Pros +
- Location and price are definitely two of the best things about this hotel. Rooms are clean and quite noise proof. Will certainly be staying here again when we are in town next.
- Not a lot. The room wasn’t ready when we arrived. Check in was 2pm, we arrived at 3pm. We had cold food so couldn’t wait for the room to be ready, we had to take a room downgrade. Which credit is given to reception who sorted this quickly.
- Bad
Cons -
- The location was in a terrible part of town, right outside a bus station, and the carpark was not secure. Every time we tried entering the carpark it was impossible to try get around buses safely and with cars exiting carpark and pedestrians crossing driveway. The dryer did not work, we needed to get housekeeping to dry our clothes. Which they did for free and were very nice about it. The fridge/freezer didn’t work well. Our frozen food didn’t stay frozen. We couldn’t use the light in the lounge because it started flickering once turned on. There were no spare blankets to use. Some of the cutlery was not clean.
- Charging me a no show fee of $210 when I showed up
- Im unsure if it was the owner or not but my friend had come to visit and this lady who worked there was being a little racist. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THAT, That was my 4th time stay there and i never had an issue

My room door 304B had trouble opening and closing the door. Bc the carpet is lifting or there was some cracks in the wall

Good location and clean rooms

The location
It smelt like mould , water was dripping from the ceiling into our bedroom and they had put one of our motel towels underneath it to catch the drips. Carpet was all rotten and half pulled out. Was utterly disappointing
Location was ideal for our stay.
Tv initially not functioning but staff were quick to have maintenance check to find circuit switch had tripped - all was fine after that. The king bed was more firm than I have experienced in previous situations. The air con whilst it worked very well and was cool during the day (being a positive in mackay summer) - it was quite cool to sleep with the temperature which seemed to be at a setting which could not be regulated.
Location, view, comfortable
Long hallway
Location was perfect to watch the fireworks on NYE
It’s a bit dated, the roof was sagging like water damaged. The tv in the lounge room had no remote and didn’t work.
Convenient location , clean tidy and friendly staff
N-a
Spacious great location
Stale smell in room
The breakfast was excellent - and we like that everything is within walking distance.
studio is small for a couple…..also the people in the room next to us were very loud - constant opening & slamming of door at all hours, but this is not the fault of Rydges.
Very clean & tidy, stayed in the 1 brm on top floor. I love the 2 TV'S as there is 1 in the bedroom. staff were friendly, great location. Great to see a motel that puts money back in & keeps it maintained, maybe some other motels in mackay should do the same. Keep up the great work Ridges Mackay
Small table & chairs on the balcony would be great, there is nothing!
Lovely indoor pool. Nice entrance. Quick elevators. Convenient car park. Comfortable bed. Close to the amazing, always awesome ‘The Dispensary’ coffee shop.
3 pieces of equipment in the gym. In the process of much needed renovations.
The staff were nice, competent, friendly and helpful. The pool was great. Room service was great. We received a small gift on Christmas Day which was a lovely surprise.
There were pokies on the ground floor which really made it feel down market. The dishwasher was broken and apparently was ancient and never worked. The TV broke while we were staying but it was replaced immediately. When we arrived there was barely any toilet paper and no spare rolls. One bed was not set up as requested (2 singles) but it was fixed immediately. I really felt the staff were doing a great job but were let down by a tired old hotel that needs some money spent on it. It was reasonable value for money but not the experience I expect from Rydges. I would not stay again.
The location was great. It was great there was a TV in both the lounge & the bedroom.
The bed was too hard in both rooms that we had. The couch was broken in the first room we had and we couldn't sit on it. The shower needed rubber matting in the tub as it was slippery getting out. Another reason we changed rooms.
Property location, room size and facilities were great and very clean
Car park Reno’s were still happening and it’s a bit frustrating when you can’t park out of the weather!
Location
Car park was under renovation so parked in area where minimum lighting. I understand it’s temporary
City centre location. Good bed.
Very tiny room. Shower tiles need attention as does the glass shower door. I expected a Ridges Hotel to be a little better maintained.
Good location and great staff. Good size apartment with kitchen and washing machine.
The rooms are tired and had cobwebs, dirt on walls etc. Overall clean but the rooms desperately need a freshn up.
