Pros +
- It is perfect for climbing to the Etna. Just next to the Funivia ( 50 euro) and at walking distance for the crateri silvestri (no need to take the Funivia fot those craters).. The refugio has a Pizzeria and a Snack shop. You can buy presents as well. Many options to buy excursions, quads etc.You can park the car for free.
- Lokation is great. Rooms clean.
- Stayed here before. Really don't have much of a choice. Only one other B&B in the village. Stayed there before, wasn't happy with it. Rooms are basic but comfortable. Good choices for breakfast. Very friendly staff. Great dining room & selections. Special parking area for those who stay there.
Cons -
- They tried to sell us a excursion to the top, for 90 euros, on a day that was shitty because the visibility was very bad. It ended up raining, cold, and it was very foggy. It was not even worth going up the funivia, due to the fog. They should be honest with the weather and not to try to sell the excursion on a day like that.
- Breakfast poor. But in general ok.
- Hallway lights need to come on sooner and stay on longer. Especially at night.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating -- I could leave my larger backpack with them in the reception while I went on an all-day tour up Mt. Aetna. Location was perfect for an early morning start up Mt. Aetna.
Seemed pretty expensive for a Rifugio.
Great location! Sleeping rooms were adequate, think ski lodge - a bit rough but clean room, linen and bathroom. Good breakfast. Restaurant on site for dinner was good for dinner.
Parking a challenge sometimes, particularly on weekends.
Have stayed there multiple times. Always enjoyed it. Stayed at another location once, not so thrilled. Breakfast was good. Dinner and dining room was great.
Some rooms could be cleaned better
We arrived early and were able to check in right away. Perfect spot for exploring Mount Etna. The balcony was amazing and we enjoyed dinner at the restaurant.
We had an incredible dinner, served by the owner , featuring locally grown foods. The location was above the Sylvester crater where the tour buses go. Rooms are simple, but clean and well stocked. Many pastries to choose from at breakfast. A great home base to explore Etna.
Modest, but clean and comfortable 6000 ft. On Mt. Etna. Next to the funicular to 8500 ft. Good facilities, restaurant, snack bar, everything you need to explore Mt. Etna
The hard working, knowledgeable staff run a well organized great facility. The rooms are comfortable and everything you need is there: bar, restaurant, guided tours. Breakfast is great. Their own large parking lot You feel like you’re staying in a Swiss chalet.
Not a thing
We really enjoyed our stay in spectacular surroundings. The rooms in the refuge are basic and a bit dated, but the welcome was warm and we were very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant, and had the best pizzas of our trip.
Can’t complain about anything
The personnel was kind, helpful and fun. They were really enjoying working there and it transpired in the interaction with the customer.
There was nothing that I didn't particularly like.
The location is perfect and the facilities are clean.
This is a hotel to access an amazing location and activities. Expect it to be practical, clean, and well run. It’s not a luxury hotel but a way to have adventure at your finger tips.
Fantastic locationGood food
We had a running toilet that kept us up all night. We put towels around it to muffle sound .the room clean but needs an upgrade
The location is very close to Mount Etna.
No heating after April — I was there in May and it got quite chilly at night.
Great location!!Guided tours start in front of the Rifugio Sapienza; alpine guides are very knowledgeable and make the tour very interesting.I recommend to book the tours of the volcano with the alpine guides; the reservation has to be made et the Rifugio Sapienza. The restaurant cooks excellent food. The room was clean and the staff very nice.
A place for a night's stay on Mount Etna, good food at a reasonable price & friendly staff, all in all a good hotel
Rooms could do with a bit of TLC, like damaged toilet seat in room 24,drinks a bit over priced
Excellent location to start your excursion on the Etna.Very good breakfast and spatious family room.
The shower tap was broken and impossible to switch off the heating in one of the rooms.
There was someone to meet us, despite huge delays with flights that meant we didn’t arrive until 1:30am! The location is great, and they booked us onto the tour as well which was also excellent. The breakfast was good with a good choice of options and very friendly staff.
Everything was perfect: location, bedroom, staff, restaurant... 10/10.
