- We cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at La Almunia del Valle! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome. They remembered our names, checked in on our plans each day, and went above and beyond to help us organize hikes, activities, and dinner plans. Their warmth and attention to detail genuinely set this place apart! The food was incredible! Fresh, thoughtful, and beautifully prepared. Breakfast and dinner overlooking the mountains was a highlight! And the views… absolutely breathtaking! The hotel sits quietly in the hills near Monachil (a quaint town with some great local spots for tapas!), close to some fantastic hikes and just far enough from Granada to feel peaceful without being inconvenient. We loved our stay so much that we actually extended it — and would have stayed longer if we could! This is one of those rare places where you instantly feel both cared for and completely relaxed. Highly, highly recommend. We can’t wait to come back!
- Amazing!! We wish we would stay longer! The views are something to remember. Breakfast is very good, we couldn't eat outside because the wasps were hungrier than us. The pool is great (very cold) and the honesty bar offers very nice stuffThe room is luxury room with Hamam-like shower!! We loved the extra touches of the nuts in the room fresh from the trees!!
Cons -
- It is a little remote and challenging to reach, but worth the drive
- More of an improvement rather than dislike - I think at the end of the breakfast 10:30, you still should maintain the food as we came to some empty plates on the buffet, as the wasp ate my plate, i couldn't get from the same things we took because i took the last bits..
- The road leading up to hotel is not for the fainthearted driver.

Food amazing! Have never had such a lovely breakfast in any other hotel. Dinner was a joy and the views from terrace breathtaking.
The road leading up to hotel is not for the fainthearted driver.
Fantastic staff, beautiful location, amazing chef, wonderful cool saltwater pool. The natural environment and views were phenomenal. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and they changed our room (even though they were fully booked) so that there were the least amount of stairs to negotiate. The room was very quiet, great bed, great shower., We didn't expect to have dinner there every night but the food, service and view were so fabulous that we did eat there every night. They give you the menu each morning and you can decide whether you want to have dinner there that night. They created an individualized menu around our dietary restrictions. Breakfast was pretty terrific, too. Owners are caring, friendly and hands on.
I'm an over-packer (sorry) and also brought along laptop and files and writing material I was working on. So I had a lot of "stuff" with me and had to rearrange things in the room a bit to find places for my things. However, I adjusted and got creative so it was no problem. Also, the gracious staff helped us get everything to our room.
In no particular order, we really liked the following things: the fig tree that graces the dining area (so delicious), Patricia the proprietor of the hotel and much of her staff, namely Begoña, Ana and Ariadne, are totally wonderful and attentive, the swimming pool area, the beautiful breakfast, the surrounding landscape and hikes along the river, the small size of the property (10-15 rooms)…
Steep and narrow road (to paradise).
We had a wonderful stay, breakfast and dinner were super, location fantastic, staff and host super friendly. We loved it!
The location was beautiful and we enjoyed being surrounded by nature. The staff was also exceptional in making us feel at home, answering all the questions we had about various activities and sharing their favorite, local recommendations.
The property is located near the base of the Sierra mountains, about 25 minutes from the city center. It may not seem that long of a drive but this is through narrow streets in small towns and in the end, up a very large hill with one lane access only. We didn’t want to deal with driving so taxi’d everyday - it ended up being the same cost as renting a car but it did feel like a chore everyday to have to figure out transportations. So would advise doing your own research!
Location, view, attentive staff, fantastic room, delicious food and the cute house dog.
We had a wonderful stay at Almunia del Valle. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful, and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. It’s perfectly located for easy access to the Sierra Nevada – we even managed to fit in a short ski day. A very special thanks to Ana at reception, who went above and beyond by personally dropping off a forgotten phone charger at our hotel in Granada. Thank you again!
Absolutely stunning stay near Granada! This hotel is tucked away in a peaceful, beautiful area with breathtaking mountain views right from the room. Our room was flawless – a lovely, secluded terrace, a gorgeous bathroom with a huge shower, and the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in for a long time.Breakfasts were a daily highlight – fresh and delicious, with eggs made to order and excellent coffee! If you stay for dinner (which you absolutely should), the food is hands down the best I’ve eaten. As a vegetarian, it was such a joy to be in Spain and eat fresh, healthy, food - Michelin stars all round if it was up to me!The hotel is also perfectly located – just a 20-minute drive from the Alhambra, making it ideal for a day trip without the hassle of staying in the city. Nearby, there’s a good walk (with five bridges to cross by a gorge), a beautiful three-hour hike that the staff will recommend – it’s well worth the effort. The staff are fantastic – warm, welcoming, and always helpful. All in all, a perfect escape – I can’t wait to return. Thank you!!
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. The online check-in process via the web form was easy and convenient. Communication prior to our arrival was clear and efficient, thanks to the chat feature on Booking. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Ana, who provided us with a lot of information and guided us to our room. The morning shift staff were equally friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delightful, offering a variety of options, including alternatives suitable for my pregnancy diabetes. The location is stunning; don't be deterred by the winding roads leading up to it—the scenic views are well worth the journey. We also had the opportunity to dine at the hotel. The food was refined and reasonably priced, and the service was friendly. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent service, beautiful location, and great amenities.
This was a magical place. The staff gives you such a warm welcome that you feel right at home. The rooms are light and airy and Also give a homely feeling. The breakfast was amazing and the luxury off having dinner in this place is nice as well. The diner itself was a bit pricey for us because we normally only eat Max 2 courses. It was good though.
Rooms are comfortable. All food was imaginative, well prepared and tasty. Lovely views from well cared for gardens. Staff are very helpful with all aspects of your stay
It’s quite a distance from any amenities. As with most of Spain dinner services start late
Such a beautiful and peaceful small and charming hotel. Breakfast and dinner are exceptional as well as the wine list. There is a magnificent walk to make in the area that the owner recommended us and it was amazing. Everyone is so friendly. You can only feel home. We prolonged with a night.
We stayed here for three days and absolutely loved it. The staff and owners who are ready to assist and make your stay a real pleasure were amazing!
The location is great as you have Granda just down the hill and the ski slopes just 40 mins away. A great value for money was hotel with really great buffet breakfast and dinner service. Also there is a really beautiful river canyon walk with several hanging bridges really close bye. I can really recommend a stay at La Almunia del Valle.
Host’s were fabulous! Rooms were lovely.Food was spectacular!!
The entrance to the property was not clearly marked and the long, steep driveway was poorly maintained
Phantastic location, embedded in nature but still close to Granada and hiking routes.People coming there are obviously settled and not the youngest anymore, though there was one couple with a child.Very nice hotel on different levels, friendly and very accommodating staff and cosy places to be in- and outside. Useful information about visiting Granada, hiking, and restaurants (be aware that you will get the top league - for more simple choices, you have to look yourself).Dinner is good, though the vegetarian option could have a bit more taste - don't expect the new style veggie cooking. Breakfast is tending towards brunch, very nice. There is no traditional ham and cheese platter - no problem, but be aware if this is a must for you.
Limited coffee choices. No problem for us, since we do not drink any, but could be for others. The price is the price - you know it beforehand :)
Everything. In nature, but close to the city. Wonderful staff. Spacious, comfortable and well appointed bedroom with private outside space. Excellent breakfast.
Beautiful building and views, super well designed and great food!Great hiking
Pool is filled with water from the mountains and is freezing cold (~15 degrees in October) Breakfast is delicious but lacks some basics like eggs, ham, sausage, etc.
