    Pros +

    • Price and staff. Breakfast was great too.
    • Pretty hotel lobby, nice breakfast, great workers.
    • Location was good for a wedding we had to attend

    Cons -

    • Shower was difficult to use without flooding the restroom. You could consider adopting courtains or a fixed glass. It's a bit tight and it was impossible to use the shower head, old and bad angle and height. I had to use the hand shower to avoid flooding the whole place. Also, I'd recommend place the room temperature controls in the bedroom. It's a bit odd to have to ask reception to adjust your room temperature in their computer. These issues weren't show stoppers for me and I'll still come back, but affected my comfort rates.
    • Room lock didn’t work properly and had to have maintenance come 2 times. Did not have good view.
    • Hotel is very dated with little to no facilities

The pool was the highlight of our stay! It had a lot of chairs, was nice temperature and you get big towels from the hotel. Note that the pool is closed between 1-3pm (open 9am-1pm and 3-7pm. The breakfast was great, with lots of options, huge buffet with breads, cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, cakes, pancakes, yoghurts and many sweet options. The hotel itself is slightly outdated but still very clean. We slept on the 12th floor and had an amazing view over Etna, especially during sunrise! There are around 15-20 parking places at the hotel, we always got a spot but there’s a big parking space down the road from the hotel so parking should not be an issue.

The big downside of the hotel is the location with regards to Caltagirone. We hoped it would be possible to get there with public transport but there are no options at all. Taxis cost 10eur per ride (one way) so might be an option if you’re with more people. We ended up always going by car which meant one person could not drink. We also had dinner twice in the part of the center close to the hotel, which was fine, but not as nice as Caltagirone:)

Good value hotel with great breakfast, parking and a swimming pool. The hotel organised a taxi for us to the top of the steps in Old Caltagirone (cost €15 for the 6 of us)

The hotel itself is slightly faded, but the rooms were large and comfortable with a very good sized private terrace

The panoramic view from our North facing room was exceptional - across the rolling hills and towards Caltagirone old town.

Parking was limited (probably 10 cars max?) - half was 'roped off' for tourist bus use, meaning that most evenings it was full and we had to squeeze in down around the side of hotel. The hotel is not within safe, easy walking distance of the old town - no pavements and approx 2km up & down.Breakfast was adequate but if you wanted anything hot NH charged extra - EU6 for each fried egg for instance!!The pool was closed between 1pm and 3.30pm ?? (with the sun largely gone by 4pm) - so really only useful for sunbathing in the morning!

Great view even if it meant we needed to take a shuttle to the old city. Room was big. Staff was very nice! We liked the pool was open for us and the bar was open. They were able to arrange a shuttle downtown and back which we loved.

Beds a little uncomfortable for us but not a deal breaker. Didn't like being so far away from the city center but we should have paid better attention when booking.

Breakfast was fine The staff in some locations were hard to get hold of like the barmanThere was a wildfire close and the communication wasn’t great I just got shouted to move in Italian from the pool area but didn’t have a clue what was being saidThe facility is great, the dinner buffet could be better but the rooms and hotel are nice and comfortable

Dinner buffetPool opening hours Poolside bar closed?

It was very clean, welcome muffins were lovely, bed was comfortable and shower was good.

Sadly this hotel is long past it's best, very tired, lack of maintenance and short on staff. The carpets were very worn, light bulbs not working and bar service very slow to painful levels. The WiFi was weak or non existant in much of the hotel apart from the main foyer area. The door to the balcony was sticky, and once open, tricky to shut. The breakfast buffet was the worst in my stay in Sicily... selection was poor, most of it cold with no way to keep things warm, and once it ran out, it ran out. They said they offered lunch but there was no information about it, menu's etc... and staff so short that I couldnt be bothered to hunt them down and drove to Lidl instead! The location is a half an hour walk to the town so didnt feel like it was actually in Caltagirone. There are a good number of seemingly wild dogs left outside the hotel that chase guests and bark a lot. So be careful. For the level of cost they charge and for what they offer, it doesnt balance. In all honesty, I think it was probably lovely in the past but I got a feeling that NH hotels has given up on this hotel and its on its way out... there was a strong feeling of this amongst other guests at the hotel.

    The receptionist.

The rooms, the breakfast, and the lack of maintenance. The air conditioning doesn’t work properly

Amazing location, only 20 minutes from the old historic town with local super markets; restaurants and other amenities even closer by. The room we had provided just the most perfect view of the old town and valley from our window. The Air Conditioning was up to date and work brilliantly. The staff always smile as you pass and we're always patient and happy to help my girlfriend and I who don't speak Italian. The pool is deep, cool, and perfect for relaxing beside.

the staff were excellent & guisy on reception was so kind to us & sorted out any problems & helped without a fuss. the 5th floor superior room had amazing views & bathroom very nice. overall good value

it’s very tired. swimming pool & area was quite dirty & unloved. I do understand the hotels suffered badly during covid but now they must refurbish where necessary to keep guests coming & be happy. the breakfast was ok but the bacon scrambled eggs were cold.

Clean, comfortable room with a balcony and fantastic view of the countryside. The staff was very polite and helpful. The pool looked inviting but the weather was cool so we did not try to swim. It was a very quiet atmosphere and hotel did not seem to be fully booked.

    Only the room was good

I went for breakfast at 8am and everything was missing. No cereals, no eggs, no plates…. Bad coffee. .. Exspensive hotel - bad service. Never again!!!

    View, location, parking

Room was dated and dirty, swimming pool was not open even tho it's one of the key facilities listed and was actually a deciding factor on booking this property, 4euro per person per night in taxes is pretty crazy considering Ragusa is .75cents . Staff didn't care about any issues mentioned and were more focused on getting us to take breakfast. Far cheaper Airbnb in the area , like I said we only choose this for the swimming pool ?

    10AlfredPosted on: 9-22-2022

Breakfast, room and view could not be better. Very well organized and staff very helpful, speaking also different languages. Also, the outdoor swimming pool was exceptionally clean and quite big as well. Very highly recommended.

The exit from the hotel to the main road was a bit difficult since there is no pavement. Just to be a little bit cautious!

Staff was excelent and very helpful, room clean and comfertable, very good breakfast.

Pool area needs some attention, need a car with this hotel.

The staff of this hotel is very kind and professional. We had some problems with our room, due to the doors was broken, the staff reacted fast and adequate. We have changed the room and received breakfast for free. The bed was big and very comfortable, localization and a view from balcony is fantastic.
