Medhufushi Island Resort

This is my 3rd visit to the Maldives but a 1st to Medhufushi. This is one of the better resorts. The island is big, full of life, with a large area for swimming in shallow crystal clear waters. The staff was quick to meet our needs, and very discreet and polite. Prices were good for the services offered. The food was excellent with wide variety of dishes, usually offering a pasta dish for the less adventurous. We tried everything and it was all great. The bar hosted different activities at night. We attended a traditional maldivian dance show which was very fun. A plus is that there is a village in a very near island so in case of medical emergencies, there is civilization within minutes, something i didn't have in other resorts. All in all I would recommend.

I have one issue with my stay, we'll, 1.5 issues. The main one is the plumbing in the villa. The room was very clean with daily room cleaning, but the plumbing was old and ill maintained, and our bathroom smelled horrible. We stayed at a water villa so I don't know if the same applies to beach villas. A sour note in an otherwise great experience. The half issue (which may be a plus to some people) is that there were no corals at sea. It was partly sand and partly seaweed. This meant there were many sandy areas for pleasant swimming, but it was also not interesting for snorkeling, very little to see underwater.

I enjoyed absolutely everything, truly. The goal of my vacation has been reached 100%. Amazing location, cozy island villa with fantastic view outside, warm and professional service (housekeeper Ali was exceptionally caring), enough privacy for the overwhelmed mind which needs to be recharched. I am very grateful to the team for everything.

The small details are very easy to forget under the general awesome impression.

Food & staff were excellent overall

Would be nice to have a broader variety of meals at the a la cart restaurant. Platters for in between snacking could be a nice addition to the menu.Snack bars would also be welcomed. Activities were also limited as the current could all be done than less than a week which are also very expensive.The island hopping experience was disappointing as the expectation was to see more of Maldives, go to a local market & to do shopping where gifts were more affordable.We were saddened that we could not give tips to the staff as we did not carry cash with us.An upgrade of rooms, furniture & facilities might be a good face lift of the island.

The food was varied and absolutely delicious.The beaches are beautiful and clean. The island itself is a beautiful place to relax. We were there for weeks and were not bored. The possibility of trips and sports activities helps a lot. I could spend another month there.Wonderful people, delicious food (a very large selection), daily activities, and evening shows filled our stay. I recommend and e-recommend. I am delighted with the island!

I asked several times to fix the light in the shower and by the bed. Unfortunately, it was not fixed. It did not bother me much so it was not a significant element

They have no boat , no Fish and too far from the airport Not a good place

We spent 4 days there, and there were two major negative points during our stay:Food poisoning due to the water served at the hotel on the second dayThe hotel was much too far from the airport (2.5 hours by boat), with only two shuttles per day. In our case, we had to book a hotel near the airport to catch the boat available the next day, and for the return, the hotel forced us to take the 6 a.m. shuttle for a flight at 4:30 p.m.

The food was varied and of a high standard.Staff were helpful. The outside spaces were kept very clean.

The extras that weren’t included in our all inclusive package, were very expensive.

The water villa was really an exceptional treat. It can feel a bit outdated in some aspects but it's part of the charm. I was on a half board package, so no buffet for lunch but breakfast and dinner were more than enough. Beware though, you have to go to all inclusive to have drinks other than water included (which makes sense and is totally normal, you get what you paid for and add on top if you want more).

It's part of a high level hospitality service but staff would knock on the door 3/4 times a day to ask if everything was okay. Equally while eating, the staff would come 3/4 times to ask if you wanted another drink or 'something other than water'. It's part of the game but it can feel irritating. Small inconvenience though, compared to the great stay.

The hotel itself was lovely. Relaxing and quiet. Very beautiful part of the world.

Insanely unprofessional and disgusting behaviour of the staff.My (now ex) boyfriend was meant to join me, and was unable to. As a result of him buying me a spa package the staff had his number. Having seen me having drinks with some friends I made out there one night, an unknown member of staff decided to abuse the fact the phone number was known and text my (ex) to say I was cheating on him. which I was not!I’ve complained about this but without ‘proof’ (ie the message sent) they will not do anything or even apologise. Funnily enough I’m not in contact with my ex partner after this .This was absolutely disgusting behaviour and I am stunned by the lack of care when I brought it up. I’m not asking for a free holiday but acknowledgment and an apology would have gone a long way.As they have not done this, I am now going to warn everyone I can not to trust this resort.

Speed boat ride to resort was a bit rough, but return was much better,I guess it depends in ocean mood lol but next time I would choose sea plane as transfer ?

Worst destination worst resort ever and it’s was nightmare happily ended

It’s old building full of insects Housekeeping doesn’t do their jobs properly They charge you for drinking water No proper customer care The value is too low compared with money spent It’s old stuff are too comfortable in the place and make them ignore customer requests and they are rude

The resort was nothing short of amazing. Everything was done for me, including booking transfers to the resort. I took both the sea boat and seaplane, and both were brilliant experiences! Don’t let the journey time of the speedboat put you off! The first night in the restaurant I chose a table and a drink of water, and for every meal after, the staff would have my table and drink ready the moment I walked in. All of the staff knew my name without me even telling them and treated me like family (even hugging me goodbye when I left)! It was nothing short of amazing and everything was just fantastic!

Through no fault of the hotel, there were a lot of ants in the bathroom (which was outdoors and amazing)!

Huge disappointment turned out the front desk prrsonnell - the service they offered was way below established standards, especially for this kind of resort; they demonstrated lack of attention, understanding and willingness to help resolve the issues we addressed. Their attitude and general approach to guests had little to do with the standards of hospitality industry and were simply unacceptable.

The staff were very professional and kind. The food was excellent and always contained a variety of options. The rooms were always kept clean and tidy. The diving centre was superb. Excellent and knowledgeable staff, incredibly kind, professional and supportive. The boat handlers and captain were great.

I found the accommodations to be a bit more basic and rustic than expected. Other than that, it was fine.

The food was amazing, the rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable although the hot water was a bit temperamental. The infinity pool was delightful but the deck chairs didn't always have mattresses. You could get plenty of towels but you had to find the right member of staff.The dive centre was amazing, staffed by lovely, experienced divers who worked hard to make sure everyone was safe and happy! Overall very happy though, we had a fabulous holiday.

Ok, so no mosquitoes but... we all kept getting bitten by something... maybe sandflies, although I really can't be sure. Had to use strong insect repellent all the time. Also (not their fault, obviously) they are very far (2 3/4 hours by speedboat) from Male airport. You can take seaplane but you have to factor in a great deal of extra cash. These are minor quibbles though!
