Stella Maris Shore House

This hotel was utterly fantastic. The location was beautiful. The house was fantastic. Breakfast was very yummy.

Excellent location and service. The owner, rolf was the epitomy of the perfect host. Its a perfect place for a quiet getaway.

Stunning area, we even had rainbows appear! The owner was amazing, the hospitality superb and the room was lovely. It was appreciated that you could get an evening meal if you wanted as it is a fairly remote area. We did a long hike in the country, so beautiful.

No taxi service in the area.

I had a wonderful stay at the Stella Maris Shore House and wish I had been able to stay longer. It is right on the shore with direct views of the ocean. You can even see the Sea Stack in the distance. The room was very comfortable and I enjoyed a long bath and a long sleep with the sound of the ocean. Breakfast was delicious. They offered a dinner option and it was tasty. The people were so nice. I got a tour of the location and help with my luggage to and from the room. It's such a quiet location. Easy to park by the door. Not too far (a drive) from the town if you need it.

I think the room could use a better pillow on the bed. But I slept comfortably.

The B&B was a delight from the start to finish. The owner was incredibly attentive and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The building itself is full of character and the stories behind it from made the stay memorable a perfect blend of history, comfort and a heartfelt hospitality. Highly highly recommend !

A lovely quiet place to stay near the Ceide Fields. The food was delicious, we stayed for dinner. Service was also excellent.

Shower water temperature did not get hot and not much water pressure.

We absolutely loved our stay at Stella Maris Shore House. Every room offers stunning ocean views - so close you can hear the waves day and night. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, especially enjoyed in the glass-covered patio, which makes even stormy days feel cosy and special.But the real magic here is the people. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, with locals and travellers alike enjoying this little place of paradise. And then there’s Rolf - the owner and heart of the place - whose kindness, humour, and dedication make you feel less like a guest and more like an “old” friend. We’ll be back the first chance we get. Thank you, Rolf and team, for making our stay so special.

Beautiful location, stylish decor, exceptional service

Wonderful historic hotel on the coast with a view of Downpatrick Head. The hotel has very nice public areas and our large room was immaculately clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options. Rolf was very attentive and even offered to prepare an evening meal since options are limited in the area.

Rolf, the owner, very friendly and easy to talk to. Beautiful sunroom to have a drink and see the ocean view.

Rolf was very welcoming and helpful. The Stella Maris is situated beautifully on the coast-views are spectacular.Only breakfast and tea are served but we found a great restaurant in Kilala. Ballycastle is convenient to Achill Island and other day-trip locations. Such a relaxing place to stay.

I.really can't think of anything except, with our bathroom being small, more shelving for toiletries would have been nice.

Everything was just perfect! The room was immaculate, comfortable bed and a superb bathroom with a bath. The breakfast was delicious, the staff were super, very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was so relaxing, it was a real get away from the busyness of life, the wine choice was excellent and Ralf was the perfect host!

The location is beautiful as is the house and its furnishings. The hospitality was wonderful. Food was lovely.

Nice big room with comfortable bed and view over the bay.

Disappointing breakfast. Could have been OK but longlife juice and very small portions and cold porridge. Like they knew what they were doing - good at cooking but a bit driven by keeping the cost down. Given the price they could have been a little more generous.

Amazing views from the conservatory. Rolf and the team were very attentive and friendly. The facilities were great and the optional platter we were offered when we arrived fitted the bill as a light evening meal. We would definitely stay here again and recommend Stella Maris to our friends.

The breakfast was first rate, made to order and as they like to say in Ireland "prefect". Rolf had some marmalades on the table and I commented about how good they were. He explained how they came from Annie's Bakery in town and how he procures as much as he can from local supplies and farmers. We stopped at Annie's on our way out of town and purchased three jars of marmalade as well as some yummy pastries. Annie was a lovely lady who was welcoming and a joy to chat with. This is what I loved most about out experiences, meeting people and contributing to their local economy. Upon check-in I had a very unusual request, an 'above and beyond' request and Rolf didn't skip a beat in making sure my request was taken care of. Our room was clean, quite with a lovely window facing the bay. While my wife and I were reading in our room we could here cow's and sheep in the background, really tranquil and nice. This place is special and Rolf makes it extra special. My wife and I wished we had time to spend more days and if ever given the chance we will no doubt come back.
