Sure Hotel by Best Western Plaisir

Exceptionally welcoming and helpful reception on arrival, with the offer of help with our luggage and even a choice of flat or fizzy bottled water for the bedroom. This former Kyriad hotel had obviously had a recent refurbishment and was clean and bright, especially in the common parts. The en-suite bathroom actually had a bath and an excellent illuminated mirror above the basin, and there was a cupboard in the bedroom for hanging clothes etc.

There was no way of getting fresh air in the bedroom other than a fully opening door to the outside, which is unsafe for a room on the ground floor as there was no security latch. The bed was very uncomfortable and there was only enough space for one bedside table. The soap dispenser in the bath/shower was mounted too high on the wall to be reachable from the bath without standing up. Breakfast was poor and badly laid out, and although there were scrambled eggs, bacon and small chipolatas these had obviously been inadequately cooked in a microwave some time previously and were pale, flabby and tasteless. The service was lackadaisical and it took a while to get a supply of clean knives. Other establishments, including other Sure hotels, do it much better and it certainly wasn't worth £10 a head. By far the worst thing however was that the management had decided to turn off the illuminated sign for the hotel, and this idiotic decision meant that finding it on a cold, dark February evening after a long drive took an unnecessary amount of time. Don't bother with this hotel, there are other and better options in the area at a similar price level (and easier to find).

Internet did not work. Replacement Internet access worked in the room very slowly. I had to work in lobby every evening. Lobby is not comfortable at all. Heating in room did not work. Heating in bathroom switch off automatically after about 1 min of work. Handrails torn out of the wall in the toilet and broken railings on the stairs. Mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. Very dirty exhaust grille in the bathroom.A night porter is advertised, but in fact the entire hotel staff disappears around 11 p.m.Breakfast is not included in the room rate and is terrible in terms of food quality. The price/quality ratio of breakfast is a disaster. I had enough once. The rest of the days I preferred to just go to a cafe.The staff is completely incompetent and nods at each other, although as I mentioned, all the guys are very friendly. In short, of the claimed three stars of the hotel, at least two they stole somewhere.

Everything. I don't know how they got all the positive reviews. The location was creepy and there were noises all night long, plus some weird behaviour in the area (people screaming), a police car came in the morning and they ended up hauling a car away. Plus a huge spider in the bathroom

Staff were really helpful and great location for visiting the surrounding areas inc Versaille.

Could do with having a slip mat in the bath/shower.

Breakfast was very complete. The room is smaller than in the pictures. But there was space enough for us. The shower was very good with strong and warm water . Everything was renewed and functioning well. Staff were very kind. They waited for us for the breakfast and allowed us to have dinner in the breakfast area ... we ordered food since there is no restaurant in the hotel. The parking in front of Hotel made our lives very easy.

Could have an USB Plug in both sides of the bed. There is one only in one side of the bed. I think is better to go with a car, but this is because of the city itself that is very spread .. There were bus stop nearby but is easier with a car. The Eggs in the breakfast were not fresh, but they were fine.

It was nice to have direct access to the garden through the garden window/door.The staff was really helpful and friendly.The bathroom equipped with defogging mirror and lighting are great.

The room decoration could do with an update and the TV with more connectivity options such as casting from your phone or laptop.And plugs and bedside tables on both sides of the bed would have been convenient.And more pillows for sleeping confort.

We stayed at this hotel when it was a Kyriad, it was lovely to be back and the rooms have been refurbished. Lovely bathroom and comfortable bed. Kettle with tea and coffee was a nice touch
