    Pros +

    • We were located close to everything. The hotel had great amenities including breakfast, parking, and a hot tub. Our host,  was so kind and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!
    • Fantastic location - right next to the castle with wonderful views of the valley from the jacuzzi. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast had everything we could wish for (including boiled eggs and hot beverages).
    • Staff were lovely and helpful. Made reservations for us at a nearby restaurant and provided a good overview of the town. Good water pressure and the hot tube was enjoyed by some. Having two electrical outlets by my side of the bed was a great surprise. Wish more places had that.

    Cons -

    • The main issue we had was that AC didnt work well in our room. With peak August heat, we have barely slept. Another inconvenience is the shower head which cant be fixed to the wall. On jacuzzi, be mindful that the area could be seen by people passing by on the street.
    • The breakfast was plentiful but simple with the standard, non imaginative food options.
    • I got bedbugs bites here and it went on my clothes as I seen more showing around my body as I got moving to other cities.

Incredible view from our room of the valley below. Location perfect, right next to castle. Such kind, welcoming, helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. The room was a tight squeeze up steep steps so we only brought in a reduced version of our luggage. But it was worth it.

It’s located right in historic area, 3 mins from castle.Breakfast was nice. The reception was friendly and showed us the places to dine locally. She also explained a easy way out by following the walls

I got bedbugs bites here and it went on my clothes as I seen more showing around my body as I got moving to other cities.

Small, but comfortable and charming place with amazing sky view Jacuzzi!

    The location.

We had three issues while staying at the property the biggest was we did not receive the type of room we paid for. The others were minor I.e. no wifi. The host at the property seemed not to care or willing to handle the concerns. We did not receive reimbursement for the additional cost of the room we did not receive.

The location is spectacular, way up at the top of the city, a short walk from the castle. The views from the glassed in Jacuzzi were very expansive. If you are driving, the drive through the old town is quite an experience if you are American and not accustomed to streets that look one way being two way. There were plenty of pull outs though so we managed just fine. The breakfast was very nice, typical European breakfast with plenty of options. The restaurant was not open for dinner (low season) but there were other options in town. They did have a small snack bar across the street from the hotel that it looked like they might have run that was open for lunch.

The room was a little small but to be expected in this sort of location I think. The jacuzzi was not as hot as we would have liked, probably in the 90s (we were there on an intermittently rainy day in late October). This seems to be typical of other places in Portugal and Spain where we have gone to Jacuzzis though. It looked like you should be able to turn it up but that did not work (possibly our operator error). You sign up for a time to use the Jacuzzi and there was no difficulty with that.

Location was exceptional at the top of the hill and right near the castle.

Wish we’d had screens on the window to allow for some fresh air without the bugs.

Staff and location are definitly the high points. They were extremely kind and attentive

Given the location (small village on top of a hill) you can not expect grandious accomodations. That said, the access to the rooms is challenging (narrow and step steps) and the cafeteria is too small for the number of guests. Breakfast is rather simple but good quality except for the coffee which was dreadful

Sitting within the walls of the old fortifications and at the highest point in the area was stunning. It is a charming place to stay, filled with history and close to excellent local dining.

Nothing to suggest- it was exactly as advertised!

We were given a warm welcome by Julia, who also kindly made a dinner reservation for us. Our room was small, but comfortable. The building the hotel is in is 250 years. If you aren't capable of climbing uneven and steep stairs, look elsewhere. Breakfast was good. The best part is the location....steps away from the magnificent castle. We would recommend this hotel for those physically able to climb stairs.

Once the day trippers left, we felt almost as though we had this medieval mountaintop to ourselves. Quiet, unique location.

This is not a good choice for people with any type of mobility issues. Steep, ancient stone staircase required to reach your room.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. They upgraded our room because it was a special celebration. Location was close to the garden and castle.

Great location, clean and comfortable room. Breakfast was excellent! Highly recommend. (If you can’t climb the stairs, find another place).

    All was good.

Fantastic location in the old town steps away from the historical castle, old building with charm, quiet rooms, incredibly friendly staff, wonderful breakfast, terrace with excelent views

It's a compromise staying in a historical town where parking is not onsite (albeit very close) and no elevators (which wasn't an issue for me and anyways it's at most one floor up stairs)

Marvao is a repeat destination and the Dom Dinis Marvao is the perfect place to stay. Parking is available nearby, cafe close and sits on the wall of the village making perfect views from the deck. Room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great.

Location is epic, room was lovely and comfortable with jaw dropping views the hot tub and terrace was a great touch. Julia who handled check-in was a delight.

Being picky now, but the coffee wasn’t the best at breakfast.

Location, comfort of bed, bathroom, vistas.

Breakfast was marginal for a nice property like this. Espresso machine was marginally working and needed a staff member to get a single pod; no eggs; nothing warm other than milk. Front desk was rarely attended and when there clerk was fairly disengaged. I felt like they are relaxing on their excellent location and views and charm of the town and not desiring excellence.
