Pros +
- This was the second year that we spent a week at the Valentin Star. We like the hotel which is clean, elegant and well presented. The staff is always super friendly and attentive. This year, we had a different room which was on the ground floor. The room was very spacious, with a very comfy sofa. The bathroom was great. However, we liked much more the view on the harbour and being at the first floor than being in the garden. Another big difference we notice has to do with dinner (we had half board). Last year, during the week we spent at Valentin there were several "thematic dinners" (e.g. italian, asiatic, Spanish, etc) with typical dishes. This year it was pretty much always the same, although of good quality and with a lot of choice. We had a menorquine dinner, which we liked.... but that is all!
- We came here with our adult daughters ten years ago and it is still as good now as it was then.
- The staff were so friendly. The pool was gorgeous. There were activities throughout the day for the guests.
Cons -
- Nothing terrible, but as already said our experience from last year was overall better. One night, coming back in the room we found a gecko inside. Probably the cleaning ladies left the balcony open to get some air and it entered. The sprinklers were active every night, making it impossible to leave clothes and towels to dry outside. The room was almost never exposed at the sun. Drinks are not included for the half-board formula and they are not that cheap (2.8 euros for 75cl of water and 15 euros for 1l of sangria - which by the way was prepared with the fruit in syrup from the breakfast rather than with fresh one)
- Beautifully maintained, clean and tastefully decorated.
- Absolutely nothing

Absolutely nothing
It was nice to have breaky right by the port every morning
It could be a bit noisey at night but nothing too bad
- The room was big and spacious, with enough storage space for our belongings and a nice terrace.- The breakfast was buffet style, with great varitey of foods, fruits. pastries and juices. The orange juice was freshly squeezed. - Big swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds. You could easily find a sunbed at any hour, even during our stay in high season (mid-August). It was a great spot to relax and enjoy the sun.- Free little snacks and a glass of cava were offered every day at the pool- The staff was nice and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile- Great location, within walking distance to the beach and many restaurants in the area.
- the pillows were very big and uncomfortable. You could choose from three types, but none were comfortable.- the bathtub wasn’t cleaned for six days during our stay, even though the maid cleaned the room daily.- no amenities in the bathroom, only shower gel and shampoo. For a hotel at €380/night, I expected at least conditioner. There wasn’t even hand soap, but when I asked the maid, she provided some. - If you wanted fresh towels for the pool, you had to pay €1 each time you exchanged them. It’s not about the amount, but given the price we paid for the accommodation, this should have been included.- we had an early morning flight, so the hotel offered us a breakfast to go. They even asked for our preferences, and we chose fish-dairy. But when we opened the package at the airport, we were really disappointed. The sandwich was just two slices of bread with a thin slice of cheese - it felt like eating bread with bread. Given the large selection at the buffet, we couldn’t understand why they put so little effort into this. At least they included a banana and an apple, so we ended up eating the fruits.- Even though I mentioned several things I didn’t like, I rated the hotel 9/10 because these things things could be easily changed if the staff is open to feedback.
Breakfast was great, plenty of options. The bed and pillows were super confortable.
Very clean, huge room, lovely bed and bathroom, breakfast was fab, nice pool
Nothing specific. Prob location if anything, about 50 min taxi from airport
Breakfast, pool and room were great.
The staff was very nice and friendly, the breakfast buffet was above our expectations, and we loved the fact the hotel organised activities from volleyball to live music.
Lovely hotel! Pool was great and very big. Lots of sunbeds so no sunbed wars. Breakfast everyday was excellent and lots of different options were available. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was excellent short walk to restaurants, supermarket, harbour and beach.
No free water at reception which would have been nice.
The room was a big room, it would be better if you had a walk in shower. The decoration in the room was a bit datedThe breakfast was good with a wide variety of food. The pool area was excellent lots of sun beds and a large pool.
The seating at night time to watch the entertainment was very uncomfortable, it would be better with cushions on the back of the seats
Good except for the points above
stop discriminating against men by forcing men only to wear long trousers at the restaurant while letting women wear what they want, swimwear short shorts crop tops etcStop charging EUR5 to sit outside at restaurantsStop charging for getting clean pool towelsStop vaping
Entertainment was very good and the property was very clean.
