    Pros +

    • The view
    • This hotel has great architecture (the public areas look more like a museum) and an even better view. The semi-outdoor private hot spring bath was very nice. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful.
    • Incredible views, unique hotel, great food.

    Cons -

    • To be honest, I’m not a fan of these kind of hotel. It’s cold when you walk from room to room. There is no public onsen. Private onsen in room is small, tub is small. I don’t like the dark color atmospheres. I would stay somewhere else with public onsen
    • The room is not very dark even with the blinds closed. The lock on the door between the hot spring bath and the balcony does not work; even when locked, it's easy to pull the door open. That means that if someone can get onto the balcony, they can get into your room, which is not great for security.
    • 1 guest laundry machine for the whole hotel. Minor inconvenience.

The onsen and staff were excellent. The meals were great but a little limited.

I don’t like the room configuration.. no separate bathroom washbasin. The wash basin area was almost like part of the living room and it seemed like it was a mini kitchen. Not private enough for a washroom.

    The room is spacious

Overall it’s not value for money. It sounds luxurious but it’s not at all, minimal amenities, poor breakfast options. Also we had to pay a child fee for a 4- months baby who slept with us on the same bed which was super weird ( never happened in all of the hotels we stayed in in Japan).

Artistic sense and exceptional staffs. food are so good though no need to drive off. Here's a good place to rest and hear some drop of the rain, sees the light shades and hear the wind blow. So good to be here with my family and also I can enjoy many art pieces, delicately selected place on the hotel.

The room was nice and with onsen in all the rooms

The blinds in the master bedroom do not fully cover the window, so the room was bright as soon as the sun was up. The guest room even hv glass top without blinds, woken up by the sun light at 6

The private spring bath was so relaxing, we were on the third floor. Amazing views, sunrise was magnificent. We had a little mould on the ceiling in the bedroom/living area. Little disappointed and off putting, given the cleanliness of the room itself. Hopefully this will be addressed for other patrons.

Unique architecture, private bath onsen, large bedroom with fantastic sea views.

    9NaomiPosted on: 4-4-2025

Fabulous view. Great room, comfy bed, the private bath with the great view was fantastic. Breakfast was good. The building with all the art was really interesting too.

Coffee in the room wasn't that great and the window was a bit dirty which spoilt the view from the bath a little (but not a lot).

The staffs were so friendly! And it is super convenient when they arranged pick up and drop off serivice from train station at allocated timing near the check in and check out timing. Having a private onsen in your room is an extra plus.

This was a nice experience with on suite onsen and an awesome view. But you need a car or taxi to come here and explore Beppu.

    8YatPosted on: 3-22-2025

The building itself is the reason why I booked this hotel, and I wasn't disappointed. It's architecturally stunning in many ways, and so picturesque. Also the view of the whole Bappu city plus the shore line is amazing.

the room is nice but feeling a tiny bit run-down here and there. The real hot spring water in room is super super hot, which is nice that it's authentic, but a bit dangerous to handle because of its boiling temperature. Plus the smell of sulfites from the spring water fills the entire room. To me I'm ok with it but if you're super sensitive or loathe the smell of it, then you might find it a bit unbearable.

Amazing architectural design - quirky and modern - well appointed rooms - great onsen - fabulous restaurant - will definitely come back :-)

Knew it was part of the charm but just to be clear it’s sat back against the hills with spectacular views over Beppu but means you definitely need to use taxis / rent a car.

    8SuratchataPosted on: 3-4-2025

The hotel was well designed and captured a great unobstructed view of the Beppu city.

Hotel access is limited as the road is small and up the hill from other facilities such as restaurants. It would be perfect for a couple who wish to spend a serene night with a beautiful skyline.Food was ok, but quite limited for choices.

    Food is a bit disappointing.

WiFi setting may not use smoothly

    10KriengsakPosted on: 1-2-2025

Very responsive, informative, with great service mind staffs. The place is charming and clean. Would love to go back!

It was quite far from the Beppu station, you need a taxi to get there if you're not driving.
