Gladheimar Cottages

My husband and I love our stay at these cottage! It was fully equipped with everything we needed for dinner and a shower after a week of camping. We also were able to see the northern lights from our front porch!

There were no trash bags in the trash can, we had some so it was fine but others may not be camping and equipped when they arrive.

Very nice location, room was nice. Fairly quiet even so close to the Ring Road.

Room could have used a chair and a place to store the luggage. It also needs hanger for your clothes and the towels in the bathroom,Very little interaction with the staff and the exchange of messages before arrival could improve a lot.

Location was right off the Ring Road

Kitchen poorly equipped, dead bugs on shelves and counter, only 1 shower house for whole campground no close by and not very clean, scant windows coverings

Nice view and peaceful place, house is clean and in good condition.

We arrived and checked in room is filthy, wet towels from previous guests on floor old bed linen, trash still in bin, disgusting disgrace, shower water stinks of s***

The location and the hot spring bath top on the deck. It is across the street from the famous church. The restaurant B & S next to the church serves tasty food with reasonable price.

The noise inside the house. The boards separating the rooms is too thin. Every activity in house everyone can hear.

Nothing to like here

The owners said our cottage “had issues” and kicked someone out of another cottage IN FRONT OF OUR EYES and gave us the room without cleaning. The cottage was NOT what we booked, and had no hot tub or a lot of the other amenities we needed. Owner tried giving 100 isk (not even $1) and was being very defensive. When we brought the issue up to Booking.com on getting an uncleaned cottage different from what we paid for, the owner was not respondent and therefore we are now caught in a limbo. Booking was largely unhelpful too.

Bathrooms were clean. Beds were comfortable.

The check-in process is not convenient. We arrived at 7 pm and the doors to the reception building were locked and no staff members were present. There was a phone number posted to the door that we were supposed to call to check-in to our cottage. Unfortunately, I could not make the phone call from my phone (North America area code) and neither could two other families trying to check in (Taiwan area codes). We ultimately had to find another guest in the area who has a European area code and ask to borrow her phone, which was inconvenient to both us and the other guest. I would not recommend this location to international travelers in case they run into a similar situation. It was stressful, inconvenient, and not a great experience.

Stinky place.

I did not get what I booked. It appeared like they were trying to shove me into a single bedroom cottage that stunk so bad we could not stay there for 5 mins and had to leave. Additionally, the cottage did not look like it is shows up in nice pictures online. The cottage looked aged. The window shades were broken, the mattress of sofa was so old it had faded color with wrinkles. The beds did not look cleanly arranged to welcome guests. The bathroom had plumbing exposed at the back with all sorts of gauges showing up. The entire cottage was dark and creepy. The grass outside was over-grown. The entrance to cottage had a wooden pallet as a make shift stair. The staff appeared friendly, but could not assist us any further. We left and found an alternate place to stay. It was the stench of a dead animal or fish which was unbearable.

Looked like a brand new built cottage which was nice

Shower was overflowing, no mirror anywhere in the house, not in the bathroom. Bed linens didn’t seem completely clean, very expensive for what you get in my opinion.

Second time that have stayed here, great facilities, very helpful owner and comfortable accommodation.

It was an ideal, self contained chalet, clean, well equipped, and certainly met my expectations.

Although the chalet was warm and well heated, due to the flooring, it was cold to walk on, and so, a rug or carpeting would have been nice, but not a real issue

The tiny cabin was ok but it didn’t have a shower.

The place did not match the description on the website. We arrived a little after four and the office was closed. There was a number that we were supposed to call but it is not a WhatsApp number. I sent messages but no one responded.The kettle in the kitchen had water from a previous use. The website was not clear about cleaning or cleaning fees. If I had known about this, I wouldn’t have stayed there. We had to clean it ourselves. There were no instructions and no cleaning supplies. I asked for instructions but again no response. It made me wonder if they actually clean the toilets and sheets.

Location, spacious. Huge dining area. Not like the modern chalets. Local supermarket walkable. Second stay.

Street lights around may spoil aurora chasing.

Outstanding service and the cabins very comfortable and clean.. we will come again.

The location was good.

We didn't get the same type of rooms(smaller) as we booked. The staff was nice enough and gave us an extra room in another guesthouse because this property was full. But this issue was still annoying because it was late and took me quite a while to negotiate by cellphone.

Everything except toilet. We booked room with private bathroom.

Private Toilet. We booked private bathroom that allow us to take bath not private toilet.

Location, wooden construction, heater facility, kitchen facility -- all were excellent. I got a upgrade and it was superb pleasant efforts from the team. Thanks a lot.

Leaving.

Booking was not what we had made. As a couple we had booked a bathroom, double bed and a hotub. On arrival we were told that rhe booking was for two people twin bed with toilet only. Lots of drunks around the site, someone tried to get in to our shed at 11pm. The room was a glorified chicken coop. Seems to be a common experience with couples who do not book the larger multi occupancy cabins

Helpful polite Host. Spacoius and warm cottage. Hot Tub! Perfect location.
