Pros +
- Nice building, well located, nice room
- Location is a 10 minute walk from the train station and restaurants are nearby, as is the (very nice) town square. The room was large and nicely appointed. The lobby is exceptional - a regal Old World feel with a majestic staircase. Very quiet hotel, well maintained and helpful staff.
- Very grand and impressive common areas. The lobby is stunning. The room (superior) was comfortable enough, even if a little boring.
Cons -
- Noisy (doors of rooms slammed when closing). Temperature in the room too hot
- The reception staff were brusque and not particularly welcoming or helpful. There generally seemed to be a shortage of staff across the whole hotel. It didn’t feel like a very welcoming place.
- eveything was great! no complaints

Good location. Clean roomNice hotel
No potato for breakfast. Filter coffee way too strong
Tip-Top all was OK..super staff .. great location ..
Safe didn't work ..
Great location, beautiful buildings, lot’s to explore .
The breakfast was good but over priced.
Location is perfect in close proximity to the old town. Personal was nice.
Asked for bath slippers but been refused with the note that it’s only provided to some luxury rooms…Tried to have a breakfast but kitchen wasn’t having sufficient amount of food as it turned we had to warm them one day before about our intention to have a breakfast. Umbrella was provided but it was broken.Bedding and the mattress wasn’t really comfortable however pillows were good.
Good
We had to wait around 20 minutes till receptionist discover which toom is twin bedded room and figured out in 3rd trial. Newly renovated hotel. I wish lady French hotel staff could a bit more relaxed and try to communicate in English rather than carrying on French. Or just remove hotel from global booking page and keep for . French speaking clients only
Location was perfekt. Interiors were amazing. Very comfortable. Parking moderate price
Breakfast. Too expensive for what was there. And nobody fill out the food so no coffee, no bread.. etcNobody told me that the Fortress was closed on Tuesday although that was the purpose of my stay there. Very sad
Fantastic experience. Well located. Parking on-site (we booked early and got lucky with only nine spaces available).
Beautiful Art Nouveau Hotel. Well renovated with very comfortable beds. Within walking distance to the train station and right at the old town center. The restaurant next door is very good.
Amazing Location , leaving in several hotels in Belfort. This one the best.
I prefer to be informed in advance if I need to leave a deposit while checking in. I’ve stayed in the property several times. This is the first time I was asked to pay deposit if 95 Eur. And probably I would like to add: It would be really lovely to be greeted in a more friendly way. Usual: welcome back , how was your flight and have a lovely stay in our hotel. I travel a lot for business and leisure. These words are must have. Grand Hotel is not a cheap hotel and it is a high level hotel. I believe some changes in this attitude will help.
Tastefully renovated with beautiful rooms and an impressive lobby. The rooms are comfortable but the descriptions for superior rooms do not match all rooms the hotel considers superior. Some of the superior rooms are small and anything but soundprrof.
The hotel management considers some rooms superior which do not match the description (30 sq and soundproof). We received a small room which certainly was not 5x6m and you could hear anything from next door, esp. toiltet flushes etc. The hotel management told us they receive regular complaints about this assignment policy but that they are not able to change it, which is a real disappointment. The breakfast ist not four-star Grand-Hotel stlye, with soggy cakes and running scrambled eggs.
We appreciated the private parking at the hotel in the middle of the city. Accessibility was perfect.
A great hotel . We loved the sense of belle-époque grandeur in the Reception area and our room was really spacious and beautifully appointed . Huge bed and lovely modern bathroom . Also very convenient for the old town _ just 5 minutes walk away and about 15 mins walk (uphill) to the magnificent citadel . The little bag of chocolates left for us in the room was a great touch . Would definitely stay here again if we return to Belfort . Copious breakfast buffet - excellent !
It would have been good to have the option of some pain complet at breakfast .
The hotel itself and the room was good
Lack of parking, the lift being out of order and no assistance with our mobility problems. Breakfast was so busy that they ran out of croissants, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit salad and bread. With only one member of staff on duty desperately trying to cope. The breakfast fiasco was very disappointing as the hotel must know how many guests ordered breakfast
My brother had recently died, and he had previously worked in Belfort staying in room 109 at Grand Hotel Du Tonneau D’or for 2 years. I planned the trip to visit all of his favourite places. I contacted the hotel who advised that they were currently in the process of carrying out renovations at the hotel, and couldn’t guarantee that the room would be ready in time. The hotel is based in the centre of Belfort and in east walking distance to the bars and restaurants. To my delight the hotel pulled out all the stops and had the room ready for our arrival, I couldn’t have been happier. The hotel is stunningly beautiful, the staff on reception were all so friendly, they all spoke English & were so welcoming nothing was too much trouble, they made our stay so comfortable. Our room was stunning with comfortable Ed and air con and all newly refurbished, the en suite was beautiful. The breakfast had a large variety of options available. I would highly recommend this hotel as a wonderful place to stay
Very nice room, clean! Loved the cute little dog bed and bowls! Nice touch ?
It was hot in the room, but it was a very close stormy evening.
Everything was fine - besides the invoices because they double invoiced the rate - it seems interface between booking com and this hotel is not agreed or aligned. I have now trouble to get the money back!
