish we could’ve stayed at the castle longer. Best place we stayed on our 2 week vacation and best breakfast.

We loved everything! The staff was very kind and helpful, breakfast was wonderful, and we had the most fabulous view from our room. The town of Palmela was more beautiful than we expected. Can't wait to return.

    Not one single complaint!

Beautiful renovated castle, hotel facilities were very nice, front desk staff very friendly and bed was comfortable. Very nice venue with open courtyard in the middle. Breakfast was well appointed and offered a lot of variety.

Only downside was thr air conditioning in the room was not great, more like a fan vs real air conditioning so room was stuffy at night and with no screens on window couldn’t leave it open without getting flies and mosquitoes in the room.

The history around the castle grounds was quite interesting and a photographer's playground for capturing memorable pics. The view being we were so high on a hilltop provided an incredible panorama of the valley and city of stark white houses and red-tiled roofs. The staff was amazingly accommodating to our questions and needs. One gentleman was able to locate a place in Lisbon for us where we could enjoy a night of fado at A Severna even though it was a Thursday evening and not the weekend. This answered my personal longing to see a fado the night before leaving to go back to the US.

I wished we could have enjoyed the full breakfast in the morning of checkout, but we had to catch an early flight back to the US. The staff provided basic box lunches for us instead.

We enjoyed wandering around the castle ruins and the beautiful views . We enjoyed the breakfast.

    Some mildew in the bathroom

    8GinaPosted on: 5-16-2025

The view was absolutely amazing. Walking the castle grounds and the park across the caste very relaxing.

Really needed a car to get around. Had a few issues with the room. Burnt out lightbulb in bathroom. A/C didn't cool, weather was cool enough that we left window open. The mini fridge was not cold.

Amazing location, room and breakfast. Very friendly staff

Lack of gym, spa or swimming pool. Those would have made the hotel truly exceptional

    9MPosted on: 4-8-2025

Excellent breakfast, with multiple choices, fresh fruit, cheases and meat, a variety of hot and cold, bread, pastries. Everything freash and well presented. The setting around the courtyard inside the old monestary was really something to enjoy. Both evening dinner and breakfast is served in the same area. We had the meat on the menu. Prime choice!

If you are staying during high season, parking might be somewhat limited, at least if you want to park near the actual entrance to the posada. Not a big problem though, there is always something.

Clean and nice hotel with friendly staff. The breakfast was international and nice. You may have a slight bad smell outside, there must be an olive oil factory or something similar near by. But you won’t have it indoors. I’m sensitive to smells.

Very nice Pousada at the top of a mountain with spectacular views. Our room had a super comfy bed and pillows. The staff was friendly. We ate in the on site restaurant. It was very good.

Loved the grounds and the walkable castle and trails down to the town. Rooms were lovely and the dinner was exceptional. Would have loved to stay longer
