    Pros +

    • The castle and the surrounding land was a perfect stop for our family. The rooms were comfortable, clean and full of light. The staff was very welcoming and helpful with acclimating to our new surroundings. The pool was refreshing and clean and kid friendly. We were able to fish the surrounding water ways and was the highlight of the trip for the kids. The property was well manicured and provided plenty of space for the kids to run around and play in nature. The breakfast was delicious of course with a classic French spread to please all walks of life including.
    • Beautiful elegant chateau. Good breakfast and delicious evening meal.
    • Good historical venue, but breakfast was poor value for money and choice for vegetarians. Putting scrambled eggs in same heat pot with meat is exceptionally bad practice as meat smells absorb into the egg, making it unacceptable for eating!

    Cons -

    • Breakfast was below expectation and not worth it.
    • Just one thing - the area outside our ground floor room was covered with debris from the roof making it difficult to not walk it into the room eventhough we had slippers to wear. I did ask the lady at reception if it could be swept away, but she was not receptive to my suggestion!!
    • The room smelt a bit musty and the toilet was separate from the bathroom (but still in the bedroom).

Excellent bedroom in the Longere. Good menu in the restaurant. Exceptional buffet breakfast. Plenty of areas to park our car. Lovely grounds.

Wonderful place. We spent a long weekend at The Domain with our two dogs. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The restaurant and it’s wines are a absolute must. On the parking are two charging points for your electric car.We we’re recommended to download a app “Balade an Bourgogne “ and this is fantastic because you get commentary while you’re walking through the vineyards and hills. The only downside was, our wonderful suite was in the dependance and the WiFi is not very good there. But that can be a positive factor to cut off from the world outside and enjoy your stay at the Domain de Saulon

The staff are lovely, really helpful

The room smelt a bit musty and the toilet was separate from the bathroom (but still in the bedroom).

    Charming staff,

Uncomfortable bed, zipped twin to form double which had clearly seen better days. Weird shower. Expensive breakfast.

Location, size of room, breakfast and common areas were all niceThe shampoo, cream and bath gel smelled really niceWe enjoyed exploring and jogging around the grounds of the chateauStaff were proper and allowed us to do a late check out

Some parts of room - no plugs anywhere near the bed. We had to go under the table at far end of the room to charge phone/laptop and there were not enough plugs. Crooked mirror (almost falling).Bathroom - cold, not enough heating. The window was exposed to the outside with no way to cover (we manually hung our clothes to get privacy. Toilet - cold floor without any rug or floor heatingDeux Rivières restaurant - hit or miss. My partner loved his trout appetizer and duck main. I couldn't finish my poached egg as the sauce was too vinegary and the lardons/pork was old and dry and tasteless (this was the most disappointing part). My 'gnocchi' main was more of a potato fondant and was burned.Staff in both hotel and resto - they were nice and gave us necesssary info but we thought it was a pity they didn't ask us how we were, how was our stay, how was the meal, etc...Perhaps a bit more personal touch would've made really made it feel like a 4-star hotel.

The Chateau de Saulon has everything one could want for a relaxing stopover. Stunning chateau, quiet and comfortable rooms, large grounds perfect for relaxing walks after a long drive. Plenty of choice at breakfast, restaurant serving excellent meals, professional service, and best of all dog friendly.

Hoping they will get round to installing handrails at the front entrance steps; getting up and down while carrying luggage can feel a bit precarious.

The comfortable ambiance. Nice size room comfortable bed. They have a nice restaurant adjacent to main building , will be nice in summer with outside tables.

    Elegant charming hotel, nice restaurant

Over priced food, 'a la carte' small portions. Not good for hungry people! Although the hotel had two EV chargers, there was no advance information about the availability. We were told that the EV chargers onsite were only for use by the hotel staff :-(

I had a quite wonderful stay at this lovely hotel, the staff were all so very nice, polite and extremely helpful. The dinner in the adjacent restaurant was superb. On a cold nite the room was so very nice and warm, a very comfortable bed with a a more than adequate space and amenities. Very much a pleasure to stay at this location, I wished I could stay longer in cozy reception just hanging out admiring the building decor.

Breakfast was superb and the public areas are lovely especially the breakfast room. Our bedrooms were on the top floor and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and it was very quiet.

However, being on the 3rd floor the windows are small on that level so we didn't really benefit from the views.

The hotel and the check-in were super smooth and very welcoming. The restaurant is perfect and has very nice service. The room was spacious. However, the drainage from the bathroom was not that great, and we had some smelly bathrooms we have put some air freshener to mask the smell.

    The restaurant and breakfast!

The Longiere Deluxe and suite rooms are very charming with nice big bathrooms, terraces overlooking a stream, and nature views (ask for the top floor). The restaurant is truly excellent. The dining and communal areas are super gorgeous and charming. The staff are very nice and friendly, which is not a given in France.

The castle rooms badly need renovation and the whole hotel needs a manager who can shine it up and notices details. The place isn't very clean (the maids don't mop and their vacuums are from the 1950s, so they don't have a carpet brush or do a good job).

    Lovely setting and history.Good breakfast.

Room was a little tired and plain. Looked worn and could do with freshing up. Was expecting a little more fancy.
