    Pros +

    • Charming, old style hotel with delicious breakfast and charming hosts. Thoroughly recommend it.
    • Hotel is in a great location. Everything is in walking distance. The place is lovely and very charming. Hotel itself is old, but it's managed very well and with love. Breakfast was very good, and the coffee was great.
    • Great location to see colloseum and old city. Short walk from bus station. Friendly & helpful owners.

    Cons -

    • No objections.
    • The noise from the cars on the street made it hard to sleep
    • The parking lot is a good 10 minutes away from the hotel. Access to the hotel is extremely impractical for staying with luggage because unfortunately there are a lot of stairs to the entrance, so it is complicated to get to the hotel with more luggage. Also, the breakfast room is on the ground floor of the hotel, but you can get to it by leaving the hotel, which is not very practical in rainy conditions. And finally, I have to comment that the bathroom smells very humid.

Great location. Directly next to the main attraction Pule Arena! The staff is extremely friendly and available for all questions. Especially the lady at the front desk.

Promised an early breakfast but there was no one there to help us and we had to leave without breakfast.

Nice place for a short staycation, super location

High stairs before you come in if no man in the Reception, it will be complicated to go in upstairs

Wonderful location. Right next to the amphitheater.

It was difficult to find where the hotel parking lot was but the owner took his car , very nice of him and showed us where it was. The room was small , but doable . The rooms with two separate beds are on the third floor. , no elevator. But the owner carried the bags up for us

The Staff and location were excellent. The Air conditioning was working well.

The bathroom was hard to move around in, but the shower/tub was large.

    9LauriePosted on: 6-18-2025

Staff very helpful, rooms updated and comfortable. Breakfast was very good.

While location was great to visit the amphitheatre there is not much else to do in the area.Hotel Scaletta was a great place to stop over at the end of the day to refresh and move on.

    Very good breakfast,comfy bed

Could be better value, that doesn't necessarily mean cheap, but the place was a bit tired.Shower was draped over the corner bath, had to hold with one hand whils sat down. Not the end of the world but could be a problem for people with limited mobility.

Staff were very helpful helping lifting bags to our rooms! We were on the 3rd floor with no elevators! Very old building so understandable! Rooms were comfortable and clean! Close to the Roman Forum and old town.

Breakfast could have been better! Very basic European breakfast! Not a lot of choice but they would make scrambled eggs if you wanted!

Just a short walk from the bus station and into the old town. The magnificent colosseum is just 100 metres away.Very comfortable bed, tasty scrambled eggs ham, cheese, etc, toast and croissants for breakfast with juices and good coffee. Man at The reception kindly carried our bags up to the first floor and down again this morning for us.

There is no lift in the property. During check-in, the staff is very kind to help us with the luggage. But, at check-out, we have to manage with 2 luggage from 3rd floor.

Staff & the helpfulness of providing early morning picnic breakfast for early departure.

Hotel access (up many steps), no internal lift. No shower curtain.

The room was very nice. Clean with modern fixtures and reasonably firm, comfortable bed. For the price, I thought it was good value. The staff was very nice and helpful initially, except for a bit of confusion at check out.

Had a weird experience at check out about the parking. At the time I booked, I specifically asked about the parking and was told there would not be a problem. They said they have all the parking they need and didn't mention anything about cost. At check in I was told parking was free and they directed me to a lot about a block away. At check-out, the guy at reception told me I had to pay for parking... EUR 10 per day. He claimed that it said this on booking.com when I made the booking but I'm sure it didn't because I always check about the parking at the time of booking. I wasn't about to get into an argument about it, so I figured I would just pay the EUR 20. But as I was fishing in my pocket for the bill, he told me the best he could do was give me a half-price discount on the parking. Okay fine.. so I was fishing for a EUR 10 bill and then he said okay, no problem... I didn't have to pay for parking. So the parking went from EUR 20 to EUR 10 to free in the space of about a minute. It was almost as if he was making it up as he went along... seeing what he could get away with before we objected. Maybe that wasn't his intention that that's what it seemed like. The worst part about it is the guy was not pleasant. The whole time we were discussing the parking, he had a very stern and annoyed expression. Like he was angry or was having a bad morning or something. It was strange because it was so out of character with the rest of the stay. Anyway, my advice to Hotel Scaleta is tighten up your parking policy. Charging for parking is not a big deal but make sure your guests know the policy at the time of booking and then remind them again at check-in. Make a policy, make sure your guest are aware of the policy and then stick to the policy. It will make for a better experience for all concerned.

Breakfast was excellent! Lots of choices and very tasty. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and lots of hot water. A very short walk to the amphitheater.

Comfortable room near the arena and town with parking nearby.
