- Such a gorgeous place to stay! It's like a castle and a tiny town. Outstanding staff, fantastic breakfast and cozy delicious restaurant for dinner.GPS took us up a narrow unpaved road but it wasn't far and we got there just fine. The main road is much easier.
- Loved the location, atop of the hill and in beautiful nature. The apartment was spacious and peaceful and the bed was comfortable. The staff was wonderful and friendly.
- Relais Il Canalicchio Country Resort & SPA in an incredible place at the end of the road. The drive was worth it. The hotel is super and the service was super. We had two rooms. Both big. One had a very special big bathroom few steps down. Both had execellent view.
Cons -
- The food at the restaurant was disappointing, like many reviews noted - this was probably the biggest problem with the property; as there aren't alternatives anywhere near. Improving the food would really give a boost to the place. (We are vegetarian). We had a bath (jacuzzi) in our room but when we turned the tap on, water was yellow, so we gave up on the idea of a hot tub (shower water was normal).
- There are small things still to be looked at and, the food definitely has room for improvement - after you constantly eating delicious food in Umbria, having dinner here is just…average.
- I wanted a room with a balcony but ours was tiny with no view and enclosed by mosquito netting. Not the open fresh air I was hoping for. But the bedroom and the bathroom felt luxurious. The hotel is remote and it is hard to drive to local restaurants. I think the hotel restaurant should offer more options - the menu is very limited and the food isn't exceptional. Fine if you are staying one night but frustrating if one is staying longer.

Location is very nice, friendly staff at the reception desk, not so friendly at the restaurant.
It definitely has potential - the location is great, the building is gorgeous.

This is a stunning historical hotel in the middle of the Umbrian countryside with stunning views of the surrounding hills. The area around the pool and the terrace makes the most of this beautiful vista with that unique blue light that Umbria is famous for. The breakfast was delicious and the staff very professional and attentive. A perfect place to recharge

Beautiful in every way, beds super comfortable and good quality linen. Pools were excellent
No toilets by the poolsRestaurant not open all day
The location is astonishing! After a hazardous mountain ride, you arrive at this amazing location on top of a hill with a view over the valley, accommodated by 2 swimming pools. We recommend the restaurant that was excellent and the service made by young people was surprisingly very professional. The bed was comfortable and direct access to the pool was very welcoming on such high temperatures.
The bathroom was not very clean, but it did not affect the quality of our stay.
Wonderful location.Peaceful.Beautiful surroundings.Great pool.Lovely staff.
We planned our wedding at the Relais il Canalicchio with close family and friends. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience, very clean rooms, good breakfast, good options at the restaurant, lovely 360 views.Francesca thoughtfully helped us plan our wedding taking care of all the requests we had and helping with menu, flowers, music. She was very nice to have a couple of videocalls with us prior to the wedding in order to meet and discuss all the details. She even helped us with flowers, music etc.The rooms were lovely, the terraces had a great view, the tower room was also nice, only we had a bit of bad luck as the night prior to the wedding there was a big thunderstorm that caused a minor flood in the tower room which led to an electrical power failure and caused a delay in the wedding schedule. The staff was very friendly, especially one of the waiters named Hamza who was really cool and tried to accommodate all our requests, despite his superior, a woman named Sandra, who did not want to serve us after midnight and was rude to us repeatedly, even though we did not make any disturbance.Would recommend booking a couple of days here for your special event or for a retreat get-away

Ordered a coke that never came, no WiFi at the room and not very clean the room
The view was impeccable, good breakfast.
The first night was barely ok, we got a small room with a scaffolding blocking our window, the huge plastic sheet covering the scaffolding was smashing on our window the whole night. We asked for changing the room but we were told that our room was the only one available that day since other rooms had not been cleaned, because there was a wedding a day before. It was in the evening when we checked in and it took them the whole day to clean out the worst room. The next day, we had to ask again before they changed our room. There were plastic cups in the pool area and the pool was not clean. It's a cute place but not up to the standard of a four star hotel, and definitely try to avoid if there is going to be a big event a day before.
Very characterful hotel in a quiet location although a bit remote. Dinner was good, also very good breakfast.
Our room was large with a nice view from the balcony but it was tired and could have done with redecorating. A lot of odd miss matched furniture.
Beautiful setting with wonderful views. Hotel was very charming with lovely swimming pools
Lack of attention to detail - pool area not cleaned daily, sloppy housekeeping. Staff poorly trained - for example didn't bother to help open door so we could get luggage into reception. No offer to help take cases to room. Some of us had no hot water for several days and no attempt to compensate in any way.
The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Gorgeous historical building , and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms (there was even a tv by the shower), and very clean, kind staff excellent service I would definitely back
Nothing i liked everything
It was a very nice stay.
On the last day, during breakfast, doors to terrace were closed. That was little bit disappointing, as the view from there is beautiful.
Beautiful property. Lovely views. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Spa treatments were good - you need to book ahead as it isn’t staffed - the therapists come in when booked.
Misrepresented facilities - no tennis courts, no bikes. Gym very old but okay for basic exercise. A little isolated - need to drive 20-30 minutes to access any other bars/restaurants. Part of its charm, I guess. While we were there there was a school summer music camp in residence which we had not been warned about. It was very noisy - partly ruined our stay. Became a running joke!I was overcharged 487 euro on one of the bills which I didn’t realise until we left. When contacted, the hotel acknowledged immediately but it took 2 months for the hotel to refund and many reminders.
The location is just incredible! Two nice swimming pools, lovely rooms, an old small village completely renewed. Nice breakfast - lots of cakes and sweets. The view on the Umbria’s landscape is magic.
The service at dinner was a little slow but they missed two people so it’s understandable.
The location was great if you are looking for out of the way. The view from the terrace is amazing & definitely a highlight. The room was immaculate & quiet. Plenty of parking. Two pools is also a bonus. Food in the restaurant was good.
There was a music summer camp during our whole stay which we hadn't been warned about. This became quite intrusive with out-of-tune piano all morning & guitar lessons beginning during breakfast on the terrace. Some members of my group were located very close & woken by bad music every morning. Tennis courts & bikes for rental as per the information were not available. Some staff were exceptional, others not very helpful.
