    Pros +

    • Great location, on a back street in Thamel, quiet at night other than the pigeon’s sounds. Very kind staff. Good breakfast with options for Indian breakfast, not just European. Good WiFi. Lovely garden as well as terraces on each floor.
    • everything! close to tamal but not in it. great food on premise of you want it. excellent staff that are willing and able to help in every regard. it's our go to place when visiting nepal!
    • this is our go to place when we come to kathmandu. we stayed here 12 years ago and it still holds that same charm.each room is decorated a littledifferent, some have a view of Swayambu but all are comfy. just close enough to Thamelfor your shopping trekking needs but not IN all the chaos. Garden setting for those rest days and a dang good biryani to refuel. Also the staff are incredible welcoming, super nice, and always helpful.

    Cons -

    • The tub was not draining and we had a stream of ants in the bathroom.

Overall great hotel. Used as a base to explore Nepal and stayed 3 times over a few weeks. Great location for exploring main sites of Kathmandu and to prepare for a trek. Staff were amazing! We had a lot of questions and they were always very helpful and friendly. Beautiful courtyard to relax and unwind after a busy day in Kathmandu. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Good location, close to Thamel and Durbar square. Great garden to rest and good food for reasonable price.

There was a slight cigaret smell in the room, but not too bad.

A fantastic Hotel in a great location few minutes walk to the centre one way and the Durbur square the other received the most warm welcome from the lovely and kind Deepti on reception and Kancha who seemed in charge of maintenance. he found a very good current exchange for me instead of directions he personally took me to it. and Prakash head waiter who was so helpful too. excellent value breakfast and I had lovely evening meal on night. also a beautiful peaceful garden to eat /drink sit in etc and nice roof terrace as well.

The garden was lovely, the food was delicious and the service friendly and helpful.

There is nothing to not like.

Very nice Hotel in Kathmandu. Perfectly central between Thamel and Durbar Square but still in a quiet side road. Also offer Airport-Pickup, have a nice Rooftop Terrace, 24h Reception and excellent breakfast. Was here already 3 times and would come again without any hesitation.

Bathroom a bit basic, but for Nepal standards more than good enough.

    7JamesPosted on: 2-11-2025

Comfortable bed, good size room. Hot shower

    7RobertPosted on: 1-6-2025

Very good hotel in a great area of Kathmandu. It's right in old Thamel, but just off a quiet little back street so you get the benefit of being right in the bustle of Thamel, but without the noise at night. It also feels safe and secure with 24 hour staff on the gates. The breakfast was very good and the warmth of the hosts was really good. There is a lovely courtyard with greenery and shade which is great to sit in (and have breakfast in). There are also really nice shared balconies overlooking the courtyard with comfortable seating. It's very easy to arrange transport, guides, trips, etc frrom the hotel as they have a good agent who is always available in the morning to chat to in the courtyard (and no hard sell - he offers genuinely good advice). I would definitely recommend this place to stay ahead of any trek in Nepal.

The bathroom was a bit 'tired' and needed some work. The shower sprayed in a variety of directions leaving the floor quite wet! But the water was consistently hot, so this wasn't a major problem. WiFi is slow (but does the job) and the TV doesn't work brilliantly, but this is the case in most of Kathmandu and if you are heading to a place like Nepal, you dont want to sit around watching telly anyway.

Staff & owners (everybody) are very nice and willing to help. They all have nice service attitude and try to make your stay as pleasant as possible. There is welcome drinks (tea) with warm welcome from the staff when you first arrive (which is hard to find among this price point).

I booked 2 rooms. In first room, the restroom was a bit dated & old. But in another room, it's just renovated so it's a lot better so I think the overall condition of the room wil be depend on which room is assigned to you.

    8DianaPosted on: 12-9-2024

An iconic hotel on the edge of Thamel with a lovely garden to take morning breakfast in and meet other trekkers. Though close to all the action, nights were quiet. Staff were great. Especially loved the welcome each evening by the gate porter.

    6PatriciaPosted on: 11-30-2024

Reception was amazing, as were all the staff we encountered. They were all so welcoming. The food was also good.

The room had a leak around the toilet, the windows only had a mosquito net, no glass. The doors only had wooden bolts to secure once inside. And the lock outside, was a padlock. It felt unsafe. Not what you'd expect for the nightly rate charged.

    7AichaPosted on: 11-25-2024

The hotel is super charmingly decorated (almost like a mini museum) and located in a quiet street near the centre. It has a garden and common balcony seating area at each floor to relax. The room was super clean with an amazing hot shower. They provide storage options.

The hotel is in a quiet alley 10 minutes away (walking) outside the busy area of Thamel... which makes it quiet but if you are a solo female traveller it could feel strange walking back to the hotel late night alone.
