- Staff was absolutely lovely and very hospitable! We traveled in off-season with the family and look forward to visiting again. Great location, lovely, hotel, staff and modern clean room.
Cons -
- It was perfect.
- DO NOT BOOK HERE! Hopefully this review changes the mind of any tourist/couple considering to book here. Our stay at this hotel was very disappointing. The room itself was extremely small, with no closet or proper space to store luggage, even for a couple with carry-ons. On top of that, the shower was clogged with hair/gunk, and the bidet was also out of order, which made the bathroom practically unusable. Room service was never done. The breakfast was average at best—nothing memorable or worth highlighting. What made the experience even worse was that we had to check out early due to a medical emergency abroad. The receptionist explained to my spouse in Greek that she would honour a partial reimbursement once we submit it on Booking; which we did right away before taking our ferry to Athens. The hotel refused to honour this even though we had a written a verbal agreement and a confirmation on Whatsapp. The lack of empathy and flexibility was very disheartening. Booking is unable to do anything because the hotel refuses the reimbursement. I am now disputing it with AMEX a month after our stay in Syros. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel. Between the broken amenities, cramped room, and poor service, it was a very disappointing experience. Also their sister restaurant is an overpriced taverna.

Staff was absolutely lovely and very hospitable! We traveled in off-season with the family and look forward to visiting again. Great location, lovely, hotel, staff and modern clean room.
We arrived in the mid-morning from the ferry, which is a 8 minute walk at a slow pace away from the port. The location is at one edge of the old town where it was quiet. We were warmly greeted by the concierge, Maria. We asked if we could get into the room early, but as expected it was still being cleaned – and the room was spotless when we returned at the promised time, 12:30PM, still very early versus normal check-in time. She gave us some awesome cold water to drink and a map of the city and told us the best places to eat and generally added wonderful color to our arrival. When we returned Maria informed us that they had already put our bags in our perfect room that we left behind while exploring the old town. Then she came to the room bearing gifts of fresh squeezed lemonade (best we have ever had) and Turkish candies. She explained everything to us – the free cold water in the mini-bar, the AC, coffee machine, etc. We took a shower in the mid afternoon – best shower I can remember. It is a true rain-head shower. The water came out at high volume and easily controlled for temperature. They had two each bottles of (all Olive Extract) body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion for me and my wife – a total of 8 in all. The towels are huge and thick. Unlike most European places we have stayed, they had real washcloths. The room is smartly and simply decorated and has a 14 foot ceiling making the room feel much bigger than it is. The room layout was intelligently designed, no cheap Mickey Mouse decorations or broken anything. Just what you need and nothing you don’t - with plenty of room to easily move around. The overall classy and peaceful ambiance just resonated with us. You can see the great pictures of the stone reception area and rooms, of course. In the end, Maria made it one of the best hotel experiences in my 50 years of traveling.
It was perfect.

Excellent 5 star renovated neoclassical building, luxurious rooms with high decorated ceilings, perfect internal and external illumination and furnishings. Staff was very courteous and responsive to any requests.
Everything was great.
Decoration, location, bathroom, service. Our overall experience was very good.
Our room was small.
Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff and a great location! Staff was very helpful getting us restaurant reservations and helping us get around the island with renting a car, they would call us a taxi by simply asking via WhatsApp message.
Very minor wish they would have had robes in the room.
Not only is there a cold breakfast but it includes many options of hot breakfasts within the price. Everything was yummy! Helen receptionist was helpful and friendly. Location is incredible
NOTHING! Everything was excellent.
Loved this hotel, great location staff were amazing and accommodating, had a complementary shoulder massage.
This property is stunning! Every inch is beautifully decorated and clean! It has so much character and is such a comfortable place to stay! Truly one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at! The staff could not have been more kind and helpful and the breakfast was delicious! This is such a special gem and I would highly recommend anyone stay here!
We stayed here for my wife's birthday. This lovely hotel was perfect for us. Great central location with the most amazing staff. Everyone from the front desk to the breakfast crew at the restaurant was so friendly, kind, and helpful. Breakfast was extensive and delicious. The room was luxurious, with a very comfortable bed, cold AC, and a spotless bathroom. Everything in town was at our doorstep, but we also rented ATVs to explore the rest of the island. When I return to Syros, I will definitely stay here again.
Everything was perfect. Zero complaints.
This is a beautiful newer property with an amazing staff and an outstanding breakfast! We didn't use the spa but it looked fabulous! Rooms are extremely comfortable and the location is excellent! Pepe and Maria at the front desk were both extremely knowledgable and made great recommendations for places to go in the area. Thank you ladies!!!
Fantastic boutique hotel in a beautifully renovated historic building. Spacious modern rooms . Superb location and fantastic staff. Walked everywhere and hired a car for driving around the island .
Complimentary Coffee facility in the room would have been nice
Beautiful hotel and very cozy - very authentic and original in design and the comfort was amazing
Stayed at other hotels in the area and yes you get a bit more at this hotel - but I do not think it is worth the extra cost of this hotel. Basically - loved everything about the hotel but the going rate in Syros for luxury or semi-luxury hotels is at a much lower point than this hotel
Very friendly and efficient check-in and -out. Staff very helpful and caring. Rooms were immaculate and seemed very new. Although building is historic, interior is discreetly modern and comfortable.
Small Spa area opposite of reception is sub-optimal, but space is limited in this beautifully renovated historic building.
The room was fantastic, quiet, dark, great pillows and bedding. It was also very clean.
The breakfast was only average sadly. Some fruit would have been nice.
Accomodating and clean, breakfast great, would highly recommend this stay.
Staying at Castro was such a pleasure. The staff were exceptional. Their recommendations were on point. The rooms were clean. The facilities exceptional. And the location was central. Would stay again and recommend for others to stay. Thank you Castro team for your hospitality we are appreciate everything you did for us.
The location was perfect. Super clean hotel, nice service from the staff and we really liked the aesthetics of the hotel. Very comfortable bed and pillows.
The Breakfast buffet was poor, not representative of a 5-star hotel. They had an issue with the shower as the water was coming out of the shower and the bathroom floor was ending having water all over the place. The bed side light wasn’t functioning on one side of the bed. There is no room service if you need food at night. The hotel restaurant was closed throughout the day. I don’t think this is considered to be a 5-star hotel in overall as they claim which is why it’s not a great value for money hotel.
