Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam

Modern hotel, tasteful decoration, bed and pillows were very comfortable. We had a great view from our room. We liked everything! When we arrived there were also small toys for our baby, small details that count a lot…Highly recommend staying at VdV Schiedam.

An incredible experience. The wellness centre on the top floor is really amazing, the food in the restaurant is world class, the staff were wonderful and the interior design and attention to detail is really beautiful.

The location is a little out of the way but the station shuttle and ability to hire bikes made up for it.

The room was big, like the tub in the room..

The beds, please do something about them, they move apart way to often.. every time we had to get up and push them back together….

Breakfast has got nice options and is clean.

Our room was not cleaned though housekeeping was around our floor for almost 4 hours. We came out several times to give hints and let them know they can clean but it never happened. We eventually decided to take a nap the went out but told the reception. We came back only to find fresh towels in front of our room instead. We raised a complain and they made excuses to cover themselves. Very disappointing .

Perfect option for a weekend getaway if you are traveling by car and want to explore the Hague or Delft. Breakfast was amazing - so much choice. Loved the design of the rooms, the shower was great and we had a bathtub in our room, balcony as well. The swimming pool and saunas were also great. Free parking on site with plenty of space.

Very smart and superb wellness facilities (but unlike neighbouring Germany swim-ware was mandatory in sauna). Great views from the wellness area in 16th floor. We had a room with a south facing balcony which was excellent for sunbathing.

The mirror at the sink is useless for shaving - it’s too far away. The square pillows were too small but to be fair other types of pillow were on offer I think. THE COST OF WATER IN THE RESTAURANT (ground floor) WAS SCANDALOUS- 6.50euro for a JAR OF WATER!!!!!! Yes 6.50 euros for about 4 glasses of TAP WATER. WHAT A RIP OFF. Hence we didn’t buy any other drinks. Food and breakfast very good.

Modern facilities, clean room, friendly staff.

There's moss on the balcony and you can see people on neigboring balconies and they can see in parts of your room, so it's not the best for privacy. If you're not a smoker the room with balcony isn't worth it.The location is definitely not walkable, there's not much nearby. You need a car, bike or similar to get around.Service at the hotel lobby bar is sometimes very slow and unreliable.

Easy, accessible, modern, great facilities, great food and vibe.

The mattresses could have been more comfortable. They are a little thin. The pool could have been a tad cleaner.

Nice property with spa

It's a bit remote from city center. Main restaurant is not great. Desk staff can be a bit lethargic.

Very limited number of hangers, no hangers for trousers. I could not locate electrical plugs at the desk and had to plug my computer to the bedside plug. Only one hook for bath towels, whereas the room is for 2 people. How can guests reuse towels if there is no place to hang them?

Good selection for breakfast, espeically the lovely mushrooms.

American-style bacon strips... much prefer proper bacon slices.

The room was nice and comfortable, the staff was nice and the dinner was excellent.

Unfortunately the sauna options were not available, they were not turned on when we wanted to use them at 9 o'clock in the morning

Out of the busy centre but easy to hop on a tram or metro into the city - around a 15 minute easy flat walk to the stops. We had lovely views from our spacious Superior King room on the 12th floor, and the soundproofing was great. The hotel was not noisy even though it was incredibly busy. The bathroom was stunning, with a huge freestanding bath under the window & his n hers showers in one cubicle. Staff were great & we enjoyed our stay.

The bed set up wasn't the best and not to our taste as it was too soft and unsupportive. We hate rubber waterproof sheets and memory foam toppers as they are hot and not breathable. Sheets are easy to remove, but with this bed there wasn't a mattress under the topper, just a leather effect soft sprung platform.The meal was delicious and the waitress was lovely, but getting the wine we ordered was a bit of a faff.

Nothing i got robbed by them

I was robbed by this hotel and I filed an official complaint with the police station. From the beginning of my arrival, I was not satisfied with the way they treated customers. The first day I went to buy perfumes and gifts and I had the bills. The second day I went out with my friend and we ran into the cleaning lady and she said, “I will clean.” Your room. We returned to the hotel and found our new things missing. We told the hotel manager. She said I checked the cameras and the door locks. No one entered your room and you put in a do not disturb card!! The next day, the manager said, “Yes, the cleaning lady entered your room and did not clean the room because it was not tidy, and she put it in the Do Not Disturb system!” We told her why you lied. She apologized for her three lies, but she insisted that they did not rob us and did not want to show the cameras, but I live in the Netherlands and I believe in the honest police and the honest judiciary that will take its course. The issue is not money but a principle. Moreover, they do not clean the rooms and They do not put towels, and if you call them, they make you look for 4 minutes and then they hang up the phone. The worst hotel I have stayed in in my life. I regret my life. Also, the hotel is far from everything. There is nothing next to you. You are forced to pay money for delivery services.

Room was fantastic

Issues with the hotel itself. Restaurant staff messed up with the order and made an issue of bringing what was meant to be brought, and on check out staff charged my card again for the hotel and when the money was refunded the next day it was short due to the conversion.

Modern and works well. Loved the on-site renewables!

The two twin beds it’s pretty uncomfortable to sleep as a couple on it.

Beautiful property. We had the chef's dinner on the 16th floor with great view, amazing service and very good food. The room was spacious, comfortable and luxurious. The pool and spa are very nice.

Most generous breakfast, fit for kings;spacious room with balcony; comfortable bed; helpful, kind and attentive hotel staff.

Add drawers to put clothes and personal items in.What do you do with wet towels? Nowhere to hang.
