    Pros +

    • We had a beautiful room, Junior Suite. The beds were comfortable, everything was tidy. The restaurant was also great and it is very welcoming that you can bring your dog!
    • The beauty of the building and the comfort of its rooms. Great parking lot.
    • It is an Inn inside a beautiful Monastery in the local wine country. It appears to be run by the Augustine order, so there will be a cross in your room. But there is nothing staid about the place. The rooms are ample and are done up in a modern style, with comfortable beds, large bathrooms and good wifi. There is a cafeteria that serves a local breakfast buffet (don't expect eggs and bacon, but croissants, bread and a variety of spreads along with local jamon, chorizo and cheese). We did not stay for lunch, but I did have an excellent swim in the immaculately clean pool, which is around 30 meters or so and opens at noon in August. You can take a beautiful walk around the monastery's gardens and vines. The hotel offers visits to its library and other local activities. It was wonderfully calming, and all the staff were helpful and friendly.

    Cons -

    • There was nothing not to like.
    • Heatwave and there was absolutely no air conditioning .Booked and paid for a suite for 2 nights but it was not available on arrival . Offered us to move next day but suite was even hotter than room we stayed in - unbearably hot .
    • It was perfect

The staff was thorough, friendly, accomodating and warm. From ownership/management, to the front desk, and the kitchen/cafe. Morning and night crews. We felt so special on our anniversary holiday.

    We had to leave!

This is a unique property in a stunning location. The original features and quality of the refurbishment are outstanding. Absolutely beautiful! Superb bed and shower. The room was of a very high standard. Staff very friendly. Also dogs welcome !

We loved our stay here. Things to note, during winter / low season the restaurant is shut in the evenings. We were travelling from southern Spain so chose this for its restaurant and that was a bit of an issue. Coupled with no facility to make a hot drink - think this would be a nice addition especially in winter months. Or maybe could the cafe offer cold options on arrival.

Beautiful building in a stunning location. Great room with extra large comfortable bed. Free parking on site. Loved ability to control the temperature in the room. Plenty of hanging space and bonus of a safe.

Would have liked tea/coffee making facilities either in the room or at a central point. On return from a meal I asked a member of staff if I could have coffees. At first I was told no, but she did then make two coffees, which I had to pay for. Not a lot but I prefer to take a hot drink when I’d like one. Breakfast is okay but not a lot of choice. No cheese. No hot options. Better quality products needed in the bathroom.

A lovely hotel in a beautiful and peaceful location. The room and bed were very big and comfortable. There are guided tours of the monastery which are good value and very interesting. They are very dog friendly with lots of lovely dog walking close by. The breakfast was excellent as was the lunch in the hotel restaurant.

We were very disappointed to be informed on our arrival that the restaurant would be closed in the evenings as the hotel wasn't very busy. We had chosen this hotel specifically because the listing in Bookings said that the restaurant was open and we would be able to sit with our dog. In the end we had to collect takeaway food from the bar over the road as they didn't allow dogs inside.

Immaculately clean and excellent beds and bed linen. The staff could not have been nicer, wonderful welcome and lots of helpful advice. It was lovely to meet the Friar at breakfast.

Small niggle was working the heating in the bathroom which was cold!

This occasion the breakfast whichis included in the price did not have a hot option, but the rest of the hotel was excellent

We have used this hotel sevreral times as it is ideally placed for a final night before catching the Santander ferry. It is a former monastery and seems to have been refurbished almost without thought to expense: outstanding facilities and spacious rooms and bathrooms: nothing but the best fittings and tasteful decor. If you have time, it is worth taking the guided tour of the monastery and church which is otherwise off limits. Breakfast good and setting lovely - very historical.

Beautiful building, generous room, very clean and nice.

The wifi wasn't working in the hotel the night we were there

It is such a beautiful place. We visited in late Autumn so it was very quiet. The rooms are so big and so comfortable. The food is really great too. The grounds and the Monastery are just beautiful ?

It was all fabulous ? ?

A great stop along the way, we walked around, visit the small little village and the beautiful landscape around the place. excellent breakfast, beautiful modern decoration , nice and welcoming staff and nice a great place to eat nearby.

    Location exceptional and staff brilliant.

The only negative was not being able to get dinner earlier. After a day of driving, a 20.30 restaurant opening was unfortunate and we had to eat elsewhere.

On our way back to our home in Southern Spain, a late ferry in Santander meant we needed an overnight stop with 2 dogs. Booking.com to the rescue, finding this gem at such a reasonable price. We were blown away by the luxurious spacious rooms and public areas. Clearly a lot of money has been spent on getting it to this standard and maintaining it. The staff were very friendly and made welcome our dogs, and even brought them some water in the restaurant/bar area. The location itself was very picturesque though as it was raining we didn't explore. Though it was late they prepared an evening meal for us (about 0930pm), and breakfast the following morning was really nice with plenty of choice. The dining area itself is spacious which allowed us to keep our over excited Tzih Zhus out of mischief though there were no other pets at the time!

Approaching this imposing historic building was a great start, the room was a bonus, having been VERY recently refurbished. The grounds were also impressive and worth a wander. The shared spaces were very grand and voluminous. Easy parking right outside the main entrance to the building.

There was a restaurant that was very grand and pleasant and the staff there were more than helpful but the food was a bit lacklustre, probably because the restaurant wasn't very busy in the evening.
