Fantastic location with fabulous owners and a spotlessly clean well appointed studio!

Layout and easy access walking distance to all the things in Russell !! Facilities were fabulous with everything provided right down to the finer details like paper towels! So clean and easy with children. Felt like home away from home. Next to Four Square.

The cyclone ! We must come back in summer so we can really enjoy the outdoors.

Stayed in Room 8. Had a small view of the harbor from the balcony. The room was situated on the side facing a lawn and parking on the second floor. While we didn’t front the beach, we really liked the location of the room because we thought it had better privacy compared to others. Rooms were clean except for the musty smell of some pillows. I usually rate hotels better when they have outstanding service. So, to be fair, I am not rating this a 10. The front staff could have taken more time explaining what the facilities offered, at what hours (laundry was closed by the time we could use it), policies for requesting clean up or late check out; rather than relying on guests opening their book and reading these upon arrival. Seeing a difference in service compared to other hotels. But overall, enjoyed our stay. It was comfortable, reasonably tasteful, had a good location, had information as long as guests read their book.

Location could not be better. our room was 30 yards from beach, which we could see from our bed !!Room spotless, bed very comfortable, fantastic shower Russell is a superb little gem and the apartment / room could not have been better

Wonderful location and very pleasant outlood. Liked the little courtyard and chaiirs to sit outside.Excelllent spacious bathroom. Close to Long bay beach which is a beautiful morning beach.

Not so keen on the rubber mattress. Prefer a box spring mattress.

It was a waterfront property. My room was on the second level with clear sight of the beach and town. There were some stairs to get directly up to my room and these were easily accessible from my car. It was very well lit at night so easy to get around.

It was a little difficult to find where my room was. Though once I found it, it was no problem. I may have missed some directing signs

Really sweet - worth trying to get a sea facing room! Loads of shops and gorgeous restaurants close by.

The majority of the photos of the lodge show waterfront. I didn't know that the lodge is in 2 streets and one of the streets has no water views and is not even on the waterfront. I paid $550 a night thinking we would be staying right on the waterfront. There was nothing wrong with the apartment but it was absolutely bog standard and completely charmless and I have stayed in vastly better accommodation for half the price. I think the lodge that isn't waterfront should be priced differently and customers should be aware that they are booking motel style accommodation at luxury hotel prices. The photos are deceptive.

Location is excellent, right in the heart of Russell. Room has a kitchen, including coffee plunger, kettle, fridge and stove. Bed was too soft for my husband but just right for me. Upon check in, we were shown to an "accessible" room. When asked for a different one, we were sternly told "this is the only room left and exactly what you ordered". I showed the staff the confirmation which was for a "studio, courtyard". They explained that what I have and they also noted a bullet in the fine print that says "the entire unit is wheelchair accessible". I don't know why that was hidden in the description and when I asked, he said, "Hey, the only complaints we get are from Bookings.com customers". That tells me a lot - that the description is sneaky. When asked why he didn't get Bookings.com to be more transparent, I was told, "that's not our problem". Having said this, the room is not accessible as there is a big lip getting into the room and into the courtyard. So had we been in a wheelchair, it would have been difficult to get in and out. The bathroom was very bare and sterile with a metal plate for the shower. There was hardly any counter space in the bathroom for toiletries. There was no air conditioning, just a fan. The first night was unbearably uncomfortable, the second night was cooler outside so not as bad.We were told there is a parking spot outside for which we did not find one (they were all full). He seemed put out when we asked for a solution. He did allow us to park on the grass which was helpful but I'm not sure what else we were supposed to do?I've stayed in a lot of places in NZ (including ones found on Bookings.com) and have not had any issues other than this. That also tells me something. I think for the price, there are better places with friendlier staff.

Great location, beautiful room, comfy bed, stunning view. The owners were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. 30 second - 1 minute walk to bars, restaurants. We had an unforgettable time staying here and the only thing I would change is that I'd booked to stay for longer!

Location, cleanliness, spacious, quiet,lovely and welcoming staff, secure parking especially as we had e-bikes and were so happy to have them undercover and secure.Would highly recommend and go back.
