- Chateau de Vignee was a perfect end to our magical two week holiday. It had all the modern conveniences and had been upgraded to a really high standard. The welcome was great. We booked the Michelin starred Arden and it didn’t disappoint. Marius Bosman took us on a journey round the world on our tastebuds. It was delicious, exquisite and so creative. Thank you.
Cons -
- •Rooms were poorly insulated, with a thin connecting door to the next room, making every noise audible.•Severe draft from the balcony door, which the hotel tried (unsuccessfully) to fix with a rubber stopper.•Overwhelming smoke from the hotel’s property, making sleep impossible.•Forced early departure due to unlivable conditions, yet the hotel still charged a cancellation fee.•Nowhere near 5-star quality, worse than any budget hotel. Our stay at Château de Vignée was an absolute disappointment, and I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quality experience. For a so-called 5-star hotel, the level of service and accommodations were shockingly poor—worse than any budget chain like Ibis, which we would strongly advise avoiding at any price.Room Disaster from the Start•Upon arrival, we were placed in a room that had a thin, interior connecting door to another guest’s room. It was so poorly insulated that we could hear every single noise, from conversations to sneezing. For a supposedly luxurious hotel, this was absolutely unacceptable.•After raising concerns, we were moved to a tiny, cramped room, far from what you would expect at this price point.•The balcony door had such a severe draft that cold air poured into the room all night. The hotel’s solution? A makeshift rubber stopper—which, of course, did nothing to help.Unlivable Conditions & Forced Early Departure•The worst part of our stay was the overwhelming smoke coming from the hotel’s property. It filled the air to the point that sleeping was nearly impossible. It was so bad that we had to leave after just one night, even though we had originally booked four.•When we brought this issue to the hotel’s attention, they refused to take responsibility and still charged us a cancellation fee—even though our early departure was entirely due to their failure to provide an adequate stay. This hotel is nowhere near 5-star quality.

We loved it all.
Incredible hotel which is a small sized chateau in a rural area of Belgium but also in good distance from attractions nearby. There are many historical locations nearby relating to ww2, Ardenne forest during battle of the Bulge. Hotel is set in beautiful green area right by the river. You can see the river from your room. Rooms are lovely, dark and modern most with terraces opening to green grass area where you can enjoy peace and quiet. There is a 3/5/8/13 km walks you can do nearby. The staff are extremely courteous and welcoming and thinking of all your needs. Needless to say the hotel is completely dog friendly and the dog is allowed everywhere other than the Michelin Star restaurant Ardenne and the spa. Spa has a lovely small indoor pool overlooking the garden and a steam room (good sized) and a lovely Sauna overlooking the river in privacy and calm.Well the highlight of the Chateau is the Michelin Star restaurant and the excellent service we received. The food was mind blowing and had a fusion of classic and adventurous attempts on flavours, from different regions and even countries and schools of culinary styles. One minute you were just about to think the chef made a safe choice in an excellent flavour, only to be pleasantly surprised by something so unusual that works so well. We genuinely felt like we experienced flavours never before and he brought skills from a pastry chef into a complicated fish dish, to bringing precision cooking skills into a relaxedness. Wine sommelier was excellent, he gave us a university degree on wine in a matter of minutes, while explaining the geography, seasons, aromas, colours to science behind it all. We did not know what hit us! Most people think of fine Michelin dining as a pretentious uncomfortable dining, where you leave half full. But this is not one of those! We were absolutely satisfied, taste buds were having a festival and heads were merrily wined.
Nice old chateau/farmhouse. Tastefully updated and decorated. The restaurant is terrific.
You have to go outside to get from your room to the spa. Not very comfortable outside of summer temperatures.
Loved everything : from the location and the facilities, to the very friendly staff and their behaviour. They were even flexible with the check out time.
Nothing!!
Spa
Food choice and price too highBreakfast price too high. Dinner set menus with no vegetarian option
Very nice rooms, the restaurant was nice
The restaurant need a little vibe like some music just the atmosphere to be more nicer than people talking
The building from outside
The rooms, are too small, the location: there is a constant terrible noice from the highways, as the property is situated just aside. The hotel is terribly overpriced.
Spent a wonderful weekend at the chateau. Wonderful location near the river and very beautiful nature. The decor style in the chateau is amazing, the smell in the lobby and bar is wonderful. Very beautiful interior and details, beautiful flowers in vases. We had a good time in the spa: swimming pool, hammam, sauna. I was especially impressed by the sauna: the view is amazing. Very cozy and nice place for quite weekend. We had dinner in restaurant (not Michelin) - food was very good and price is maybe a little higher than average. Staff is attentive and polite - very good!
