About

This family-run bed and breakfast hotel is located directly on the Moselle with a view of the Reichsburg castle. It is just a 10-minute walk along the Moselle promenade from the historic old town center of Cochem. Hotel Altes Winzerhaus offers modern nonsmoking rooms with a flat-screen TV, noiseless refrigerator, desk and safe. Almost all rooms have a balcony or terrace with a river or mountain view. The continental breakfast buffet with fully automatic coffee machine is served in the traditional winemaker's room with a covered terrace. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel there is a supermarket, a winery, several winegrowers and restaurants. Popular activities in the area include hiking, cycling, Nordic walking, boat tours and exploring the local vinexards. You can also visit Eltz Castle, (12 mi) or the famous Nürburgring (19 mi).

    Pros +

    • It’s cozy, very familiar and beautiful. We especially liked the grape details on the building. The staff was super friendly and made us feel very comfortable. There was also the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time.
    • This hotel is clean and well maintained. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The view from our room was beautiful.
    • Very helpful staff finding a taxi for us. The included breakfast was wonderful with many choices.

    Cons -

    • The only downside was that the mattress was too soft, which was a problem for my back problems.
    • Hotel policy did not permit bringing coffee back to the room nor was there a coffee machine available in the room. My wife enjoys coffee in the morning before she leaves the room.
    • Not a problem for the time we traveled but something to consider if you're vacationing on hot days, the rooms have no air conditioning.

Location was perfect, with a supermarket and a bus stop right beside it. Small refrigerator. Easy walking to restaurants and the center of Old Town Cochem. Great breakfast with varied options.

Not a problem for the time we traveled but something to consider if you're vacationing on hot days, the rooms have no air conditioning.

Breakfast was great, fresh, plentiful, nicely served. Staff was helpful.

Beautiful accommodations. Room and bathroom were clean with comfortable beds. The breakfast was fantastic. Best breakfast of the two weeks we spent in Europe. Host was friendly and helpful.

There is no elevator so if you have heavy suitcases navigating the stairs may be a problem.

    10CindiPosted on: 10-11-2024

This property was really clean, small, yet comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic.

It was about a 20 minute walk from old town, to consider if you have heavy luggage

    8IvoPosted on: 10-8-2024

    good breakfast - ok beds

no elevator - so heavy luggage to 1 or 2 floors not easy

maybe the best hotel I've ever been to and I travel quite a bit. great staff, comfortable beds, beautiful understated decor, fantastic shower pressure, the best breakfast spread I've ever had at a hotel and gummy bears on your pillow. I wouldn't change a thing and I might plan another trip back just to stay here again. 5 star resorts could learn from the Altes Winzerhaus

Good location great staff fab breakfast and easy parking for motorbikes

This is simply an excellent hotel. It’s a short walk from the centre of town. The room was impeccably clean with very modern features. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was exceptional with plenty of choice- probably the best we’ve seen in a hotel in Germany.I would without question stay here again if I were to return. To Cochem.

Altes Winzerhaus is a wonderful place to stay, staff was friendly, breakfast was a great bargin.

Great location, offered parking for a small fee, bus stop just out the door into city. The staff was extremely helpful! Will recommend hotel to others

Staff- fantastic.Hotel- spotless.Breakfast- incredible.Location - pretty decent, slight flat walk to town.Bed- comfortable Overall a really good hotel, liked it a lot.

Didn't like I had to pay 7 Euros to park at hotel but is what it is. Also there is no air con but fan provided. Must say room was really warm. Wouldn't put me off staying again though.

It's a very beautiful hotel in the heart of Cochem, near the Moselle river, within walking distance to all sights. Very friendly, helpful and awesome people work at hotel, it was a very warm welcome, like at home.Room was clean and bright, and the breakfast was delicious. Wanna say thank you for all.

    9StuartPosted on: 8-13-2024

Spotlessly clean.Modern amenities.Very helpful and friendly staff.River-facing balcony, with fantastic views of Cochem.Perfect location, being a 5 minute walk along the river from the town centre.Very good breakfast on the river-facing terrace.

Nothing. Would, and probably will, happily return. The only reason I didn't give 10/10 was because there's no elevator. Apart from that, everything was super.

    10KrisPosted on: 8-8-2024

The hotel is clean with comfortable bed, very friendly, helpful and approachable staff. The breakfast was superb and the location was closeby to the center. I will really comeback here again.

I felt sad when we leave the hotel. ?

    8RosePosted on: 8-4-2024

Pretty location. Very clean, good breakfast. Good shower.

Not having a clothes iron available, even in a central room somewhere in the hotel.

    9TimoPosted on: 7-26-2024

Very friendly host, super cute hotel close to the city center. With (paid) parking spots per hotel room available. Decent breakfast that you can eat on the terrace outside with a beautiful view of the river.

Not really a complaint but the shower and bathroom were very small. There’s also no airco, for which they do warn you ahead of time, but there was a powerful fan in the room.
