- Excellent property
Cons -
- Breakfast staff were not very helpful, lady on morning of Friday 27th September should not be in that role in our view.
- My only complaint is that the door to our room was tough to handle, especially with weakened 'old' hands. But by the end of our stay, I think I finally figured out how to work the lock and door handle.
- The steps up to reception. A sign saying leave your luggage at the street level would avoid unnecessary handling.

A beautiful little hotel that has captured its history with original wood walls, antiques throughout and yet updated for modern comfort. Also the breakfast was plentiful and good.
My only complaint is that the door to our room was tough to handle, especially with weakened 'old' hands. But by the end of our stay, I think I finally figured out how to work the lock and door handle.
Beautiful building that has been sensitively renovated. Nice breakfast, very quiet, no street noise.

Beautifully decorated, intimate and cosy with all modern cons - absolute heaven and I slept so well! I’ve been to Hydra a number of times and this is now by far my preferred place to stay.
Nothing at all, it really is a gem!
Nice location- gentle slope from port - big room - exceptionally good quality bedding and towels- very friendly manager/owner
I didn’t like not having any outside space to room- however this was my choice as other rooms that had outside space were on 2 floors. breakfast wasn’t to my taste as a lot of sweet stuff- to be honest though I find this in most Greek hotels - so more a taste thing on my part
The atmosphere, the breakfast, Giannis who went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one.
We’ve been coming for a few years now and it feels like home, but the hotel is a bit outdated and needs a little renovation
The hotel is beautiful. There are so many antiques decorating the building. Breakfast was amazing every morning. The staff could not have been friendlier. The walk to the hotel did not have stairs you just had to be careful walking on the stone road.
It was a hike up the road, but by the third day it wasn't so bad.
it was quiet. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was okay. Housekeeping was wonderful.
we had a split level suite. It was dark in the room.
The heritage of the building and the sympathetic renovations.
The breakfast was ordinary compared to the many other places we stayed. The eggs were watery, the coffee was lukewarm and when the staff were asked if they could warm it, it seemed like too much trouble.
Everything was outstanding: service, cleanliness, comfort, breakfast, staff, location!
Historic well maintained building. Interesting floor layout. Very friendly staff. A cozy exclusive feel to the place, due to the small number of rooms.
A loud refrigerator one always needed to turn off. A chip card for the room electricity. No charging station that keeps the power when you are out. Some minor broken parts in the bathroom. For a hotel in this price category this should be changed/fixed ASAP.The breakfast was not as good as I expected it. The staff wouldn't offer to make a fresh omelet or eggs the way one likes it. Same with other offerings of coffee other than the filter coffee provided.
Very nice cosy boutique hôtel, well situated in Hydra. An exceptionnal welcome, by Yannis, who recommended us the best adress for drink, lunch, dinner and beach. We have spent a wonderful time there
Beautiful, lots of character. Historic. Comfortable. Great breakfasts.
I cannot express how pleased we were with our stay here. Due to a booking snafu, we had to split our two night stay at two separate locations. So, we booked this hotel for our second night at the last minute. The first night was spent at a more expensive hotel with a waterfront view. However, after staying at the Cotommate Hydra 1810, we wished we had stayed both nights there. The staff was incredibly sweet and helpful- arranging luggage transfer and making dinner reservations for us as well. This was far superior to the treatment at our first location. The room was lovely with a historical feel, but with modern conveniences. Special touches included sampling of homemade cherry preserves and a sweet local to Hydra. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding with a huge variety of dishes to please diverse tastes. The grounds are spectacular as well with a lovely garden and terrace overlooking the countryside that was a lovely spot in the evening. It is only a five minute walk (maybe) from the bustle of the harbor but so tranquil and peaceful compared to our noisy experience staying by the waterfront. Overall, the experience felt more like being welcomed into a family home than a hotel. Absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend this location, and would be ecstatic to get to go back again sometime in the future! Thank you!!
There was nothing about this property we didn't love. The only possible negative would be that it is not on the waterfront, as some people really want that experience. As I said, this hotel far exceeds our waterfront hotel experience on Hydra.
Nice breakfast buffet. Room comfortable and the house is at a good location (close to the sea front but in a calm street). Yiannis explained what is where on the island and suggested some nice activities.
Our room was very close to the entry and reception and did not feel very private.
One of the original mansions converted to a pretty, historic hotel. Loved all the courtyards, balconies, sitting areas, little gardens. Very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you Yanni!Location perfect, 300 yards from the port; busy, touristy area with all the restaurants and shops. But the hotel itself is in very quiet, peaceful area.Breakfast was nice, maybe should be more varied from day to day. Classic Greek breakfast.
Being a historic mansion with much of the furnishings still original and restored, things are pretty, but not modern. AC could be little better, but was acceptable.Bathroom little cramped, lot of water splashing. No big deal.
Superb
They ran out of food at breakfast one day, even though we were not late. That was not really appropriate considering it was part of the rate.
beautiful historic property, well modernized. Yannis was an excellent host. Views from all angles were expansive and colorful.
