Pros +
- 1. Our family particularly went to visit Padre Pio. The hotel did not disappoint. looking around, I can say this is the best hotel to stay if visiting the monastery. there are of course other options (self catering, cheaper etc) which are also around monastery but if you are up for comfort, this place has satisfied all our family requirement. we have 2 kids ages 14 and 10 so we booked a family room. its a good size to fit all 4 of our luggage's since we are from across the world and we are to travel around Italy. The room is clean and anything else you need, they are happy to assist. The pool is also good enough as my husband entertains the boys as they headed back after the mass and I can have as much time sitting solemnly and saying my prayers to the Lord through Padre Pio. 2. just across the hotel (just cross the small road :) ..) is the beautiful entrance of the monastery, its a long pathway lined up with pines where you will see the big cross in the middle. sitting on the hotel veranda at night is so solemn as you look up to the lighted cross of the monastery.3. Mass schedule is available at the monastery office, they have english options - all you need is to enquire. they will also give you map of the complex.4. Padre Pio's mortal remains is at the new church - at the underground chapel. I've attended 7:30Am mass. Theres a reception on the same ground where you can offer mass, confessions etc.5. the old church where Padre Pio used to hold masses and confessions is at the higher ground. on that same area, you can have all the souvenirs blessed. theres a stand by priest most of the day. 5. the hotel itself has restaurant but if you fancy something else, there are number of restaurants up the hill across the old church. worth noting that it is better to carry essentials as this is a small town. theres no big supermarket nearby.
- I like the cleanliness of the room. Water heater is working well in the bathroom. Breakfast is amazing! It would be good if the hotel provides bedroom slippers. Also, the flights of stairs in front of the hotel is the only major negative point cos one would need to carry your heavy luggages up those stairs.
- Clean and very close to the hearth of San Giovanni Rotondo
Cons -
- nothing to dislike really. it has everything we need to be comfortable. it is however for a short stay particularly visiting the monastery and Padre Pio.
- There was renovation and this didn’t make our stay excellent
- Unfortunately the breakfast was very disappointing, mostly sweet food on offer and fruit was unappealing. Hotel decor was old fashioned though renovated in part. Receptionist was unfriendly and unhelpful.

Location of the hotel. Quietness.

Great location. Easy parking. Friendly staff
Could be a little cleaner in the room-air ducts
As we were in San Giovanni
Noisey hotel rooms paper thin walls music & people noisey all night after midnight
Location was absolutely perfect but found the hotel lacking in every other element.
Very dated room unlike photos online. Triple room was v small and shower had alot of mildew.Waiters at breakfast we're falling over each other there was no many standing around getting in the way of guests
Excellent location and v good soundproofing as heard no noise from parties etcThe cleaners were super friendly and helpful - helped me locate shorts that flew from my window to balcony below.
Avoid coffee machine and go straight to proper coffee at hotel which was excellent Pool didn’t open always at 9 am but closer to 10 am
The room was a good size and clean however the rest is really dated and in need of some love and care. There is a restaurant in the hotel so we didn’t have to go out for dinner in the evening.
The outside areas were worn, ages and dirty. The pool wasn’t 100% clean, however passable. Reception staff were rude and unwelcoming. Breakfast was ok but basic. We were really disappointed as we’d chosen this hotel for their children’s area, park and the pool. Luckily we had the foresight to book our one full day at the beach which was great. Shower was tiny and looked like something from the 70s. I’m sure back in the day this hotel was amazing but it’s now in need of some love and care. So disappointed.
I really like the Spa service. very professional
They didm't give the towel for the pool, very small détails
The pool was nice and deep, but crowded. The dinner at the restaurant was good, with lovely staff and live music outside. The restaurant was modern and seems to have been updated recently. It felt like we were in a different place, more like what we expected.
The room was tiny, and we had to move as the shutter was stuck on the door to the shared terrace. The bathroom needs a complete refurbishment.... really dated shower and broken tiles, leaving a grotty feeling. However, the toilets in the public areas were utterly filthy. The ones at the pool I could understand, to some extent, as it was a busy afternoon there, but the toilets at the bar in the morning were just disgraceful. The entire bar area is dated and more like what a 2-star hotel would have. If you want to have a drink poolside, you must go upstairs and inside to get one... if this hotel valued it's guests a poolside bar is a must. Overall, avoid this place if possible. It's a 2/3 star at best (using UK standards), with dirty facilities. Also, we were charged €10 per night for our dog, which is fine as we were told in advance about this charge. However, the only place that your dog is welcome is locked in your room... not quietly on a lead in the bar or even at the pool, asleep in the shade. So, in our opinion, this hotel is NOT pet friendly and should perhaps just not allow them.
Good location. Room was a very good size and clean
The shower was terrible. It was extremely small and the shower head didn’t allow much water to come out.Would strongly recommend an update on the showers.
all very good. Staff, facilities, breakfast, swimming pool and location.
room was a bit tired and the bathroom could do with upgrading but other than that all okay.
The Restaurant Sale & Peppe and the outside pool.
For a 4* hotel it was an old-stylish place.
The staff were incredible. We had an accident en route (6 m on a Saturday night). We rang theHotel who arranged for a breakdown truck to collect us. Could not have asked for more. The restaurant food was fantastic. Far better than the number 1 and number 2 restaurants on TripAdvisor - we tried them both.
The breakfasts were poor. Apart from that we had no complaints about anything.
Location to the padre pio shrine the main purpose of our trip
Breakfast is just okay. I hope there were more choices
The spa was wonderful - I got a massage there and it was a relaxing experience. I wish I had known more about the sauna portion, I would have made more time and taken advantage of that. I tried to go for a hike near the water, and drove pretty far my first day, but on my second, I discovered a wonderful walk up the mountain - the hotel is located near a beautiful church and it seemed like there was a hiking trail behind it.
The parking was free so that was great, but the spots were tight! Also, I tried to leave early one morning for a hike, and it was difficult to get the garage door opened. Shower was a little small and seemed a bit shabby. Also, someone else mentioned this and I should have paid attention, but Saturday evening was LOUD with some music playing possibly near the bar? I would second the recommendation to bring ear plugs.
The pool area was nice. The hotel is perfectly located if you’re planning pilgrimage to San Pio.
Breakfast was way below our expectations. The choice of products was very poor and it was much different than what was shown on the pictures at Booking.com. The hotel is going through renovation, which was not indicated on its profile in Booking.com. Only one elevator of the two worked and it was super slow and old. The outdoor terrace was not well kept and dirty. After staying for two nights (out of planned 5 nights) we decided to move out of the hotel. We asked the front desk staff to return the money for the remaining nights but were refused. Despite that we moved out to a different hotel.
Great location.
Don’t eat at the main restaurant in the hotel. Only a few servers speak English. There were 16!family members in our group. One waiter assumed right away that we are part of the pilgrim group so he directed us to go to the restaurant downstairs. As soon as we got downstairs, we were asked to go back upstairs because the downstairs restaurant is only for pilgrims. All 16 of us went back upstairs only to be told by the same waiter to go back downstairs. Luckily, one waiter intervened and realized that we are not part on the pilgrim group. We were finally seated. We waited over 2 hours for some of our food to come. When o asked where are the red of our order, I was told that the kitchen was closed. This experience is very disappointing.
A quiet hotel in a quiet area. A hearty breakfast for an Italian breakfast. It's best to be early for breakfast, an hour before closing, if most of the items on offer are sold out.
