Pros +
- It was simple and clean with a nice view of Isola Bella and the ocean.
- The view from the balcony.
- I like how close it was to the beach area.
Cons -
- The location. It is hard to get around in Taormina using public transportation. I later discovered there was a cable car to take you up the mountain to Taormina, but then it was out of service for an entire day that I was there. On the morning I left I ended up having to walk 30 minutes along a road with no sidewalks to the train station, missing my train. The hotel staff was not very helpful with the problematic transportation challenges in Taormina.
- The hotel is very old, our room was very old. The shower did not work properly and the water did not keep the temperature constant but kept changing from scorching hot to freezing cold. The water pressure changed from low to high during shower as well. The shower space was tiny, you kept hitting the walls all the time. The shower head was chipping small pieces every time you touched it. The entrance door was metal so even in late October during the day it would get very hot from the sun and radiate this heat inside the apartment. When we complained about the shower they told us they will fix it. The next day same story, so we decided to cut the stay there by one night. We complained about this again the next morning and the staff was pretending that they fixed it, when clearly they did not. After insisting that they were wrong, they offered to give us another room but by this time we were fed up with the whole situation and decided to leave. These are the situations where customer service actually should matter, but sadly in our case there was zero customer service! This is a run-down and dysfunctional hotel that is way overpriced for the nothingness that it offers.
- the rooms are big enough for 2 people at most. With a family of 4, it was just too tight for us. Not having parking and being in such a busy road, it had its challenging moments.

Location and the view
Noisy road
The view, the service, the location. Everything was amazing!
Very nice hotel, right in front of isola Bella, close to city center too, either beautiful hike up the stairs or there is a shuttle close by ( cable car under maintenance). Staff was friendly and helpful, room was cleaned daily. Room itself is lovely too and bed was quite comfy. If you are a light sleeper, id suggest ear plugs, but there weren’t any major noise concerns. Overall we had an amazing stay
The view from our room was BREATHTAKING! we looked right out at Isola Bella. The room was clean with a beautiful veranda overlooking the view of the sea. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. The bus is close and the parking area is a 5 minute walk. We loved our stay at this hotel.
It can be a bit loud in the morning with vespas and cars honking and zooming by.
The location is excellent, the sea view is breathtaking, you cross the road, go down the stairs to get to a beautiful beach. 15 min away from Taormina.
The view was great
The pictures online did not match up with the rooms they gave. They also didn’t refund me after I left the first day because of the location. You have to walk up 100 stairs to make it to Taormina.
The location is perfect. The view is great.
Stairs to get to the room at the last floor. The price is to high. There is cooking panel but no knife or dishes. Only a kettle. With plastic cups.
Our room had one big bed and one small sofa bed for one person, bathroom and big balcony. The location in front of the beach is great, 10 min walk and you are swimming. Is also close to the funicular that travels to the historical center.
The room is a bit small for three people.
Great location and great views of Isola Bella - very close to the beach and has a minimart closeby for drinks etc. It's worth upgrading to a balcony because sitting there with some drinks and looking out onto the ocean was so relaxing and the best part of the hotel. They let us leave our luggage there when we checked out, too. Staff were friendly.
The room is outdated and fine for one or two nights but nothing special or luxurious. Worth it for the views though!
1. Location was great just in front of Isola Bella.2. Room with a balcony and a beautiful view of the island.
1. Parking is a bit far away they say 150m. Actualy it is 350m so when carring a troley it is not so nice.2. The room is quite basic so do not expect it to be fancy.3. The elevator is very very slow
The location is great! Just a few minutes from the beach and also from the cable cars which take you up in the upper part of Taormina. The view from the balcony is amazing! The staff is very kind and helpful. There is optional breakfast which they bring to your room and you can enjoy at the balcony. Our stay was gret!
Amazing location rooms are a little small, great balconies though with beautiful view
Welcoming, helpful staff. Magnificient view from the private balcony and terrace!
We spent 2 nights at Mendolia Hotel. The room, and the hotel overall, has a large terrace, from where you can enjoy Isola Bella. The beach entrance is right across the street. There are some small grocery stores and plenty of restaurants nearby. The nearby beach is both private and public. We enjoyed both of them the same. The beach was stony but pretty clean. We received fresh towels every day. The personnel was very nice and accommodating. No complaints. Accessible. We arrived directly from Catania airport, took a direct bus (Etna) and walked for about 15 min. The Cablecar that takes you up to Taormina is nearby also (6 euro/direction).
Complimentary coffee and 1 bottle of water would have been nice, but nothing major to complain about. The sidewalk in overall Taormina is pretty much non-existent. If you stay by the beach just expect this regardless of where you stay.
Beautiful location, right by the beach and overlooking Isola Bella. Room was clean and had all the basic necessities.
Room was a little small and elevator for carrying bags up was small and slow.
The location was amazing
The air conditioning didn’t work and all exterior lights were on all night this made it not conducive to a good nights rest.
The location of the hotel is very convinient if you want to visit Isola Bella and relax on the beach there - just few minutes away down the stairs. Clean and nice room, amazing view from the balcony.
Parking is available for additional price near the hotel but during our stay in high tourism season the parking was very full and quite stresful to park there.
