    Pros +

    • Very Dutch . Great location. Next to the bus station.
    • Very quiet. Great location.
    • Very comfortable stay, had all you need in the room.

    Cons -

    • Mattress was hollowed out.
    • The locked safe was hard to use.
    • I was with two children in top floor room, there was no place to leave a pram and car was parked in car park a 5 minute walk. This was difficult carrying two children and bags. No lift in property and stairs were very steep for children.

Location, the room overall, the breakfast, and the staff. A great environment. Staff at breakfast were super friendly and you could tell they enjoyed their guests.

    Location, room size

Curve stairs (no elevator) - no fun dragging the suitcases upstairs amd small windows on top floor (very little natural light)

    We didn’t stay upon inspection.

room in basement lacked light, caged window well, lacked emergency egress and was on a loud busy road not mentioned in description.

Quite areas even close to the bus station, besides the river where you can relax, drinking coffee. Rooms very clean, heated floors in the bathrooms, easy check in and out with its keyless code lock doors. They provided generous breakfast portions, and the staff was polite and helpful guiding us around the area. *****

Stairs are too sharp and difficult to bring luggage

Lovely landlady, very responsive, hard working and pleasant. The breakfast was the normal continental with little changes over the week but it was expected. I would use the hotel again if in the area. Nice large room with good shower and bath facilities.

Due to circumstances in the current world climate on the lack of available staff there was no staff in the hotel until the morning. Unavoidable but a shame. As I said it was sad that you were not met on arrival to welcome you, you had to use a door key safe to enter and the same with the room. Albeit understandable it was a little sad with no human contact. Once you became aware of the entry details and room combination it wasn't a problem. The hotel is nicely placed on a lock with three bridges but very close to an extremely busy and noisey road.

Abundant breakfast. Nice, stylish building, very well located. Stunning area.

Breakfast was fine and the server was helpful.

This is not a "hotel". We expected there to be a person to check us in and for us to ask questions. It was more like an AirBNB without anyone present on the premises. I did not want an airBNB but enjoy the advice of someone in a lobby or at least someone who is available on site. The room was awful - no window, just an opening to the sidewalk near the ceiling. I emailed several times and called twice to try to speak to someone about changing rooms - no response at all. Finally at breakfast, we talked to the server and the owner appeared. And by then, we had completely unpacked and did not want to move rooms. Also, the circular stairs down to the room would have been impossible for someone who is not a young fit person to get the suitcase up or down. And again, no one there to hep.

The hotel is situated in a very nice location, close to the centre of EDAM. Very nice and comfortable rooms. Served is local breakfast in sufficient quantity and great quality. Very helpful and nice staff.

    there was nothing negative

    5CeciliaPosted on: 5-3-2024

The location of the hotel is good, it is walking distance to downtown Edam and in spite of being across a busy road even though our room was facing the street it was quiet with the windows closed. The breakfast was good too, it is served at your table and included fresh orange juice, coffee or tea , a basket of assorted breads, butter, jam, hard boiled egg, and cheese and ham and a small platter of sliced fruit. So very complete and well served. I also liked the size and arrangement of our room, it was very pleasant.

Two things I didn´t like: the fact that this is a "self service" kind of a hotel. There is no lobby and nobody is there at any time of day or night. If you have any problem there is nobody there to talk to, only send a message by whatsupp and if you are lucky get an answer several hours later, next day or none at all. The instructions for check in were incorrect. The email gave us a code number plus a star to open the main door ( to enter the building) but the keypad did not have any button with a star in it. Nobody there to help you out, we finally were lucky to cross path with a couple who were coming out of the hotel and told us they had also had a hard time figuring out how to get in and showed us the right way. Once we were able to get into our room it was very warm inside, we tried to turn on the A/C but it wasn´t working so we had to sweat it out during the night. Next day we saw the housekeeping boy and explained our problem to him and he fumbled with the A/C and still it didn´t work. So we said call maintenance and do something about this. We also told him we would be leaving our room shortly and to please clean it. On our return the A/C was off and our room not done. We tried again turning the A/C on and Bingo! this time it worked, but Very slowly, our room was 35.4 degrees Celcius when we arrived. The TV wasn´t working either, but we didn´t care as had no time to watch TV. We stayed in room number 10 and had to climb some steep stairs ( and our suitcases) to get to our room.

Comfortable room and wonderful breakfast. The hotel is very conveniently situated near the bus station.
