    Pros +

    • Cute courtyard and location in the mountains & National park. Parking available, good wifi, and stafff were nice enough for midnight. If you are looking to spend time in the park this is probably a good place, just a bit out of the way.
    • The food and drinks were good. The view from the parador was very beautiful as it is high up in the mountains. The staff was friendly and attentive. I was told about a beautiful walking path about 15 minutes drive away called Puente de las Herrerías which ran beside a pretty river. The staff member also gave me a map so I could more easily find the spot.
    • Breakfast was good

    Cons -

    • There wasn't any air-con in the rooms, and we ended up with a double bed not queen.
    • Our room (number three) was nothing special and didn't have a view of anything despite it being in the mountains. There was no other place to drive or walk nearby for food or drinks so we ate two days worth of meals on site (six meals) but didn't really want to do that. It was just too far to drive to go somewhere else, especially given the narrow and twisting mountain roads. I would recommend only a one night stay there for this reason.
    • The coffee machines are difficult to use and often misfunction and this is the only way of having decaffeinated coffee. We always ordered hot water and sometimes had to use the coffee we brought with us. This is the same in all Paradors

    Location!

The food was mediocre. The shower drain malfunctioned.

    8AlanPosted on: 10-21-2024

Quiet location in the mountains. Interesting building, good parking, a restaurant (that was open!), bar and bar food at reasonable price.

Disappointing that the pool was closed in Sept. We were told it was too cold, guess that could have been for us to decide !I don't think a hotel should have facilities listed that are only available for some of the time without stating so.

It is a quiet, isolated place. The surroundings are beautiful. The swimming pool is superb. There is a good playground for small children. The place offers the basic services of a Parador.

The staff barely spoke English. It was unable to give serious information about hike and cultural opportunities. The provided map was very basic, unclear, and showed only very short, rather uninteresting walks, although more interesting alternatives abound, including some interesting historical buildings. It looks like as if the Parador's priority is to minimize its responsibility in case of an always possible accident. In late September, my room was rather hot. In summer, the lack of air conditioning may be a real problem. The room had an awkward shape, long and narrow with a tiny window at the far end, and was definitively not cosy. The food is disappointing. The cafeteria is unpleasant and unattractive, The whole place lacks the cosiness one expects from a mountain resort.

Very, very disappointed overall, but the location can not be beaten opening a window to see deer outside along with other wildlife was brilliant. The road up is scenic and the building is classic.

I paid a lot of money and expected a very high standard, particulary as thats what they offered. The air con room was to hot all the time despite what their computer and I said, though quaint it wasnt very comfortable. The shutters/windows where a nightmare to open, the front desk solution to my saying it was to hot.The food was very poor both breakfast and dinner (considering the price, very much so),I stayed at places much cheaper that were more comfortable and had far better food. The service was very poor, unfriendly,no eye contact even when I was kept waiting for over 30 minutes no one said "be with you in a minute",I have diabetes and was starting to shake.I wasnt the only one who waited at the restaurant door to be seated (as would befit such an establishment) to be ignored and not even told to come in let alone welcomed. In the end I dreaded going into the restaurant (if I hadnt prepaid I would have gone elsewhere, but they are very unflexible once you have paid),I found nothing on the menu I liked, even trying to choose something simple didnt work it just wasnt cooked well or tasty.I kept reflecting on the 2 small tapas and coffee that cost 2 or 3 euro I had on the way to Cazorla that was absolutey delightful, there is no comparison.Another reason I booked this place was so I could do my hydrotherapy exercises in the pool for my damaged legs and rebuild my strength to carry on my road trip. The day I arrived they closed the pool so that was another negative,it was still very, very warm during the day.If coming this way then one night on the way through and eat elsewhere would be my reccomendation.I say that only because the location is spectacular, though I seemed to be the only one appreciateing the wildlife.

Amazing location, nestled in the mountains

The drive up was not for the faint hearted

    10KitchPosted on: 9-30-2024

We loved the remote location. We came 7 & 19 years ago.The wild boar were just behind the hotel. Now they’ve gone butif you’re lucky you can see them in the woods on the hill. Deer& mountain goats too but they come down by the hotel.

Same old thing with Paradors. 23 degrees & the pools close midSeptember!!

Amazing location, up in the mountains near the picturesque town of Cazorla, in a lodge we were told, was originally built for, but never used by, the former ruler of Spain, General Francisco Franco. Fabulous views, comfortable rooms, as well as nice restaurant and bar menu options. Breakfast buffet choices were varied and abundant.

Not a problem, but be aware the road up from Cazorla is very winding and the drive from the town to the Parador takes about 45 minutes to cover around 16kms.

Great location as long as you are prepared for the drive to Cazorla itself. Perfect for the national park.Beautiful gardens and pool to relax in. Especially liked the wooded avenue down to the pool. The staff were very helpful with our late night arrivals, and even recommended groups to see at the Cazorla blues festival.Very quiet at night and in general.

Twice the cleaning staff ignored the "do not disturb sign"The restaurant food: my wife loved the ajo blanco, but I was dissappointe as there were scant vegetables e.g served with my venison with vegetables and tabouleh.

    9TessaPosted on: 7-5-2024

Beautiful location, lovely grounds, comfy lounge areas and quality dining experience.

Pillows were a bit uncomfortable but there were additional pillows for support/lounging on bed provided.

    8MarkPosted on: 7-5-2024

Typical Paradores one gets what you expect. Staff are outstanding.

A little remote and the drive up is quite scary, a narrow road on a cliff edge can test anyone’s nerves

    9ElainePosted on: 6-24-2024

Location, the way the hotel is set in the grounds and it felt like a country house rather than a hotel.

Bathroom was a little dated but a minor criticism and no pool service

    7AndrewPosted on: 5-24-2024

Location, the actual Parador, staff very friendly, breakfast was good

Lack of staff on occasions, bar area lacked atmosphere and really badly furnished. Restaurant good expensive for what it was, inconsistent quality. Staff very good

    9AndrewPosted on: 5-23-2024

Location stunning countryside and scenery. Perfect remote locationBreakfast exceptional.

    No lift to bedrooms.

Wonderful hotel with very friendly staff and a spectacular location for hiking. The meals were delicious and the gardens beautifully cared for. Caesar and Lydia were particularly helpful!

That the pool was closed for the season.

    8GordonPosted on: 11-25-2023

Nice old property in excellent condition in a pertinent location.

The dinner menu was restrictive and the leaks I ate were very ordinary. In fairness thjough my wife had fish both nights and thought it was reasonable.

    10SaraPosted on: 6-18-2023

Set in a beautiful location and with easy access to some walks from the Parador, it was the perfect place to relax. It was comfortable and simply decorated and the staff were great.