We have stayed 5 times at this hotel and food much improved in last visit. However, with the exception of a few members of staff it is obvious they cannot get guests out of dining room hours before end of service. Tables are cleared very close to you during breakfast and set for next for dinner. If you go an hour earlier than end of service it is difficult to find a table which is still set for breakfast.Hotels really need a refurb. Beds are squeaky and old.
I loved the design of the hotel, the spacious room, the comfy bed The pool and the jacuzzi were lovely and everywhere it was so clean. Every single person of the staff was so kind and helpful. They recommended be the best ways to reach different calas and suggested the best tours. Great attention to customers' needs.
Nothing to be mentioned.
Amazing location next to beautiful harbourand short walk to stunning beach.
Could do with extractor fan in bathroom and shower screey leaked a bit. But fairly minor niggles.
The room, entertainment, food , waiters in the dining room
Atuide at the reception, pool attendants taking towels, off sunbeds due to not enough sunbeds vastly understaffed in all departments, waiters in the dinning room wasn't able to understand English including the manger. no hotel information in the room.
We stayed for 7 nights in august 2023 (13th-20th) .although we thought it would be crowded this season ..in valentin star was not crowded at all ,there were many people but you could find easy sunbeds around the pool.no issue at all.very important that NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE TOWELS TO ''RESERVE SUNBEDS'' ,made it even more easier to find free sunbeds anytime.BREAKFAST: big variety ,many choices ,fresh products ..with eurpean buffet and with chef to prepare eggs ,omelettes at request, and most important that BREAKFAST S IS SERVED 8-11 every day .DINNER: what to say about dinner ..stayed in many hotels but fisrt time have eaten MOST TASTY AND MOST FRESHLY MADE dinner ever.every night had different food theme ..mexican,spanish,chinese ,italian and of course all nights with most delicious paeyias ,fresh fish and sea food, beef ,pork etc. dinner EXCELLENT !!!!ROOMS: huge ,comfy bed but, comfy pillowa9have list to choose pillows if want) rooms furniture bit dated but still couch comfortablePERSONNEL :ALL eager to help and assist every time ,all staff speak English.NIGHT SHOW : interesting and different night event every night.TRANSPORT: can use menorca city buses (note :accept only cash)ROUTE: 1.airport to mahon (4euros/person 2.mahon to citadella (6euros/person , 3.citadella to Cala en Bosch (valentin star) 2euros/person OR USE COACH SERVICE THAT COLLECTS FROM AIRPORT AND TRANSFERS TO HOTEL AND VICE VERSA (with stops to others hotels around the area --17euro/personIn case you need late checkout can be offered with extra 40euros up to 16:00 o clock but you can also choose to leave luggage in reception and use the common bath near the pool to change.
not hotel's fault but if you stay in ground floor might hear noises from 1st floor guests, hotels rule for men to wear trousers at dinner.pool towels free but if you need to change them have to pay 1euro/towel safe 10euros
Excellent breakfast and location - walking distance to a beautiful beach, restaurants and bars. Friendly staff that shared recommendations and plenty of parking available nearby made this a fantastic base for us to explore Menorca from.
Excellent food Very kind Maitre d’hôtel and staff at the restaurant
- The surprising “long pants” dress code for males at dinner- The fact that this policy does not comply with the local (Spanish) law as it introduces a discrimination based on gender - The fact that the policy was not communicated to me during the booking process for a non refundable stay but only at the end of a later email that I have not fully read - The fact that I was not admitted the first evening at the restaurant and had to eat in my room - The impolite attitude of the management that did not responded to my message and did not show up to solve the issue- The fact that I had to buy a long pant to access restaurant for dinner (the polyester pants provided by the hotel being old-fashioned and quite ridiculous) - The bad faith of a receptionist who refused to acknowledge that she had given us a wrong meeting point for an excursion (which cost us a day of vacation) and the hotel's lack of will to find a solution to compensate
Super friendly and accommodating staff. The different options at breakfast and dinner time and the activities during the day provided by entertainment staff.
