    Pros +

    • The food was excellent, the accomodations were extremely comfortable both the bedding and climate, and I enjoyed the privacy afforded by the location and access to the guesthouse. The staff were friendly and helpful, the public area provided every conceivable convenience and down to the the view from the bedside window, every part of my stay was charming.
    • The pub/restaurant was only a few steps from the B&B. The menu was extensive, the food quality was excellent and the service was great!
    • Very clean rooms and reception area. Food in the restaurant was super and the staff were very helpful.

    Cons -

    • We had an early start on the Sunday morning and early breakfast would have been nice.
    • Though the bed was "comfortable", did not really have a good night's sleep. The shower and toilet and basin are one unit and there's no shower curtain so water is sprayed past the basin near the toilet - need to keep clothes and toilet paper fast away to prevent them getting wet. Neither are a deal breaker and would definitely start here again
    • Had to pay taxis in cash so just be aware you need to take some cash with you.

Breakfast was included and it's probably the nicest food we've had. The sausage & egg sandwich - delish!!!The shower shuts off every 30 seconds - you need to push the button again. I think I used less water in this shower than I've ever had! But it worked - fair dues to the person that designed it!

Loved this hotel. From the minute we arrived early from oour early flight the staff were friendly and helpful storing our bags whilst we went exploring the area. You can walk into Ballina (about a mile I reckon) which we did a few times but it is quite easy to get a taxi. The food was absolutely delicious, breakfast and evening meal (had the same curry twice as it was so good). We got a taxi to the Bessies Bar on the coast which was about a 30 minute drive. The room was warm, cosy and comfy. The owner, Joe, even drove us to the airport on our way home, great stay will defo be back.

Had to pay taxis in cash so just be aware you need to take some cash with you.

    Disappointing

The toilettes was equipped with open shower flooding all around, so we were forced to skip shower just to avoid flood the entire area. Not acceptable on these days.

The breakfast was lovely. I especially enjoyed the coffee and the brown bread. I liked the dinners too - the grilled salmon was outstanding; no surprise in the salmon capital of Ireland! Staff is wonderful here. When the owner heard that I was in Ballina because my great-great grandfather was from there, he asked for my surname and came back with a personal contact - a farmer he knew to the west with the same name. Thank you, Mr. Joe! I haven't called Brendan yet but I will.

The walls between rooms are thin and I could hear my neighbor (they weren't being loud, just talking normally), but American hotels are like that too so I can't complain. I loved the shower! Very clever set up.

    Clean, staff

Not knowing where to go to check in, had to ask around. Room was small, bed was uncomfortable. Neighbor was loud, not soundproof. Window was not fully covered in the bathroom. All the dishes were dirty when we wanted tea in the common area.

Everything. Top class rooms . Big communal area with sofas books tv games and dining room and kitchen to use . Lovely pub next door built by joe the owner . Excellent food and breakfast . Staff very polite and friendly.

    Nothing everything is perfect

Great food, lovely staff, clean room but the bathroom was lacking. Tap at sink either didn’t work or spurted water out all over the place and shower ran out of water really quickly (push system like a gym but could only push a few times). Was going to ask to change room but met other guests who experienced similar. Would go back for food but not to stay.

Location was good, if you have a car! The staff were very friendly. Manager was great, we arrived later than expected, but she was not phased at all, even with a busy service to run.

The room was OK. But, the shower room/toilet/wet-room was all in one. The shower only worked for short bursts, and then you had to wait for 10 minutes before it ran through another cycle. And as a 'wet room' having a toilet in there was impractical, e.g. the toilet rolls got wet, and if you needed the toilet after taking a shower you either had to wear shoes or go bare foot as the shower 'basin' was not deep enough to stop water splash.

Lovely staff and food, very accommodating and cozy common area of the BnB. Bright and clean.

The bed was very uncomfortable ? very worn mattress with lots of springs in the hips. Bit far from the bus station if you aren’t driving.

    10JaynePosted on: 3-12-2025

Very clean everything you needed was available. Food was excellent and staff were friendly

Shower you had to keep pressing a button to keep it on . Also bathroom was a wet room because it was small the floor was wet

T v in the communal kitchen was not working

Clean Lovely helpful staff Comfortable bed Had a fabulous evening meal in the Merry Monk definitely recommend and would definitely stay again

Clean room, comfy bed, pillows & towels, good wifi and TV, good lock on inside of bedroom door. Afternoon carvery good. Breakfast waitress friendly.

Isolated workman's bar, a mile outside Balina with no shops or other eateries nearby. Accommodation is in a separate building to the bar where you eat, with an unlocked outside door. Not secure on dark winter nights. On the Saturday night rowdy, drunk men were in kitchen but not staying in accomodation. 'Deep fried' breakfast not just 'fried'. No fridge in room. Busy bar with workmen in evening. Expect to have to travel by car to eat or book in advance. Like a backpackers, so expensive for what you get. Be ok for couples.

Nothing - breakfast was good and the girl serving was very nice

It's not a hotel. It's an air b n b so false advertising is at fault here. It's really expensive and is a kip. No where near ballina.

The staff and the food were excellent

The room was a little cold and took a while to heat up.
