- Løkken. On paper, just another little Danish seaside town. But roll in on a summer afternoon, and it hits you different—wind off the North Sea, surfers dragging boards across sand that seems to run forever, and these elegant old holiday houses that whisper money and history. It’s the kind of place where Danish families have been coming for generations, and you feel like an interloper in the best way.Skip Hirtshals. Everybody goes there for the ferry to Kristiansand, but Hirtshals is a staging post, nothing more. Løkken, twenty minutes south, is the real move. And tucked just off the main square—five minutes’ walk, close enough for action but mercifully removed from the chaos—you find Hotel Vandred. This place is a find. Small. Boutique. Rooms that are clean, pared down, exactly what you need and nothing you don’t. Bathrooms that don’t make you feel like you’re camping. That Danish knack for design: minimal, practical, but warm enough you don’t feel like you’ve checked into a furniture showroom. The kitchen is where Vandred really sings. When I rolled in, the crew was deep in mise en place—shellfish, fresh fish, the kind of seafood that smells of the sea instead of a freezer truck. A wine list that actually shows some thought. Dinner here is the sort of thing that makes you want to linger: no gimmicks, just product, technique, and respect for the ingredients.Løkken itself can get crowded—holiday families, beachgoers, the whole scene—but that’s the beauty of Vandred. You park right at the hotel, walk your bags in, grab a shower, and in five minutes you’re in the thick of town with a drink in hand. Then back to quiet when you’ve had enough. It’s the balance that makes it work.Hotel Vandred isn’t trying to be the kind of place you brag about on Instagram. It doesn’t need to. It’s the place you actually want to stay: a haven, a kitchen worth the trip, and a front-row seat to a town that’s got more character than its ferry-port neighbor ever will.
- Perfect breakfast with the possibillity with egg and cereal wishes made on demand. Very tastfull breakfast room
- Beds incredibly confortable (or were we too tired? haha), loved the deco in the lobby, the halls, the room. Great shower with abundant and warm water. Few minutes away from the "downtown" area.
Cons -
- TV on the room did not offer Netflix
- It felt clean until I walked barefooted across the room. I had to wash my feet again. I asked for some extras and didn’t get any. But it was okay.
- The staff was not extremely warm and welcoming as we checked in after 6pm. They didn’t try to accommodate us for dinner, which does seem good but doesn’t offer a second service apparently, with no special treatment for hotel guests. We recommend to dine at Rarsted: also supposed to be fully booked but the owner welcomed guests as a second service - good fusion food, friendly service, offering to taste home made digestive.

Nice balcony. Great breakfast and excellent duvets and pillows, great location
The atmosphere, the hotel is cute in its way, a true boutique hotel. It’s a good hotel for people that don’t want much contact with people.
It felt clean until I walked barefooted across the room. I had to wash my feet again. I asked for some extras and didn’t get any. But it was okay.
It was a large family room, very comfortable. Good quality breakfast. Good location just minutes away from the beach and ´city’ center with choices of restaurants and boutiques. Løkken in a good place to stop by with a very nice beach, nearby the well-known dunes.

Amazing, small hotel in a very nice beach town. Very stylish, good breakfast and very friendly and helpful stuff. It was so nice that we decided to stay an extra night!Plus: We travelled with bikes and they helped us to put the bikes in a safe place
Nice hotel in good location.
Restaurant fully booked. The sink in the bathroom was very very small.
The place had very nice rooms and the breakfast was wonderful! Clean and near the beach in the lovely town of Løkken. We thoroughly enjoyed!
We thought they may do something special for our engagement but that wasn’t the case
Big room. Great shower. Free parking
No coffee making facilities in the room, only a machine in the corridor but no milk. Disappointing breakfast. Problems paying with my credit cards.
Breakfast was healthy and abundant. Location quiet and scenic.
We got a very spacious family room.Good central location within easy walki g distance.Breakfast was good.
Relaxed energy
No kettle in room. The door to my room was outside facing and a bolt on the door would have been great for ease of mind,
friendly staff, spacious room, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast near city centre
Great location. Tidy hotel. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast, but every day identical.
The bathroom was tiny.
Clean, quiet, and full of character
No coffee/tea in rooms
Good location, the room was pretty and very clean, good breakfast
Great location close to the beach. Excellent check in and helpful staff. Nicely furnished room with excellent bathroom.
Perhaps a little expensive
Big Room for the price, close to the water/cafés and a wonderfull hotel, with pretty interior. kept the school vibes, as it is an old school
that the bath and toilet wasn’t in the room
