Great facilities
They have an amazing breakfast buffet that you can prepay for and save a good amount. The exercise center is good, with multiple saunas and a small pool. They have what looks like a hot tub, but it's just cool water. Kind of disappointed in that one.

Top Tips
- Book hotels in Hoofddorp 6-8 weeks ahead of peak seasons (April-June, September-October) to secure rates 15-20% below last-minute prices. Median rates increase 30-40% within three weeks of arrival. Set calendar reminders to compare prices early, especially for major events.
- Explore hotel options in Hoofddorp for airport proximity and savings: median nightly rates are €85-€110 (approx. $92-$120 USD), or €40-€75 (approx. $43-$81 USD) less per night than similar hotels in Haarlem or Amsterdam, both under 15 minutes away by train. Filter for non-flex rooms for the lowest rates, and confirm travel times using NS Rail planners.
- Dutch hotel rates typically exclude the combined 12% tax (7.5% VAT + 4.5% city tax). Avoid budget surprises by manually adding this to your total or selecting 'all-inclusive pricing' filters on booking platforms, especially when booking through online travel agencies.
- Fewer than 30% of hotels in Hoofddorp offer fully step-free accessible rooms; only 28% of 3-4 star hotels meet Dutch CROLO standards. Contact your hotel before arrival to secure written confirmation of accessibility features, including roll-in showers or visual alarms if required.
- Use ING or Rabobank ATMs to avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fees of €3-€5 (approx. $3-$5 USD). Non-bank ATMs in the area often impose DCC with 4-7% markups, so always opt to be charged in euros and decline conversion if prompted.
- Hotels such as Ibis Styles and NH in Hoofddorp typically offer private in-room Wi-Fi with speeds of 80-120 Mbps, suitable for remote work. Budget hotels relying on shared networks average 15-30 Mbps and may experience 2-3 AM outages. Confirm 'private network per room' in advance if connectivity is critical.
- Schiphol-Hoofddorp trains are most crowded on Sundays 17:00-19:00, with load factors above 90% and typical delays of 18 minutes. Plan airport or hotel arrivals outside these hours for a higher chance of a seat and median delays under 8 minutes.
- Dutch tap water meets EU safety standards 99.8% of the time, but hotels usually sell only bottled water. Carry a refillable bottle and request tap water during breakfast to save €2-€4 (approx. $2-$4 USD) per person daily.
- Tipping is not expected for daily room cleaning in the Netherlands. For exceptional service or concierge-assisted transfers, a 5-10% tip is customary. Check hotel guidance on local tipping norms for more details.
- Look for hotels with the NL 'Duurzaam' sustainability label, for example, Ibis Hoofddorp, verified by third-party audits to use 20-30% less water and 25% less energy than non-certified properties.
- If traveling November-February, verify if your hotel has backup lighting or generators. Haarlemmermeer experiences power outages averaging under two hours during North Sea storms (affecting 7% of outages). Hotels such as NH Schiphol clearly list backup power and are suitable if you depend on medical devices.
- Airlines like KLM and Ryanair offer Rail & Fly bundles that include complimentary NS train tickets to Hoofddorp, a savings of €10-€14 (approx. $11-$15 USD) round-trip. Check the airline’s booking page for eligibility and inclusion details before purchase.
