About

This hotel is located in a wonderfully tranquil but convenient location, in a quiet side street in the center of Dinkelsbühl. Come and stay in this unique and beautiful timber-framed hotel. This listed building was a traditional barn, which was then renovated to become a picture-perfect hotel, preserving a natural sense of rural charm. After having been used as a retreat for artists since the end of the 19th century, the hotel now features its own art school in the restaurant section of the hotel. All rooms are equipped with back-friendly, reversible mattresses with a hard and a soft side.

    • Very accommodating. Super friendly staff. Comfy rooms. And a very well-behaved house cat named Molly will greet you at the door!
    • Excellent location and beautiful rooms. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

    Cons -

    • 4th floor walk up with heavy luggage and no assistance.
    • The 6 am church bells! Hahah
    • Parking is “outside the wall” but that is true for probably every hotel. Very short walk and FREE! It is a beautiful medieval walled city.

I liked the family staff, and I also liked their interest in providing a special breakfast upon request. The hotel's location is very convenient and located in the city center.

Despite the cleanliness of the room, the room lacks many improvements. The bed is uncomfortable and uncomfortably low from the ground. There is no refrigerator in the room, and there is no air conditioning. The curtain does not block the light...

Location, room, staff courtesy. Breakfast was outstanding. It's a joy to stay in such a friendly, family run place

Everything is amazing about this place. The family who runs the hotel is super friendly. Here Joachim made sure upon our arrival that we have everything we need for breakfast the next day (which btw. was delicious). The location is amazing, right next to the Town hall. The rooms are lovely, spacious and clean, keeping the air from the old building.

    Absolutely nothing, everything was perfect.

Right in the center of Dinelsbuhl and easy walk to everything you would want to see or explore. Breakfast was to order and very good. Room was comfy and clean. Staff/owners were available and helpful. Would certainly book again. Lodging was in a separate building from kitchen, dining and admin building but it was ten steps across an alley.

The is one car space to load and unload, but no parking. There is a free lot just outside the city walls, maybe ten min walk. There is a pay garage another five, ten minutes in the same direction. Wasn't too big a deal. If you want lodging in medieval center of town, don't expect parking.

Atmosphere, position, building, history, personal approach breakfast.

Wonderful location, room large bright and comfy

Breakfast room was a bit stuffy. A bit noisy from the streets early in the evening.

Breakfast porridge was really nice! I recommend this hotel: good location, nice clean rooms, big bathroom, enough place to store the luggages. Also internet speed was good. Owners are friendly and share many stories. Also, the hotel cat is great!

The room does get a bit hot in summer.

ligging midden in het mooie stadje

a bit outdated in the roomsYou need to chose your breakfast the day before. So exact amount of bread and extra’s.

The staff is very friendly, Parking places are available free of cost at a 5 min walking distance. Breakfast was very good and the hotel/house was very traditional it was around 400 years old.

There was some problem with booking at Booking.com and their system so they could not find our booking when we arrived. In the end, they gave us a smoker room although we had requested a smoker-free room in our online booking at booking.com.

It was central, and just so welcoming and cosy

Shower could have been slightly hotter but not a disappointment, still warm

This is a charming and quaint property set in the middle of a medieval town unspoilt by history. wonderfully staffed by delightful people we were really looked after. A great place to stop and refresh one’s batteries.

Very central to the town centre, a lovely traditional hotel run by a hardworking family

We were up in the eaves and it was incredibly hot. Even the Germans found the heatwave unbearable. There was only 1 fan. Dustballs in the wardrobe. Should stop using covid as an excuse for not returning ring to the breakfast buffet. Had to preorder whilst checking in with no explanation of portion size etc

Spacious room in a beautiful old building. Breakfast was good and the location is great. Bicycle storage garage was greatly appreciated.

Rustic, true to the area. Spacious, and very well appointed room.

beds for a 6’3” tall person were small.

The room was well equiped, clean and spacious. The B&B is well located right in the center of the village. We were greated by the owner with whom we had many conversations (in German and french). The lady who prepared breakfast in the morning was incredibly nice; everything was prepared for us and nicely put on the table, with our name on it. The owner, his wife and the staff helped us organize our activities (places to visit, where to go for a walk in the forest, etc). There is a lot to do in the village (just go walk around and admire the architecture, make sure to take a walk outside the wall). There are many other villages to visit in the romantic Strasse, Dinkelsbühl is conveniently located to explore them all, going North or South. Dinkelsbühl was our "coup de coeur", i.e. the place that we enjoyed the most during our three weeks vacation in Germany, thanks to the owner, his beautiful B&B and the staff.

There is nothing that we did not like. There is no parking, but that is normal considering that the hotel is in a small village. We had to park outside the village, 10 min walk from the hotel. Not a problem for us. Make sure you drop your luggage first and then go park. Parking is free and there was always available places.

I appreciated that the host asked us at check-in what we would like to eat for breakfast. That wastes much less food than a buffet. None of us left hungry, and everyone got what they wanted. The location can't be beat.

The location and the almost playhouse feel of the interiors are nice. Bath tub was a plus too (family room).

Most of all, modernize the beds. At least in our family room we had "classic" beds which had wooden frames designed for diminutive elves. The mattresses were very thin, meaning it was like sleeping on the floor. One of the worst nights ever. I mean, you do not require the water to be fetched from the village well nor do you have to use a bucket for a toilet. "Classic" where it makes sense. The hotel is not really a pro business geared at non-German travellers. There is a certain charm to it, but prices could also then be lower. When we arrived, there was a sign in German saying the reception will soon be back. After a while in 30C and the sun we figured out one could also call a number which answered in German. We do not really speak the language so throughout the visit it was us talking in English and them replying in German. Just be aware of this if you are not good at guessing based on other Germanic languages you know. After 5 mins the receptionist ran to the hotel in the heat from somewhere, looking ready to collapse. Would be better to have clear communication in English instead of "gleich". The guest does not want to feel guilty for the health of the personnel and it is not that serious. While we were also tired of travelling and the heat at that point,, we were immediately pushed a list of breakfast ingredients to tick.. no translations,.no explanations. Just wanting to get into our rooms already, and ticking off quickly, we of course made some errors, not bothering to GT. Please wait for that a moment and spend 5 mins having them translated. Of course provided a lesson in German food lexicon to us, for only 50€ or so.