Breakfast was a little disappointing. Too simple and not a big choice for such a high price. I think it could be better!
We stayed in the chateau for a few days. The staff was friendly and the property was lovely. Clean rooms and a nice view over some nature and a lake. The property has a spa area with a pool and two saunas which were surprisingly quiet and also very clean - a great place to relax. The property has its own parking area with enough space, as well as a restaurant, bistro, bar, terrace and lounge area.
Given that the property is close to some big roads, there is some background noise from cars when sitting outside. This is not a big issue, but slightly unfortunate in contrast with the beautiful nature. Also, the bar would be unmanned at quite an early time during the nights we stayed - around 10-11pm.
Chic looking interior, easy check in, comfortable room, pet friendly and feels private as there aren't that many rooms.
it is quite near the highway, you can hear a bit of it. if you aren't too particular, i think it's acceptable.
Service, friendly staff with us and the kids and food. Although understaffed, all the team worked hard to accommodate us. We never felt nor observed the shortcomings.
Proximity to the highway and highway noises. We could not sleep the windows open.
The hotel is in a renovated country hunting house. In a beatifull area near the river. A beautiful indoor pool with surounding windows you can see the nature all around.Room was lovely although small. Bed was large and very comfortable. Toiletary of caudalie excellent. The receptionist was very nice. Took us to the wine cellar ( loveley) he explained us about the history and the wines they have.
The proportions between the bed size ( large king) and the room size isnt good. The bed fills almost all the room space. In bathroom: the extra toilette paper holder is located in a wrong place. Just on the sitting area in the toilette. So you cant really sitt comfortably.Dinner in lounge restaurant was bad and expensive for what we got.The waitress didnt know a word in english . They have a michelin star restaurant and no one told us before that it is closed and not open during our stay.
beautiful location, rooms & gardenvery friendly staff
brasserie restaurant (value for money)
Fantastic welcome and service! we had every assistance from the concierge, for example with choosing our hiking route. Great attention to detail, from the water in the reception to the box of cookies in the room to wish us good night. Sauna was also great, with its view to the river, the pool small but serene and well maintained. The dinner at the restaurant is an experience of itself, fantastic culinary journey, compliments!
That's not really a criticism, more of a suggestion: given that there are some lovely biking routes just around the corner, perhaps a suggestion might be to have some rental bikes, we would have certainly used them.
We had a great stay at Chateau de Vignée. The room was spacy, very comfortable, and cosy. We had an amazing time at the restaurant of the Hotel, the food was incredible and the staff extremely polite and responsive. We will definitely go back!
We had breakfast in the little room in the back. It would have been great to have the curtains open to enjoy more light and the view on the beautiful garden. Also, the service was a bit light, not so much choice and mix-ups.
Nice accomodation with nice ambiente
- my vegetarian partner got served meat which was ultimately greeted with a non-apology, even gaslighted by claiming it was Tofu by one staff, a meat alternative by another staff, but it was clear that it was meat. Owning up to the mistake would have reinstalled our trust instead :/ even worse, her wish for replacement food was ignored and we got something entirely else :-O it wasn’t charged though, but that’s the minimum expectation to be honest. No effort was done to apologize for making a vegetarian eat meat by accident - 30 eur breakfast had no cheese anymore after we got a tiny plate where cheese touched meat.. this is not vegetarian, let alone vegan friendly. Despite that, which 30 pp breakfast has no cheese left after we got literally 2 small pieces of cheese initially- 30 eur cheese plate we ordered on a Sunday came with 12 fries-sizes pieces of standard cheese (no variety) and a small splash of jam.. c’mon … we did give feedback and got a generous addition of cheese, but why did we have to ask? This seemed really disappointing given the price of the venue and the cheese plate. We felt a bit ripped off at this point - Spa on Sunday had a lot of kids which is not a problem but most people come to rest and are hoping for a calm time
We loved the hotel, and we will come back, only not for the restaurantCosy "chalet feeling" roomNice pool and saunaLovely breakfastThe lounge room to have a drink, very cosy and warm
The 1* restaurant is really not worth it. Expensive, food was not tasty, way too special, quantity so-so. Definitely not a star worthy, sorry. Also, the area where the restaurant is, is absolutely not pleasant nor intimite. It's a large room with white, bright light. Temperature is cold. The hotel absolutely needs to work on this, in my opinion. Gives the whole experience one (or more) negative points. The bistro is only open from Sunday to Tuesday, so unfortunately you either need to find a restaurant externally or take the 1*. But if you'd like to eat a good filet pur with fries, you won't find it at the hotel on Wed-Saturday.
lovely building, picturesque setting, friendly staff, clean and modern
