- We had an amazing stay at Kuramathi Maldives! The attention to detail, incredibly delicious food, and friendly staff made our days truly special. The island’s beauty, stunning beach, and excellent snorkeling made our experience unforgettable. We even needed to see the doctor during our stay, and we were offered free assistance along with access to medications that helped me recover. We will definitely return and highly recommend it to our friends!
- The whole place is pristine. The beaches are stunning. There is plenty to do and see literally all around the island, whether you want to snorkel for hours or just lounge and swim. The buffet is varied every time. I stayed for 3 nights and had different options for lunch and dinner each time. Some food options were just ok and others were delicious, but that's expected at a buffet. The water villa I stayed in was flawless! I will never forget waking up and looking out at the crystal clear water. The housekeeping team did a fabulous job keeping it flawless, with service both in the morning and evening. The live entertainment was also very good. The women and men singing and playing instruments were all great. In addition, everyone in the reception area was super hospitable. My ride to leave the island was delayed, and they offered me lunch (with drinks!) and checked up on me to make sure they were still coming, which is greatly appreciated. Although there are some things they can improve (as stated below), overall I would definitely go back.
- The staff! They all are just amazing! Good work on Hr)We booked FB, not All - and even that type of board was too much for us) so if you are not an alcohol drinker - it will be enough for you.
Cons -
- Transfer is overpriced
- Service seemed to vary in terms of wait staff and bartenders. Some were really friendly and accommodating, while you had to wait forever for others to notice you to bring you the bill or another drink. I'm not sure if it was because I was a solo traveler (because I saw other patrons receiving better service) or if it was just my luck. Also, I get it was the Christmas season, but I think the almost $200 "Christmas supplement" was a bit much considering what we received in return. There was a nice "cocktail party", but they hand you a menu immediately to try to get you to order drinks. There should at least be one drink included as part of the festivities (especially for those on AI) after they get that money from every single guest, or at least advertise that it's a supplemental fee to drink at this "cocktail party", so everyone knows what to expect. There were also light bites served, but considering how they shoved a drink menu in my hand, I didn't even bother to ask about the food. If and when I return, I will not be going during a holiday. That's obviously just my humble opinion, as I do not appreciate getting nickle and dimed, especially at places that look like they should be above that level.
- We booked water Villa without pool. 250. And in my opinion it’s not 100% worth the money you pay. There is dangerous snorkel from it because it stands in a very low to the ground and you can scratch your body with reef while going to the depth. Also I made several splinters on the feet on our terrace area - so it looks like it’s really need to be renovated…not sure it’s ok to pay 600 usd per night and pick out splinters off your feet…

Everyone was so friendly and everything was so clean. The pools were amazing. Food was abundant and delicious.Great snorkeling straight out from the thundi villas .
Overall Impressions. I try to be realistic and I fully understand that the main goal of any hotel is to make a profit. There is nothing wrong with that – the question is HOW it is done. Some hotels manage to do it in a discreet way: as a guest you primarily feel care and good service, and only later realise that you have spent quite a lot of money. With others, you constantly get the impression that they are charging you for absolutely everything. With Kuramathi, this feeling kept coming back. If the hotel objectively has a serious problem with its house reef, a logical goodwill gesture would be, for example, to offer a complimentary snorkelling trip for guests at least from time to time. I doubt this would become a major financial burden, but it would completely change how guests feel about the resort. Instead, proper snorkelling is only available at a significant additional cost. The same applies to smaller things: charging 15 USD for a group yoga class, in my view, looks petty. This is exactly the kind of activity that could create a feeling of generosity and added value, but in reality it only reinforces the impression that the resort is trying to monetise every possible point.+Water Villa. The island managed to slightly redeem itself at check-in. The process was very quick, with no queues or unnecessary fuss. The hotel also provided early check-in, which is especially nice after a long journey. We really liked the water villa itself: everything was clean, modern and tastefully decorated. The interior looks fresh, with no tired furniture or worn-out finishes and overall it’s simply a pleasant space to be in and to come back to.+Food. Overall, the food is quite good. For lunch and dinner there is a buffet with a decent variety: there was always meat, poultry, fish, cheese platters, fresh greens, fruits and genuinely tasty desserts. Fish in different sauces was almost always very well prepared – juicy and flavourful. Beef, on the other hand, was often tough.
-Arrival and Transfer. The trip to the island started with a speedboat – and that’s where the first unpleasant moment happened. On the day of arrival, the boat was moored at a pier without any roof, and just as we were walking to board, it started to rain. As a result, we and our luggage got wet even before departure. Inside the boat the air conditioning was extremely strong. Since we were already wet, it became really cold within a couple of minutes. No towels or blankets were offered, even though it was obvious that passengers were wet and freezing. In the end, after about an hour, we arrived at the island already thoroughly frozen.-House Reef and Snorkelling. The biggest disappointment was the house reef. In reality, it is basically dead: most corals are bleached or destroyed, there are almost no bright colours, and very little interesting marine life. If you are coming to the Maldives specifically for beautiful snorkelling “from the shore”, Kuramathi is definitely not the right place.-Condition of the roads and some of the buggy vehicles. There are a lot of potholes and bumps, and in some buggies the suspension seems to be in poor condition: during certain rides we were literally being bounced up and down on the seats. Instead of a relaxing transfer it felt more like a small amusement ride.-At check-out we settled our bill at the reception near the water villas, fully paying for all expenses beyond our package. However, already on the speedboat and five minutes before departure, a staff member from the main reception came on board and asked us to show proof of payment. Why it was not possible to simply contact the other reception and check this information internally is beyond me. For a guest who has just completed check-out and is sure everything is paid, this situation feels strange and unprofessional. It gives the impression that the hotel does not trust its guests, whereas it is clearly an issue of internal communication between departments
The property was very clean and well maintained. Staff members were friendly and polite. Loved how the ambiance in the various à la carte restaurants and bars offered a different feel and experience.
