Pros +
- This hotel is a short drive from Dublin, and perfectly situated near the highway for easy off/on for continuing your travels through Ireland. We had a lovely stay, a delicious dinner and fantastic cocktails. Super comfy bed and quiet!
- Great hotel close to our travels. Clean and comfortable hotel and room.
- The staff were nice
Cons -
- Carpet in hotel is showing age, needs replacement soon.
- The exhaust fans barely work causing severe condensation in the bathrooms making it very slippery, pretty dangerous. The cleanliness was not good, towels had hair on them and the shower accumulated water due to the drain being clogged.
- No refrigerator or microwave in room. No channels like CNN or FOX newd

Easy to findFriendly staffExcellent foodPerfect room and so comfortable with conveniences! Very clean& spacious
We were upgraded to a very large room. Beds were comfortable, room had a sitting area for two and a desk. Lots of closet space and a good sized bathroom. Three nightstands with outlets for electronics and a usb port at the desk. Breakfast was excellent with eggs cooked to order.
Wifi was horrific - would drop without warning, then wouldn’t reconnect. Moving locations around the room, into the hall and into public areas wasn’t much help. A known problem according to staff, but in this day and age, unacceptable in a hotel of this size. The next observation isn’t a complaint in that it didn’t impact our stay, but more of a commentary on the staff. We were asked at check in if we wanted to make dinner reservations. We hadn’t had lunch so wanted to eat early. When we showed up at the bar, we indicated the front desk had made us reservations but we weren’t sure whether it was for the bar or the restaurant. The waiter couldn’t find a reservation for either spot, but as it wasn’t busy, seated us easily. We ordered dinner in the bar, and only one meal came out. It was obvious the second meal dropped from the order, but there was no apology or explanation. We asked for the check at the table when we were finished and the waitress left and never returned. We went to the bar to pay and she looked at us and asked us what we wanted like she had never seen us before (we were one of maybe five tables at the time). The breakfast staff in the restaurant the next day were excellent, so it just could have been one of those days.
Helpful staff, Welcoming
Parking - Spaces are not always available. Breakfast - unlike most of the hotels around the world, no real buffet for the breakfast, guest has to order breakfast through the waiter , the breakfast itself was good and worth the value
Brill Stay in the Killeshin Hotel. My wife and I have been visiting the Portlaoise area at the same time for the past few years. Along with other friends (and another family member), we decided to try the Killeshin for a planned long weekend. Long story short, we have all already booked for the same time next year - such was out positive experience. We bagged a great rate (as we booked well in advance) and were collective thrilled with what that hotel has to offer. In a time when hotels in Ireland are receiving poor PR for price gouging (and then also falling short in value for money), we are delighted to have enjoyed industry leading levels of service and comfort....backed by a fair rake rate. Our experience was that the Killeshin are focused upon impressing you initially and then winning your repeat business. Kudos to all the team.
Only that we have to wait a year till we return.
It was an ice property with restaurants on site.
Felt outside of town
Good parking. Big room and bathroom Very friendly staff

Food and Dining Experience ReviewDuring our stay, both dinner and breakfast could have been significantly improved in terms of quality. For the children's dinner menu, we were disappointed. The soda bread served for the kids’ meal appeared to be leftover from breakfast — it was stale and unappetizing. The chicken nuggets looked more like frozen chicken balls you would buy in Lidl, rather than freshly prepared food you'd expect at a hotel restaurant. On a positive note, the soup and ice cream were both delicious and well-prepared.As for my own meal, I ordered the fish and chips. I received two very small, skinny fillets that were dry and overcooked. It made me question where they source their fish from — it resembled something from a supermarket's "3 for €10" deal, rather than fresh fish from a fishmonger.Seating was another issue. On both occasions, we were seated at very small tables, barely large enough for three people. Especially during breakfast, we were squeezed into a two-person table despite there being larger tables available (although reserved for a conference). It made for a cramped and uncomfortable experience, and the breakfast room felt loud and overcrowded. The breakfast buffet itself was underwhelming. There was a very limited selection of cold deli items, and as a cheese and ham lover, I found the offering poor. Some of the cheeses were dried out around the edges, suggesting they had been sitting out for a long time without being replenished. For arriving at 8:30 AM on a Sunday, I would have expected fresher food and better maintenance of the buffet.Overall, while the hotel’s location and decor were excellent, for the price paid, I expected a much higher level of comfort and food quality.
This hotel was fabulous, we got an upgrade, unexpected which was a real treat, the room was so beautiful and so clean, very comfortable, I didn’t want to leave!! Breakfast was gorgeous and the staff were so helpful and friendly, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back, thank you ?
Our stay was perfect, thank you
Hotel was nice and bedroom was comfortable. The bed was also very comfortable. We only had a short time to eat as we were playing in a bridge competition. I just got starters which I was assured was gluten free. They tasted delicious but when I was back playing cards I felt really sick. I only survived a short time playing when I had to run out to the bathroom where I was violently sick and had diarrhea. Clearly the food was not gluten free.
Getting gluttened when I was told the food was gluten free.
Lovely staff great food comfortable room maybe could do with updating
Bedroom comfortable but needs updating
Everything. Spotless, spacious, airy and each member of staff was nicer than the other . Just fantastic .Thanks all.
The reception staff were amazing, super friendly. The room was comfortable and well sized.Facilities were good.Breakfast was great, the staff at breakfast were brilliant.
The service at the bar restaurant wasn’t great.
Lovely staff. Lovely food. Pizza was new on menu with Easter package and fantasic. Clean hotel.
Pool area in need of little work ie some tiles missing, non slip surface in changing room starting to wear, but otherwise a pleasure to use.
The room was bigger than expected and very comfortable.
The only negative I have is the room was facing the main road which was very busy with traffic. The noise level was a bit high throughout the night but that's just me being fussy. It's a really lovely hotel.
Rooms are lovely
Pool was closed the evening we arrived it was out of the hands of the hotel but we had 2 disappointed pre teens who were bored as the movie offered wasn’t what they would enjoy
Good family room, comfortable beds. The pool itself is good for families. The reception staff are friendly.
No family changing facilities and no privacy in the changing area for the pool. Bar area is a restaurant, no area for sitting for drinks.