As expected, WiFi was unreliable and spotty.
It had many facilities and the family was not bored, especially the kids.
The food, being all inclusive was not great.
The room and the amazing staff!
I did like it, but the food wasn’t really a culinary experience. We’ve been staying in hotels with insanely good food lately, so this one felt just ok
The island is stunning, with crystal-clear turquoise water and lush greenery. The food at the restaurants was delicious, with plenty of variety each day. Snorkeling right from the villa was incredible — so much marine life!
There was one disappointment. They gave me an incorrect restaurant check to sign with a higher amount, and there were also two extra chocolate bars added from the minibar that I didn’t take. I recommend double-checking your bills before payment
Everything was very good and there is a variety of food everyday . Villa was very clean and staff were very friendly . Special Thanks to Yamen from room service
The island is large with lots of places to see. It’s nice to have a walk to the forest with both lagoon side and beach side. The sandbank is spectacular. The room is decent with the jacuzzi which we enjoy every day. There’s a dive center with professional dive master, Ibrahim. The equipment are well maintained and the staff are professional. Lots of dive sites within 5-10’ boat ride.
The room (water villa) is a bit outdated. The dive cost has service charge and tax on top of the price (why service charge when we paid for the service itself?) that added up another 28%. The boat ride could have easily done 2 dives as the sites are so close to the shore, rather than splitting into individual dives and charge it twice.
Everything was perfect, island is amazing and personal is very helpful. Menu in restaurants and bars is great.
Low internet in the first day of our stay, but then is was fixed
Ocean and the food.
Not enough to do. We like Jet skiing and they didnt have it available.
Vegetation on the island is stunning. Tropical forest. The fact that the island is big offers big variety of activities and long walks in pristine surroundings. If you don’t like walking there are buggies driving up and down the island all the time. Food is amazing. Every evening a different theme. Coral reef is very big and alive.
Communication via email before coming is slow and ineffective. Waiting 3 days to get a replay and asking several times the same thing to get the desired info. There is construction work in progress in two places. The noise is disturbing if you are staying near the site. This kind of info should be communicated with guests before their arrival.AC in water villas was too loud to keep it on while sleeping.
Most beautiful waters I've ever seen. Food was tasty, employees were friendly. Overall, we had a fantastic time.
Everything (food, staff, location, diving, room etc)
We had only 2 bottle of water per day in our room. We must pay if we needed more. Otherwise, everything was perfect
Comparatively decent value for money for a water villa. It’s otherwise a little bit old. Activities are naturally a bit expensive.
I cant find anything to complain. Every single step from airport pick up till departure were planned and considered by the Kuramathi's professional and caring staff. good quality ingredients and delicious fooda nice and clean roomperfect nature and sea life
My recent trip to Kuramathi was nothing short of extraordinary—an absolute paradise on earth! From the moment I arrived, I was in awe of the crystal-clear turquoise waters, powdery white sand, and the vibrant marine life just waiting to be explored. The island has an almost magical tranquility, where every sunset felt like a painting and every morning greeted me with the serene sound of waves gently lapping the shore. The resort was a true luxury experience. Our overwater bungalow offered breathtaking views of the endless horizon. The room was incredibly spacious, stylishly designed, and equipped with everything I could need for comfort. Every detail, from the luxurious bedding to the state-of-the-art amenities, made me feel relaxed. The activities were a dream come true! I spent my days snorkeling in the calm blue waters. The Maldives is a haven for underwater exploration, and I was able to see marine life that I had only seen in documentaries. The private beach dinners under the stars and the decadent spa treatments completed the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. What really stood out was the warmth and hospitality of the Maldivian people. From the welcoming smiles of the staff to the personalized service, I felt like I was treated like family throughout my entire stay. Whether it was the exquisite food or the seamless planning of excursions, everything exceeded my expectations.Leaving the Kuramathi was bittersweet—I was rejuvenated, but I didn’t want the magic to end. If you’re looking for an unforgettable escape to paradise, then Kuramathi is the place to go. I can’t wait to return and create more lifelong memories.
Beautiful island, villas are spacious and updated and located secluded, bed is comfortable, buffet has very good selection with teas and coffee included.Views are breathtaking, during house reef snorkeling can see variety of sea life, including black tip shark, turtles, stingrays. Staff are very welcoming and accommodating, can't wait to visit again
